I've started to realize that every time I try to wear my noise-canceling headphones out to public places, I tend to feel shame or anxiety. (I don't know the exact feeling but something like that.) Like wearing these headphones to help with my sensory issues are showing disrespect to the people around me. I really don't know why and I don't know where this feeling is coming from. Do any of you have any tips to get through this issue?

It's cynically ironic how trans people are on the one hand expected to trace their transness back to their childhood in order to be taken seriously, while we're on the other hand repeatedly told that children are supposedly "too young" to think about such matters.
