Send some normal soldiers to train with your living weapons.
Pros:
Working with such dangerous opponents will encourage rapid improvement.
Soldiers often find living weapons difficult to work with. Training lowers the chance of mishaps in the field.
Living weapons are examples of proper discipline.
An effective threat for misbehavior. Remind the troops how much they can still lose.
Contrastingly, certain interactions allow soldiers to feel powerful without harassing civilians or disrupting the chain of command.
Cons:
Introducing living weapons to new circumstances can result in unwanted casualties.
Beware of soldiers humanizing the weapons. This can cause them to regress in their training, or in the worst cases, lead to revolt.
Send some soldiers to train with the living weapons, but whatever you do, make sure neither group has sympathy for the other. The soldiers should feel frightened, privileged, outmatched, but never sorry. The weapons shouldn't feel much of anything, but pride is acceptable, as is fear.
If a soldier recognizes a weapon, separate them at once for their mutual stability. If a weapon recognizes a soldier, well, that is a different problem. I trust you have good enough judgement to know what should be done if they both seem to be friends.
