Every detail in this story from Katyaâs life is more absurd than the last
This is an amazing life story in under 3 minutes.
Trixieâs eternal look of bewilderment when Katya goes off on one of these will never wear thin
Fun Fact: Wasp spray is much more effective than pepper spray or mace and the creep that you spray will literally have to go to the hospital, unlike pepper spray that wears off. It stings more and literally itâs much cheaper and more accessible. I have a can in my car and Iâve never had to use it (thank god) but it doesnât expire, all you have to do is give it a shake like once in a while, unlike mace or pepper spray. A bunch of girls at my college have a can, and my campus police officer swears by it. Just putting that out there because hey, you never know. Stay safe y'all đ¸

A black woman can be as sexual or modest as she likes. You still need to respect her. No matter her skintone or size. You do not own her.

Both fetishizing AND demonizing Voodoo as âspooky witchcraftâ is racist.
African and afrodiasporic religions deserve respect.
âLetâs pretend, for a moment, that you are a 22-year-old college student in Kampala, Uganda. Youâre sitting in class and discreetly scrolling through Facebook on your phone. You see that there has been another mass shooting in America, this time in a place called San Bernardino. Youâve never heard of it. Youâve never been to America. But youâve certainly heard a lot about gun violence in the U.S. It seems like a new mass shooting happens every week. You wonder if you could go there and get stricter gun legislation passed. Youâd be a hero to the American people, a problem-solver, a lifesaver. How hard could it be? Maybe thereâs a fellowship for high-minded people like you to go to America after college and train as social entrepreneurs. You could start the nonprofit organization that ends mass shootings, maybe even win a humanitarian award by the time you are 30. Sound hopelessly naĂŻve? Maybe even a little deluded? It is. And yet, itâs not much different from how too many Americans think about social change in the âGlobal South.â If you asked a 22-year-old American about gun control in this country, she would probably tell you that itâs a lot more complicated than taking some workshops on social entrepreneurship and starting a non-profit. She might tell her counterpart from Kampala about the intractable nature of our legislative branch, the long history of gun culture in this country and its passionate defenders, the complexity of mental illness and its treatment. She would perhaps mention the added complication of agitating for change as an outsider. But if you ask that same 22-year-old American about some of the most pressing problems in a place like Ugandaââârural hunger or girlâs secondary education or homophobiaâââshe might see them as solvable. Maybe even easily solvable. Iâve begun to think about this trend as the reductive seduction of other peopleâs problems. Itâs not malicious. In many ways, itâs psychologically defensible; we donât know what we donât know. If youâre young, privileged, and interested in creating a life of meaning, of course youâd be attracted to solving problems that seem urgent and readily solvable. Of course youâd want to apply for prestigious fellowships that mark you as an ambitious altruist among your peers. Of course youâd want to fly on planes to exotic locations with, importantly, exotic problems. There is a whole âindustryâ set up to nurture these desires and delusionsâââmost notably, the 1.5 million nonprofit organizations registered in the U.S., many of them focused on helping people abroad. In other words, the young American ego doesnât appear in a vacuum. Its hubris is encouraged through job and internship opportunities, conferences galore, and cultural propagandaâââencompassed so fully in the patronizing, dangerously simple phrase âsave the world.ââ

the fact elon mask genuinely might ruin the night sky for everyone makes me wanna sharpen my shovel and get to work
For those who are confused, SpaceX has been putting a metric fuckton of little sattelites into low earth orbit, and theyâre well on their way to making earth-based visual astronomy impossible.
Like, this was a picture taken by an observatory in Arizona
The streaks are all SpaceX satellites. So you can see why thatâs a bit of a problem.
When the rich take even our stars I think itâs time to grab for an axe
So you might have seen this image going around the internet.
[ID: A high school hallway crammed with shoulder-to-shoulder teenagers, about three of whom are wearing masks. End ID.]
This is a high school in my area. This was the first day back. This picture, taken by a student, went viral (ha), and the superintendent was more or less forced to make a statement. Itâs long and itâs a lot of bullshit but hereâs the big stupid part.
âOne area where we have received a good deal of feedback is mask use in our schools. Wearing a mask is a personal choice and there is no practical way to enforce a mandate to wear them. What we will do is continue to strongly encourage all students and staff to wear masks.â
If I have to explain to you the staggering level of bullshit in this statement, then youâve never been an AFAB person in high school. Tank top? Sent home. Jeans too tight? Home. Collarbones showing? Home. Never mind the application of out-of-school suspension, which is its own kind of bullshit that weâre not here to discuss today. If you can send someone home for showing too much ankle you can send them home for not wearing a mask.
Iâve seen pushback against him on Twitter but theyâve already proven they donât give a shit what we think, or care about the safety of the students OR staff. Only that things look like theyâve gone back to normal.
So itâd be a real shame if people from all over blew up their phones at 770-443-8000 or used faxzero.com to send 5 free faxes per day to 770-443-8089 making known their concerns about this anti-response to a massive public health risk. Make it a national issue and maybe shame our government into acting like theyâve got a single brain cell between them. Itâd just be real upsetting. Iâm just saying.
HEY GUESS WHAT ITâS WORSE THAN THAT
â Within days of that workout, several North Paulding [football] players had tested positive for the coronavirus. The schoolâs parents were notified just hours before the first day of class.â
âJamesâ parents saw the photograph that had been circulating Tuesday and told him, âYou are not going back to school again,â he said. But a few hours later, his mother had spoken to the school and was told that students who âchose not to go to schoolâ could face suspension or expulsion.â
âAny student found criticizing the school on social media could face disciplinary consequences.â
This is a fraction of the article, please read the whole thing. I didnât know about the expulsion threats - there was a literal three-day window to enroll for virtual. These kids are forced to choose between their health and their academic career. I canât form words, Iâm so fucking mad. Please donât let them get away with this unscathed - Kemp either, this is his goddamn fault.
I was gunna put this in the tags but itâs a lot. When i first started going through the process of getting a diagnosis, i was labelled with ODD. I immediately took issue with this, it seemed like an unfair diagnosis based entirely on the session the psychiatrist had with my parents (which mostly consisted of âmy child is being really difficult on purposeâ), and Hoo Boy when i tell you ODD immediately strips you of your ability to call out anyone on anything, that would be an understatement. I couldnât even disagree or bring up my concerns about the validity of MY OWN DIAGNOSIS without it being labelled as oppositional defiance. Whenever i displayed any negative emotion the âtreatmentsâ did so much more harm than good. When you label someone as âdefiantâ (ugh), when that word is put on their medical record, that person is never allowed to complain about anything again. Knowing that POC are disproportionately affected with this diagnosis makes me feel sick, i can only imagine whatâs being swept under the rug as someone just being âdefiant to authorityâ, not even just in the medical field but as justification for police brutality and mass incarceration. When i say medical racism kills people, this is what i mean.
[image description: a screenshot of a tweet by @_aspienelle that reads âwhite children are more likely to be diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and adhd than black children. black children are over-diagnosed with oppositional defiance disorder. what does this tell us about how the education and medical systems view poc? #blackdisabledlivesmatterâ]

Taylor, thereâs a black owned company, The Folklore, and their brand logo is quite similar to your album merch designs. Iâve attached a picture below and thereâs a bit of rightful confusion as on the outset it seems like their design and intellectual property have been repurposed. While this is potentially on accident, Iâm not sure if youâre aware of the matter? Maybe someoneâs already contacted you about this, but if not would you possibly want to address the likeness? Thank you.
