Honk at me while I'm crossing the street, wait an additional 30 seconds
This happened back when I was in high school.
I had no spine when I was a teenager. Ā You could walk up to me and punch me in the face and Iād probably apologize for being in the way of your fist. Ā This day, however, had already been pretty terrible and I had run out of fucks to give.
I had gotten out of school and was walking to my car which was parked a few blocks away. Ā As I was crossing the street, I tripped and fell flat on my face. Ā Well, fuck.
As if that wasnāt bad enough, some asshole in a BMW who was waiting to turn right decides to lay on his horn because I wasnāt standing up quickly enough. Ā Dude, Iām a 16 year old girl who just fell over in the middle of the street, give me a fucking break. Ā I got up and gave him an apologetic wave because, again, I lacked a spine. Ā He laid on the horn again and flipped me off.
By that point, I was just done. Ā Fuck the day I had. Ā Fuck the pothole that I tripped over in the street. Ā Most of all, fuck this guy.
I looked over at the crossing signal and saw that it was still green, so I just stood there. Ā I didnāt move from my spot right in front of his car. Ā He got irritated, rolled down the window, and started yelling at me. Ā I stayed silent and stared at him with my best attempt at a death glare (I probably just looked constipated but whatever, I felt like a badass). Ā He couldnāt go around me because he was turning onto a two-lane road.
The crossing signal started flashing red. Ā I still didnāt move. Ā It turned to the āstopā signal and I calmly and slowly made my way to the sidewalk.
Asshole BMW guys floored it and made his right turn, continuing to flip me off. Ā He probably forgot about the incident a few minutes later, but I still think fondly of the time I grew a spine and inconvenienced a douche for 30 seconds.
