I met all my weird gay friends through the first person I met at my own confirmation school.

This confirmation ceremony itself usually involves a big fancy family party and most kids are more interested in getting to dress up and have cake and receive financially lofty gifts from family. This has traditionally also been the time that boys are bought their very first Real Adult Grown Men's Suit And Tie, making it a big deal.

And apparently they now have a special summer camp for queer kids (the name used here is a finnish wordplay, "rainbow-ish", which is generally used as an umbrella term for everything LGBTA+) to better accommodate them. So this would make it a lot easier to network with other little gay kids their own age, making it an excellent opportunity for them to make friends and community.
