🍃 Container Refill - Succulent Edition 🌵
Thinking about replacing the arborvitae with a yucca 🤔 but I am still happy with the colors and textures. This is a very low soil and dry container. We have irrigation but it’s with a refillable container and not hooked up to a spicket, so they have to refill it (which sometimes goes too long).
Put in plants that could handle a little neglect and hot temperatures. Lots of different sedums, succulents, and herbs (variegated lavender and sage).
🌴 Summer Container Refill 🌸
Went tropical themed here this season, palm/hibiscus combo + smaller colorful annuals for the border. The hydrangea and grey owl juniper are prior residents.
Installed a drip irrigation line since the containers never had them and we want things to be easier these days. Timer, hose, and nozzles all good to go.
Will check in after a month or so 🌺🍃
PSA: hornworms are out on the prowl here in the Philadelphia area. Found this casing in the garden 🐛 fun fact: hornworms turn into a Hawkmoth 🦋
Reclaim phase 2.
Trash GONE, now let’s keep it that way. I had to do a big clean up; lots of weeds, trash, and glass in the area. Lots of lumps and bumps so a good grading was in order. Assembled the raised beds, filled with soil and then my favorite part.
Planting! ✨🌸 This is a shade heavy area with a little afternoon sun.
Ingredients: dogwood, phlox, calidium, heuchra, coleus/marigold/begonia assortment.

🌺 Spring Containers 🌼
Main centerpiece: hinoki cypress
Ingredients: purple heuchera, lavender, columbine, ivy, dianthus, and pansy assortment.
I love *not* using an arborvitae as the centerpiece (very basic), even if it’s over budget you don’t want to skimp on a mid focal point.
Trillium 🌸 a beautiful spring ephemeral that thrives in shade. Amazing to find in the wild, they are in the lily family and are a protected wildflower.
Foam flower (Tiarella) in bloom 🌱 one of my favorite shady native perennials
Last year I planted a pollinator garden in the Fall and I am *so so excited to see how full and colorful this will turn out this season! 🦋✨
Ingredients: baby Joe pye, cat mint, bee balm, salvia, coreposis, echinacea magnus + Cheyenne spririt, helenium, Veronica, goldenrod, and aster.
I also sprinkled cosmo and marigold seeds in between the perennials. Summer check in will be 🌼🌺🌸🩷
Container 1: Endless summer hydrangea, 3 hosta, purple heuchera, and summer annuals.
Container 2: butterfly bush, columbine, lavender, and summer annuals.
Container 3: Annuals only. Geraniums, dahlias, lantana, and osteospermums.

I love a good project AND a before/after. This is phase one of reclaiming a communal space. ✨
Cleaned up all weeds, graded, and whacked gravel area. Really made a huge improvement. Planted three containers with a perennial and annual mix.
Ordered 3 raised beds to install in the space on a later date.
🌷✨🌈 Spring Bulbs 🌈✨🌷
Last Fall I planted 175 tulip bulbs in the front garden + many other daffodils in the back for a Spring show and it did NOT disappoint. The goal was a rainbow and we certainly achieved that.
25 of each color of the rainbow, a daffodil naturalizing mix, and a special group of double late Gudoshink tulips (the multi colored red/yellow) make up this planting.
I love when a colorful project comes together. So beautiful!
Power to the Mushies! ✨🍄🟫✨ found a Morel which doing a yard clean up, so magical!
Life’s a garden, dig it 🌼🌱🌺

Let’s turn leaf litter into this seasons mulch 🍂 leaving the leaves is good, but a heavy coating of leaves will take a while to break down and can smother plants.
I’m going to move the debris into a container, chop with my electric weedeater, mix, chop again, and now we have nutritious munch! It will break down over the course of this season and provide nutrients to our garden beds. For bigger areas and spaces, you can also mow over the leaves and blow them in the beds/lawn.

2026 Flower Show 🌼🌺🦋🌸🌻
Come with me for a morning - afternoon checking out this years show. I don’t go every year, but was really feeling like seeing something beautiful after this never ending Winter. Way more vendors this year, always a ton of orchids, and SO many people! Definitely recommend going later in the afternoon if you’re able.
Got a flower crown, visited the butterfly exhibit, and had a yummy lunch at Reading Terminal. Even if it was overwhelming, it was still a lot of fun. Now I’m officially ready for Spring.
