Or the times Chad has taken him shopping and Chad demands Robert just hold his hand or his elbow and walk around with him as they go.

And then.. the biggest one that still short circuits Robert's brain, Chad will come out of no where to fend off other people who come asking for Robert for dates or even just pestering him. Chad pulls Robert back behind him, shields him. And barks loud and boisterous at the intruder. Robert is stunned so much he just ... stands back and watches as Chad intimidates whoever is a problem.

Robert knows that Chad knows that Robert is perfectly capable of handling himself. They've been in enough bar fights together. But seeing Chad ... do all those things, feeling Chad loving him so intimately, so intensely in those small ways.... it does things to Robert. It makes his brain go fuzzy, makes his insides lurch and twist, in a good maybe weird way... he feels so very cherished, protected, guarded .. and it wasn't even by his own doing. Robert wondered briefly if this is what a princess or even a prince felt like when their knight stood between them and danger.

'Never tell him I just thought of him as a Knight, his ego is way too big as it is....' Robert thinks as he stares up at Chad, face pink with a soft blush, after another 'shitty normie ' came calling for robert's attention.
