The Color Yellow and it’s meaning.
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve been on here. I’ve changed a few things and yes, it is semi- Twenty One Pilots themed. There’s lot of yellow and that’s just a coincidence.
A few months ago, when I was in a dark place, I opened a piece of mail and out of nowhere, a yellow piece of paper fell out that read “And sure enough, even waiting will end... if you can just wait long enough.” A quote by William Faulkner. The timing was so bizarre. The day before, I’d reached a new low and felt defeated. Felt like all I could do was wait because I was doing all that I could to get the negativity out of my life. The word “wait” and idea of waiting made me breathless. I felt suffocated and trapped. I was unhinging and the VERY next day, that quote literally fell into my lap. It changed my entire mindset to say the least.
A few people that I’ve told the quote to see it as simple and obvious but they don’t see it the way I do. Because of its impeccable timing and ability to avoid an entire mental breakdown, I cannot shake this quote out of my mind. The quote itself and the entire mantra behind it have become a part of me now. I wish to meet the person who put that tiny yellow slip of paper in that envelope that day. They have no idea what they’ve done for me. How mature they have made me. The impact they’ve had on me, and I don’t know a single thing about them.
So that was back in April, a few months before anything Twenty One Pilots was released. Before Trench started popping up, the color yellow was already so significant for me because the quote that changed my life was on yellow paper.
When I saw that Trench was yellow and how Tyler and Josh were interpreting the color, I was so enamored. This album (so far) is EVERYTHING I’m going through/feeling. Defeating my demons, sometimes falling back into them but finally having the courage to stay and fight back.
Yellow - it seems so insignificant but it has so many meanings to me.
One more meaning on this color that makes it so special to me: I have synesthesia. I see colors associated with numbers. My whole ‘almost-mental-breakdown’ about 6 months back was because I felt stripped of power. I had to sit in my own internal struggle, utterly powerless for a whole more year. 2019 is the year I can move on. The year I looked at as having my power back, being able to move forward and away from negativity. Long story short, since I was little, the number 9 has always been yellow. But now, the word “wait”, the feeling of waiting, the number 9, the year 2019 and the most meaningful quote to me are always represented in Yellow. An amazing album that reverberates all the power and growth I’m experiencing right now is always around me in Yellow.
My room, where I reflect and sleep every night is grey, white and yellow. I look at the one long yellow stripe surrounding my room and the 3D flowers hung up on the solid grey wall and I’m always reminded of how so many coincidental things happened in the last 6 months. Happy coincidences that have forever changed me. Energies from all over, striking me down deep in my psyche and carrying me to a better place. My room, my being, my life and my actions all reflect yellow. They’re all yellow.
