Steve got so wrapped up in Upside Down business he forgot he was supposed to meet Billy at the Quarry for their newly arranged very frequent "dates"....
Bonus:
this shot of the joker pulling up his pants leg seems to imply that the white part of his feet is actually just bare skin, not fabric spats over a pair of dress shoes, as i had always assumed?? which means that the animated series joker has actually been wearing, like, kitten heeled pumps this entire time
Just wanted to let you know I thought about this post so hard I ended up cosplaying it đ
Inspiration
i am frustrated with the way a lot of people view recovery. it is not a moment in the semi-distant future in which everything will magically heal, and you will no longer carry your pains and your hurts. recovery doesnât mean âhaving a normal lifeâ, recovery doesnât mean being happy all the time, it doesnât mean being âproductiveâ or whatever else.
recovery is the process through which you learn to live with your symptoms/problems/triggers/issues/etc, to deal with them with as little self-destruction or other-destruction as possible. and it may never be over! because human life is full of stressors and hardships, especially in todayâs society, and for a lot of people there will always be triggers to manage and episodes to cope with and harmful urges to redirect.
it does get so much easier with practice - when we find a good coping mechanism and stick with it, it may even become second nature - but we will never stop needing the effort.

Ok so I've found a way to describe what Neurodivergent Can't Do Task Mode⢠feels like to neurotypicals
So you know how you can't make yourself put your hand down on a hot stovetop? There's a part of your brain that stops you from doing that? That's what Neurodivergent Can't Do Task Mode⢠feels like
Even if we want to do it, there's a barrier stopping us from doing it, and it's really hard to override
And why does our brain see the task as a hot stovetop? Because when neurotypicals finish a task, they get serotonin, but we don't get that satisfaction after completing a task. A neurotypical wouldn't get serotonin from putting their hand on a hot stovetop, it would just hurt. When we can't do a task, it's because our brain knows that the task will hurt (metaphorically) and wants to avoid that.
It's not that we're choosing not to do the task, it's that our brain is physically preventing us from doing it.
Neurotypicals can and should reblog but please don't add anything
(Sorry/not sorry about the random bolding, it makes it easier for us to read)
Oh thatâs a great example. Itâs not even really a metaphor in some cases. Because this is exactly what some of our brains are doing. For one reason or another the brain thinks that the task in question is dangerous or harmful and the mechanism keeping us from doing it is a survival mechanism.
This is such an important thing to remember.
Important life lesson here
This.
âyou want to kill your circumstancesâ
You want to kill your pain
I really needed to hear this. And I am sure that others do too.
It's weird having people ask so many questions about food sensitivity and allergies like they want to know if they're valid. Like a fandom gatekeeper asking me qualifying questions to see if I'm really a 'fan'.
Like 'oh you have food allergies, name your top five symptoms'. Bitch, you're not my doctor, I have nothing to prove to you.
Doesn't matter if I just don't like to eat something or I'm so allergic I'll be hospitalized, please respect when I say I have a food sensitivity.

Fat acceptance means accepting unhealthy fat people. I donât care if it doesnât support your respectability politics. Unhealthy fat people (including those whoâs illness is related to their weight) deserve respect.
Itâs almost like - crazy thought here - every single human being inherently deserves respect and freedom from shame regardless of their circumstances.

this winter is going to be very hard.
I keep seeing people nervously joking about april to september being nothing more than a black space and as someone who has been studying trauma for as long I haveâ donât let it be. go back. look at the pictures you took on your phone, read old journal entries, if you donât have them, use this last bit of summer to document beautiful moments, moments you were proud of, moments that comforted you, and start to build at least the beginnings of a kindhearted story about how you handled the spring and summer of 2020. that simple framework of a story is the scaffolding youâll use for your future recovery, it is invaluable. let it be a black space if it wants to but scatter a few campfires in there for your own sake.
This is solid advice - depression makes you view life as an empty expanse and ruins your memory. Give yourself tools to argue with it - make sure you know it's a lie. If you let what the depression says be "true" it will only get its claws in deeper.
Locking your wheelchair lift and requiring disabled people to find an employee to unlock AND OPERATE it is a direct violation of the ADA.
âThe [ADA] Standards require âunassistedâ entry and exit from lifts (§410.1). Situations in which platform lifts are locked and require users to request or retrieve a key for operation will not satisfy this requirement for independent operation.â
âAttendant operation, although recognized by the ASME A18.1 Standard, is expressly prohibited by the ADA Standards. Platform lifts must provide âunassisted entry and exit from the liftâ (§410.1).â

Smells like a lawsuit waiting to happenâŚ
This is not great, but itâs likely because people are fucking stupid and will screw around with it if itâs not locked up.
[ID: @gavrielabrahams âItâs probably because people were peeing in it.â]
You think people were peeing. In an open wheelchair lift. In the middle of a museum. With public toilets around the corner.
I think not.
But even if people had been peeing in it or otherwise misusing the lift⌠It. Doesnât. Matter. Itâs not just ânot great.â Itâs ILLEGAL. It is just as illegal to lock off a wheelchair lift as it is to not provide one to begin with.Â
The correct response to people peeing in an elevator is never to lock the elevator. It is to provide a toilet. If you think the correct response to any problem is to violate the civil rights of an entire group of people by denying them access, YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM.
Disability rights are civil rights.
You want to know exactly how this went down? Let me tell you a tale.
I was visiting the museum with friends. They went on around the corner while I finished looking at the previous exhibit. I then followed them around the corner only to find I couldnât get up to the exhibit because the museum AS PART OF THEIR POLICY had illegally locked the lift. My friends didnât know the lift was locked (why would the lift be locked?) and had no idea that I couldnât get to them.
Now I, the disabled person, am forced to travel halfway around the building to the front desk to find someone to unlock the lift for me, wait for them to finish what theyâre doing, and then travel all the way back to the lift. This was bad enough in a wheelchair. Who else uses lifts? Oh yes. People who struggle to walk. Can you imagine, as a person who struggles to walk, being forced to walk halfway around a building, and then back again, just to access an exhibit? You wouldnât do it. Youâd skip the exhibit. Youâve just been completely denied access.
So finally the museum employee unlocks the lift and then operates it (because yes, theyâve made it so I canât operate it myself, which is also illegal). I finally get to the top probably ten minutes later, only to find that my friends have finished looking at the exhibit and are heading down again, wondering what has happened to me.Â
After Iâve gone to all the trouble to get up there, fuck it if Iâm not going to look at the damn exhibit. So I look at it, then head back to the lift to go back down, only to find theyâve locked the lift with me at the top and gone back to the front desk.
If one of my friends hadnât stayed up there with me, Iâd probably still be up there. As it was, my friend had to go down the stairs, back around to the front, find an employee, and get them to come back and let me down. Leaving me sitting up there. Alone. For another five minutes.
Now imagine if I had gone to the the museum by myself. Or what if there had been an emergency? You think if there was a fire some museum employee who couldnât be assed to leave the damn lift unlocked until I had come back down would really have run back into the building to unlock the lift so I could get down? I think not.
Locking an accessibility feature is never the right solution. It is denying access to an entire class of people. Which is ILLEGAL and a CIVIL RIGHTS VIOLATION.
Disability law is civil rights law.
Also making lifts that disabled people wouldnât be able to use by themselves means implying that if we are disabled we canât be independent and this is wrong.
Disabled people should have the possibility to go whatever they have to go by themselves if they feel like doing so.
Only we can decide what our limits are!
Itâs not just wrong - itâs illegal. The ADA specifically says that the disabled person must be able to use the lift alone and unassisted. Requiring an attendant operate the lift is a violation of federal disability law.
is this also applicable in a school setting? there are lifts that require keys that students cannot have (even disabled students).
Yes this is illegal even in a school setting. If the lift is the accessible route between two floors then disabled students must have free access.
ADA requirements for elevators
If places are going to require that an employee operate a lift then they should require that an employee be near the lift at all time ffs
Hey so fun fact thatâs still illegal. The ADA specifies that the disabled person must be able to run the lift themselves, unaided. If it requires a helper itâs an ADA violation.
