Never getting over Charlie Kirk getting shot in the throat right after he uses it to downplay gun violence. Gotta be a top 3 assassination. Up there with Shinzo getting doohickey'd.
It's on some straight up Greek play shit. Man who uses his voice to justify violence and stir evil for years meets his end as that very violence tears out his throat. Poetic. Captured live from multiple angles. People stole his blood soaked merch to hock and his wife was giddy about sale numbers during his funeral.

in general I find that "why did someone behave this way" is almost always answered by "behaving otherwise was too difficult and frightening for them at the time," and then you have to dig into why that is. people behave in ways that feel 1. easy for them (do not require much thought or effort) 2. accessible to them (patterns that have worked many times before) and 3. safe for them (apparently predictable outcome)
this is true even for behavior that is absolutely horrific and totally unacceptable. which can be a tough thing to accept, I think.
everyone lives nothing bad ever happens in westeros au where King Daeron lives to be old af and hosts a huge tourney to celebrate his 75th birthday or something. and Baelor is low key old at this point too, but for sure can still get it, and since it's his dad's tourney and all the noble lords will be there he enters the lists.
and dunk, who has been Baelor's sworn sword (with benefits, he's not kingsguard in this one tho)since Ashford meadow and therefore has had training and is pretty damn good at jousting now, is planning to enter as well, but he doesn't know that Baelor is. then he finds out Baelor is doing it and he's like absolutely not fuck that, I'm going withdraw. I'm good but he's Baelor fucking breakspear, I don't want that smoke.
but baelor is like no dunk do it it will be fun, and dunk would literally eat dirt if Baelor told him to so he's like ooookay I'll do it.
so they both win their first few tilts and eventually get matched against each other (we're doing a different tourney format than Ashford). and dunk is like I'm so fucking cooked. my prince boyfriend is about to put me in the dirt so bad.
and all of Dunk's knight buddies are hyping him up like crazy, so he goes for the first tilt, and is about to throw up from nerves meanwhile Baelor is reliving the glory days and having the time of his life.
first tilt, they both get good hits but stay on, and dunks friends are going absolutely crazy, like game 7 Stanley cup overtime win celebration, bc he made it for one pass.
and Dunk's like holy fuck. I'm doing it! I'm doing it!
second pass, same thing.
third pass. we're still on.
they break seven fucking lances.
and the whole tourney is going crazy. singers are already writing songs about it. dunk is like I'm a fucking jousting weapon, I didn't realize I had gotten so good.
then from across the lists, Baelor winks at him or something, and Dunk realizes he's been fucking with him the whole time. like could have put him in the dirt at any point but was just playing him. and he's good enough that like you wouldn't notice. he made it look real.
eighth pass. Dunk gets absolutely yoinked. but baelor is having such a great time he's like ayyy let's continue with swords!! and dunks like jokes on you, I'm better with a sword and you're old and I'm in my prime.
and it takes every bit of Dunk's skill and strength but he fucking wins it.
and baelor is so very chivalrous about it meanwhile dunk is like I'm going to kill my boyfriend, but also everyone is cheering for him and he's the man of the hour and everyone thinks he's the coolest guy around.
anyway he probs gets absolutely dogged the next round because he's so tired but it doesn't matter bc that was the greatest thing anyone has ever seen
for the rest of time any time it comes up Baelor swears it was only four lances

i don't have any more of baelor puffing up like a chicken @snakeonthewater, but I can offer baelor being an old perv lusting after a certain handsome knight
(featuring ser donnel and his witty one liners)
also I wrote this on a horse so don't judge me too harshly on the quality lol
also also, anyone that half asses their jump when getting a leg up is going straight to hell, but we'll excuse it for baelor just this once
The stableboy had a tight hold on Lady, gripping the reins a mere inch or two from the bit. The boy was obviously terrified of the animal, as most of the grooms and squires were, but was evidently more afraid of displeasing a prince than he was of the horse. Lady had little enough work since Baelor left for Ashford Meadow, having been left behind in Kings Landing with nobody able to manage the animal, and as such was quite fresh, and even more excitable than usual. She pranced circles around the groom, occasionally pausing to snap her teeth at the boy, shaking her head and snorting. It would be nothing for Baelor to grab a bit of mane and jump onto his mount; he could do as much fully armored, and today he wore only simple breeches and doublet, but as he was about to do so he saw Ser Duncan enter the stables, and a different idea crossed his mind.
“Ser Duncan,” Baelor called. The man seemed surprised to be addressed, and looked up sharply at the sound of his name. “A hand, if you would be so kind.”
This was folly of the worst sort Baelor knew, and yet some part of his mind was quietly excited by the opportunity.
Ser Duncan hastened over, eyeing the mare warily as he approached, “Your Grace,” he greeted, for a moment Baelor thought he might go to one knee; he often erred on the side of formality, and was quick to show deference, but after a seconds hesitation he seemed to decide to keep his feet.
“I find I don't jump quite as well as I used to,” Baelor said, lying, “Would you mind terribly giving me a leg?” It was a groom's task, and not needed besides, but he knew Ser Duncan was always eager to serve. Out of the corner of his eye he caught Ser Donnel and Ser Roland, who were already mounted on their own horses, exchanging a look that Baelor did not think entirely innocent.
If Ser Duncan thought anything strange of the request he did not show it. “Of course,” he replied.
“Best be quick about it then, she won't be patient,” Baelor said. He went to the mare's side, the stableboy managing to hold her still, and bent one leg. Ser Duncan followed, grabbed him by the knee, and hoisted him onto the horse. Baleor had only made a small effort at jumping, letting Ser Duncan do most of the work, and was not disappointed. He could've thrown me clear over the side of her, if he wanted to, Baelor thought as he took a tighter hold of his reins. It was oddly thrilling to imagine. As she was prone to do, Lady trotted off the second Baelor was in the saddle, but he wheeled her sharply around so that he could face Ser Duncan. He made little effort to disguise the way his eyes wandered over the knight, appraising; he still bore traces of a harder life, a bit thin, lacking in muscle, and carrying himself like he was afraid he would be tossed out onto the street at any moment. Once he is properly fed and trained though, he will be quite something, Baelor thought.
“Come ride with me Ser,” Baelor found himself saying, and at this Ser Duncan was plainly shocked, his eyebrows shooting up, his jaw dropping. He stood mutely for a moment, and Baelor tacked on, “If you aren't otherwise committed.”
“No, I mean, I’m not. Otherwise committed, that is,” Ser Duncan stuttered, then settled, “It would be a privilege.” The man was blushing, color bright on his cheeks, making the blue of his eyes seem even brighter.
“Have the grooms ready your horse, and meet us at the gate, I best get this one moving,” Baelor said. Lady had started pawing savagely at the ground, pulling up large clods of dirt. Dunk went off to fetch his horse, and Baelor gave Lady a small touch of spur to move off towards where the Kingsguard were waiting.
He had hardly reached them when Ser Donnel said “Should I send for a maester, Your Grace?” For reasons inexplicable to Baelor, this was apparently quite humorous to Ser Roland, who turned his horse away to hide his amusement.
“A maester? What for?” Baelor asked.
“You could get on your horse well enough yesterday, today not, I thought something might ail you?” Ser Donnel’s tone rang with false sincerity, “Your injuries from Ashford Meadow, perhaps?”
I love the moment (captured so wonderfully by OP) in the last gif because, as I think I've said before, Baelor does the same slowblink thing that cats do when they want you to know that they like you
