Why do we see the darkness within us and think it is all we are?
That the darkness is all consuming and others have no choice but to see us as defined by it?
Darkness is only noticed when there isn't enough light to compensate.
When it's the only thing there is within a space.
In the physical world, no one notices darkness when it is only in the corners of the room or under the couches, so why do we think inside us is so different?
Just because we happen to dwell inside the dark corners within doesn't mean others only see that darkness.
They honestly probably have no idea it exists there until we point it out to them. Either consciously or unconsciously.
Because when a visitor comes to your home, they never notice the darkness in the corners or under the couches unless they are trying to look. But if they look, they give away the locations of their own dark spots.
And who would do that???
