Stop writing trans charactersâ deadnames as close to their chosen names. Trans folk* donât want to hear their deadnamesâtheir names are an identity, their deadnames are not.
If youâre writing about a character called Dan, donât make his deadname Danielle or Danica or Dana. Samantha or Emma or Sarah are not only more accurate examples, but theyâre more respectful ones, too. Trans people are using a name that ties to their identities, theyâre not just fixing up their old selves to a more male or female versionâwhich is what youâre doing when you make their pre-transition selves exactly like their transitioned selves by just switching the name a bit and giving them a dramatic hair cutting scene.
Some trans guys like long hair. Some trans girls love short hair. Changing your hair and adding an âaâ to your name isnât what happens when trans folk* come out. Let your trans characters express themselves uniquely.
(Update, yes, obviously this doesnât mean everybody in the trans community picks a name thatâs different. Itâs a post about cis authors thinking about what stereotypes theyâre feeding into, not a post about trans people choosing their names.)
Took me 17 years to embrace my culture but I finally did it

Brian: â'When my hand is on your grease gun.â Thatâs very subtle, isnât it?â
Roger: âItâs a metaphor, Brian!â
My Two Fav BoRhap Moments:
Theyâre both small moments, because I am at my core a people person and I love humanity more than anything on this earth:
When they were at the farm and Freddieâs writing BoRhap for the first time, and itâs just him sitting at the piano, half improvising, and he sings âSometimes wish Iâd never been born at all!!â And then he. Stops. And the raw honesty of that line is just sprawled across Rami Malekâs face. Like I felt that.
When Freddieâs walking out of the AIDS clinic/hospital and the young man sees him, and his eyes kinda widen and just impulsively goes like âAYYYYY-OOâ. And Freddie stops and its dead quiet, and then finally he kinda turns his head and calls back. And the kid just smiles quietly to himself. Itâs such a moment of geniune human connection between two people bound by a shared secret, and also perfectly sums up the power of representation imo
Donât listen to the critics
Bohemian Rhapsody is an absolute masterpiece and you should go and watch it. Seriously. The emotion, the effort that went into it. If Rami Malek doesnât get an Oscar nomination from this I will be appalled.
Iâm sorry but Brian May in BoRhap is the exact human representation of the Mom friendÂ

hey im back to remind all the exclusionists reblogging the original post and leaving out the follow ups that american specifically said they werenât making a reference to asexuals or aromantics with that post. :)
That doesnât mean that it canât be used in that context though
ARE YOU SHITTING ME
YOUâRE ADVOCATING FOR TAKING QUOTES FROM OTHER LGBT+ PEOPLE OUT OF CONTEXT TO SUIT AN AGENDA THEY HAVE SAID THEY DONâT AGREE WITH OR SUPPORT
ARE YOU SERIOUSLY SUGGESTING THAT YOU STUPID FUCKING TRUSCUM
Just a reminder: op doesnât want you using this to exclude aces/aros/nb people/etc so if youâre using it that way the tweet has lost its original meaning! Stop taking it out of its original context

Hey I'm deleting my tumblr app for awhile for my mental health. I keep seeing toxic posts and its triggering so I'm gonna delete the app for a bit.
Dysphoria = Transgender
No Dysphoria = Cisgender
Thatâs it. There are no other factors. There is no in between.

Let Trans Men Be Hyper Masculine
Let Trans Men Be Stereotypically Masculine
Let Trans Men Be Men
Stop Forcing Trans Men Into The Unnecessary Role Of âUwu Soft Boiâ˘â
Please
Iâm a mostly really hypermasc trans dude and all the time people treat me like less of a man or a soft flower boi because iâm trans. like okay. I really do love pastels and pink and flowers and stuff like that. But I also fucking love muscle shirts and big black leather boots and leather jackets and spikes and torn jeans and snapbacks and I would love to have a beard and be covered in hair and everything that comes with being really manly. Please stop trying to take that away from me because Iâm trans.
Back in high school I had a HUGE crush on the âmysteriousâ guy in the class above me. Letâs call him Tom. He was waaaaaaaaaay out of my league so by some screwed logic I figured I had nothing to lose and started talking to him one day. Lo and behold, we became friends and I started hanging out with his group of friends most days after school. Since I came from a small town almost 10 miles away it was great to have new friends to spend time with, or so I thought.
As stated I had a huge crush on this guy and it was blood obvious to anyone involved - Tom included. He had already made it clear to me and others that he did not look for a relationship with anyone and this was confirmed by his friends, some of the girls told me that he just had a couple of short relationships during high school and that the girls had been the driving forces behind getting into said relations. Somehow I managed to push my feelings aside far enough to spend time with him as a friend, (God knows how a 17-yearold girl managed that) but I had my angsty, upset and jealous moments for sureâŚ
And then, somehow, we started to spend more and more time together and on a friends Halloween party he actually asked me if I wanted to date him - as boyfriend/girlfriend. I was on cloud nine for sure and as happily in love as only a teenage girl can be. Until our group of friends found out. Their reaction was to âblameâ me, saying I made Tom agree to date me, that it would never last more than a few months at best and then he would get bored with me as he had with the other girls and even so far as to once telling me to break up with him and move back home. I realized later that several of them must have had a crush on him at some point or another and then I showed up⌠Teenage girls can be brutal.
Anyway, most of those friendships crumbled as they tend to do, especially reinforced by the dislike from several members of the group. I got on with my life, school ended and I went through a couple of jobs before ending up as a manager at a local restaurant. I was working an evening shift when two of my old high school friends who had been very vocal about my unpopular relationship with Tom (lets call them Maddy and Ellie) walked in and seated themselves at one of my tables. It must have been at least 5 years since I last met them and even longer since we used to hang out together. I took their orders but they kept on looking at me, trying to figure out if and why I was familiar so I decided to help them out.
âYeah, you know me. We used to hang out after school.â
Both of them shines up and smiles at me, that way you do when you meet people you have not seen in years or even thought about at all but still want to be pleasant to as to find out what they are up to now and if its interesting. And then Ellie goes
âYes! Thatâs it! Youâre Meenite! We used to be in the park all the time! And you used to date Tom!â
Oh, that glory, that wonderful glowing sensation of victory that you usually only find in the daydreams of a teenage mind - to have the privilege to be able to experience it for real.
âNo, honey. I am still dating Tom.â
