years ago i saw a mod that makes it so if you shoot james in the face with your bb gun during growing up fast, it'll immediately fade out and go to the next sequence and james will be wearing an eye patch for the rest of the game. i haven't been able to find it since and it breaks my heart...
Allows you to end the tutorial by shooting your father, and even gives him a nifty eye patch for the rest of the game.

HOLY FUCK
What are the odds that the s2 finale has an homage to the fnv intro with blue moon playing as we see new vegas restored to its former glory, all the lights back up, people gambling, etc
without spoiling too much, that head thing Lucy sees towards the end does very much feel right at home with a lot of OG fallout fucked up scifi shenanigans like the master, robobrains, lobotomites, basically anything going on in big mt, etc
fun fact Big Mt is literally just the Venture Compound and thats part of why some of the fucked up experiments come from there lol
I canât believe I didnât notice that before!! Apparently a lot of the references were wild wasteland ones which I didnât have in my last playthrough, but the general vibe is still there + Dr 0 being Rusty Venture

Itâd be funny if the âno confirmed endingâ thing turned out to be a big fat lie & they go into the Lucky 38 looking for House & instead they see Yes Manâs big olâ face immediately greeting them with a â:D Hey there!!!!!! :D :D :Dâ
Something thatâs been really bugging me since seeing episode 5 is Janeyâs age. If she was born in 2065, sheâd be 12 as of 2077, but she looks & acts nowhere close to 12 in the pilot, if even half that.
It seems like an oversight at the moment & I know 2065 was already established in NV as the year Houseâs data coalesced, but if they wanted to keep that year, they could have had it be the day Coop & Barb got married & start the domino effect even further back?? I do wonder how theyâll explain the age discrepancy now that theyâve gone with it being Janeyâs birthday
Aside from blaming it on her just being really small for her age, the only thing I can think of is that itâs Coopâs memory from his pov & somewhat distorted/innacurate & he remembers his daughter being smaller and more vulnerable than she was
While it has been said that they wouldnât confirm a canon ending for the games, I think a lot of people (myself included) thought that a House ending seemed likely with the direction they were going after the season finaleâŚ. but with the amount of repeated narrative emphasis theyâve placed on House always, always being prepared, calculating all possibilities, etc, it seems like itâd make more sense story-wise for it to be anything BUT a House ending just to show what sorts of contingencies heâd have in place for unfavorable outcomes
Something that just dawned on me while replaying New Vegas⌠there comes a point where doing too many quests for certain factions will lock you out of NCR or Caesar questlines. But not House, who you have to kill to reach the point of no return. It seems unlikely that someone with extensive surveillance of the Mojave & your happenings wouldnât be wise to you working against his interests, but he makes no indication of this right up until the point where you kill him. Maybe heâs not worried about your potential betrayal because heâs already got an ace up his sleeve?

What still pisses me off abt fallout 4 is how, in simple text, it is a doomed narrative haunted by both your dead spouse and the child you're tearing the wasteland apart to find. You walk through the park you conceived Shawn in and find children's comic books he would have liked. You go to places you graduated, or were set to give a speech at. You scavenge from the store you probably bought your baby food from. Your home is literally torn asunder and unrecognizable but you recognize it. You pass houses you might have had friends at. Dealerships you might have gotten your car from. The robotics store you got Codsworth from, the only other person who knows what you mean and who you're talking about when you go "I used to take my partner here for dinner," "I had photos of Shawn in this child's swing," "This was the first road I drove on when I got my license."
Like. How fucking haunting. You're the ghost. You're not the one who survived. You died and came back, and to the ones who've grown up here, you're Wrong. You don't act like anyone they've met before. And they don't seem to notice all the things that are incorrect. Everything you are is Wrong. You're a puzzle piece removed and shoved back into it once it was chopped up and sewn back together, and you don't fit. But you're there. Your partner is not with you. They died when you didn't. And your baby, probably one of the last babies before the War, is somewhere out there.
And it's genuinely fucking haunting but the game just does not portray that feeling of wrongness and desperation.
Sometimes I walk through places that I absolutely adored and they just don't exist anymore and I feel crushed about it. I imagine it's that feeling but turned up to a 100 and combined with grief for the people that were there as well

liberty prime is very good and east coast fallout is shit around it
mutilated-regurgitator: Was he though? Kinda fit the "meh" standard of the rest of F3 and F4. Had some funny robo-one-liners I guess?
he functions as an ironic consequence of mccarthyism and unthinkable military spending, he does personally destroy america, and i like his theming and design. plus liberty prime can pick up a super duper giga mutant by his skull
you can call it shallow that liberty prime throws nuclear footballs but invoking football as a symbol of volatile american rage is well-observed and the pun is right there
the military would want to make a screaming football-themed nuclear mecha if it was hydraulically feasible, a republican president would let them, and the america depicted in fallout would embrace it.
i think people discard liberty prime because he is the physically largest presence in the fo3 ending so everyone associates him with feelings of contempt and disappointment
hello! i stumbled across your blog very recently and am curious as to what the tag v13 means- sorry if youâve answered this before, iâm on mobile!
fallout is based on wasteland. wasteland is based on a canticle for liebowitz. a canticle for liebowitz is about catholics bickering about fiction in the dust of america for hundreds and hundreds of years. it is about religion and the concept of a dark age
VAULT 13: A GURPS Post-Nuclear Adventure was the ip's name in the conceptual phase. the very first VAULT 13 worldbuilding pitch doc--a timeline--spoke of a Dark God, a term deployed throughout Fallout but only contextualized in the fallout bible, which does not actually use the term. Laura has a special voiced line just for Tell Me About: Dark,God: "The what?"
Project V-13 was interplay's original Fallout Online, which was cancelled by the publisher bethesda like fifteen years ago now.
pylon v-13 is a location at the end of Fallout 76's map where a character from Project V-13 built a time portal and disappeared. it is the most cursed location in the game
by accepting its premise, we arrive at v13 lore, the rejection of canon in light of canonical time travel and multiverse, which has always been a thing, and is also literally a joke. it's the realization that fallout is defined by creativity, interpretation, expression, and argument. it is the understanding that non-canon lore and controversial lore are basic and vital pieces of the history of the setting. and it's the begrudging admission that fallout is a cultural legend, irreplaceable and beyond anyone's control. fallout makes sense to everyone and demands our imagination. it always will
enabled by all the most hated and rejected lore, my characters are time-travelling supervillains who know the things i know, and scour the wastelands endlessly to expand their knowledge. this diegetic headspace and cosmology is a lens i use to explore the concepts of conspiracy theory, paranormal thought, religion, and occultism, all of which i am deeply critical of. i have learned a lot about these matters because i was able to fully engage with them in the context of fallout.
also the talking deathclaws lived in vault 13 and the courier carries the vault 13 canteen. there's also some esoteric shit about 13 high priests, 13 ghouls, and 13 landmarks. it's a pretty specific throughline. it's there if you're mad enough to look for it. and we'll never really know what it means if anything
thats what it means. to me
another thing i always say is. any setting where humans don't see ghosts is a strange fantasy. humans have always seen ghosts. don't mean ghosts are real. just means folks see ghosts. and at some point you gotta talk about it
hope this isnt complete nonsense

being mischaracterized, being clowned on because of the way they talk, hated for having the audacity to be black in a videogame, awesome, suicidally depressed but willing to continue anyway, the best, has a cool weapon, military background to have complicated feelings about, offers a new beginning, people misunderstand their approval of violence, did i mention they're Cool and Awesome, nice voices :), more humorous than people make them out to be,
good morning thought of more.
That Got Dang Meme, fun outfits, want to see society grow and prosper but (at the time we meet them) is having Such a hard time believing it can be done, unique and interesting perspective on the world, place their lives in the hands of the player character, REALLY fun character foil to a LOT of other characters including the PC themselves, just SO incredibly cool, So So Tired, REALLY struggling at the time we meet them, has a thing with prewar american history, the last of a group, bears the weight of being the one who survived,
Top 10 F:NV Side Quests/Unmarked Quests You Don't Want To Miss
These are specifically quests that I think are particularly entertaining, offer unique role-playing opportunities, and/or provide interesting insights into the game's npcsâand which I think are pretty easy to miss. For that reason, I haven't included any companion quests or some of the more prominent side quests.
1. The White Wash - Discover why the NCR sharecroppers aren't getting their full allotment of water and what happened to Corporal White. My recommendation: bring Arcade.
2. Silus Treatment - Help Lieutenant Boyd at Camp McCarran in her interrogation of Silus, a Legion Centurion. My recommendation: do this with Speech 50 or Intelligence 8.
3. Someone to Watch Over Me - Help Crandon keep North Vegas Square safe from squatters/Greasers; discover what happened to Alice Hostetler and advise her with regard to her family problems.
4. Aba Daba Honeymoon - Help Diane and Jack of the Great Khans with their chem trade. You can learn the special unarmed move, Khan Trick, by completing this quest.
5. Why Can't We Be Friends? - Either facilitate an alliance between Samuel Cooke and the Powder Gangers of Vault 19 and the Great Khans, or destroy the caves for Philip Lem and convince him to either join the Khans or turn himself and the Powder Gangers in to the NCR.
6. I Fought the Law - Help Eddie deal with some problems the Powder Gangers have had since taking the NCRCF.
7. A Final Plan for Esteban - Retrieve Esteban's body from the Fiends for his widow, Private Morales, who is stuck at Camp McCarran. My recommendation: speak to the NCR troopers stationed nearby the Fiend base before and after retrieving the bodies.
8. Malleable Mini Boomer Minds - Make friends with the kids at Nellis. My recommendation: bring a rocket souvenir or dino toy (distinct from a dinky souvenir).
9. Rotface's Loose Lips - Get the hot goss from Rotface in Freeside. My recommendation: talk to him at least 30 times so you don't miss anything juicy.
10. Thought for the Day - Have your fortune told by the Forecaster beneath the 188 Trading Post.
