语 refers to the language and 文 is more likely to mean written one.

I study ....我学 … 。（wǒ xué…。） I have… class 我有…课。（wǒ yǒu… kè。）
Where do you go to school/college? 你在哪念书?（nǐ zài nǎ niànshū?）
Which school are you in? 你在哪个学校念书?（nǐ zài nǎge xuéxiào niànshū?）
Which grade are you in? 你念几年级？（nǐ niàn jǐ niánjí?）
Good to know :
The word 念 is used for taking courses and formal book learning.
The word 学 means study in the sense of learning or acquiring a skill.
学游泳。（xué yóuyǒng）－ learn to swim 学画画。（xué huà huà）－ learn to draw 学做饭。（xué zuò fàn）－ learn to cook
Both 念 and 学 can be used when referring "to study a main subject at school ","to major in”.
“I'm studying Computer Engineering at University." 我在大学念/学计算机工程。（wǒ zài dàxué niàn/xué jìsuànjī gōngchéng。）
