It’s crazy to look back on the Netflix Cowboy Bebop remake (which I actually watched in full for some godforsaken reason) because it truly was that awful! But expressing that would put you on the side of the most insufferable, nostalgia-brained, alt-right culture war manchildren on the internet. Like it actually WAS horribly written. It actually DID participate in a decent amount of tokenism, and tried so hard to be progressive that it looped right back around to being offensive at times. It actually DID miss the key themes of the entire show. It WAS insufferably boring at times and did not need all the extra length. (40 minute episodes??? Why???) But holy fuck was I not going to let myself side with a bunch of grown ass men bullying a child actor and sexually harassing an actress for not wearing the “right” clothing!! I guess I can say it now though: that shit truly was ass. Straight up garbage. Probably shouldn’t have happened. The mentality that they were “fixing” the original show truly was insufferable and overzealous. I just wish it ended with calling that out- and not a whole bigoted harassment campaign
