Queer pride is over, but now its disability pride :3
Pride 2.0!
I genuinely do not understand the vitriol people — even other enben — have for the terms trixic, toric, etc. Nobody is saying “you have to use these words because you are nonbinary and you can’t describe yourself any other way”. There is simply a good chunk of us who feel like terms such as “lesbian” and “gay” are too binarizing for us. It’s not going to kill you to learn the terms that enben are using to describe their relationships. It really just reads as incredibly exorsexist. How can you say you support nonbinary people while insisting they don’t make more inclusive terms for themselves when they feel it’s necessary? Have you ever considered that we might want to create our own space instead of having to carve ourselves one inside of binary labels?

I hate that there's no room for nonbinary people in media. When a character's gender is "ambiguous" (neither seen as masculine nor feminine) and solely referred to with neutral terms such as "they/them" and person, individual, etc, people can't stand that. They can't stand the idea that a nonbinary person wouldn't want to be a boy or girl, isn't a boy or a girl. They have to be a girlthing or a boything (why are all nonbinary people things? Why is it never girlenby or boyenby?), they have to be transfem or transmasc. When they're put into relationships, they have to be either lesbian or gay. Nobody can be cenelian or enbian or diamoric or gai or strayt or trixic or toric. That doesn't exist.
I'm sick of it. I'm sick of seeing nonbinarity be shoved into category after category after category when the whole point of being nonbinary is that we want to opt out.
"haha I thought that said exorcism!"
Okay? Why tell us this? What's the point of coming into a space where people are using accurate vocabulary for describe the systemic oprression and social discrimination they face to subtly mock the vocabulary? It doesn't matter if you don't mean it as mockery, it is still a childish comment that completely details the conversation, as everyone is now invested in educating the binary person who doesn't know nonbinary language or school the person making a joke out of it. Maybe this is just a pet peeve of mine, but it's profoundly irritating nonetheless.
You do not have to tell us what you thought it was or make a joke, or go into places of active theorising and conversation and make it all about your lack of knowledge of nonbinary terminology. As a binary or very binary aligned person, you must be aware of the supremacy you hold, unfortunately even in nonbinary centred spaces. Do not make these spaces for talking about our issues amongst one another become about your misunderstandings.
Streetcat is so special to me because the way I interpret it is that it's about wanting to live your life as who you are with no regrets and not care about what others think about you or what they try to force on you, and it also further touches on the topic of freedom with pain. About how a perfect life where you're safe and always happy and every day is the same thing just isn't life anymore. About how sometimes you should embrace the pain because you are alive and you are free.
You only have one life, not 9, and you should make the most of it, not spend it doing the same thing over and over and being afraid of pain or change or hardships. You will never truly experience life if you don't experience all parts of it. That is such an important thing to me and this song really touched my heart

a thought on streetcat:
in static and spoken for, the singer's design didn't really change. there was like one frame of miku looking different, but otherwise the art style and depiction of miku and teto was consistent. miku does not want to change, and teto cannot change.
in human, miki's design goes from a loose sketch to being fully coloured and shaded, mirroring how she develops into a full person.
in ego renegade boy... well yeah, i'd say that the singer's design changes A LOT. the style that he's drawn in never changes, because he's still the same person at his core, but the contrast between pre- and post-transition is very obvious. we also effectively only see the previous design in a "flashback" (rin's verse) - we see hints of it in len's parts, but always concealed in some way (shadowed face, chalk outline).
in streetcat, iroha alternates between a silhouette and full colour. she knows that she wants to live as herself, but adjusting to that is scary - she's flipping back-and-forth between housecat and streetcat. in the end, the song settles into full colour, because she's let go of her fear.
additionally: miki's change comes at the end, when she finds her resolve. len's change happened before the song - he's already transitioned. iroha goes back-and-forth, because she's already decided what she wants, she's just settling into it.

Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
It’s July 20th. That’s the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. I’m ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and I’m going to have a goddamn potluck. You’re all invited.
Hey. Hey. Tumblr. Ides of March ppl. We can do this
Hell yeah moon holiday
Ooh coming up we should celebrate
PITCH: We call it Moon Day, and then every 7 years when it falls on a Monday, that's an even BIGGER deal and we call that Moon Day Monday and go absolutely apeshit about it (the next Moon Day Monday is in 2026 so we have a couple trial runs first)
MOON DAY MOON DAY MOON DAY
moon day is 20th July!!!
Scheduling this a day earlier to remind you all and myself about the Moon Day tomorow!
I scheduled this in 2025 to give you all a week to make Moon Day Monday preparations! I think I will order a little rocket cake or bake some moon phase cookies!
It's coming, cousins. ...This could be as big as March 15th if we made it that way...

this really is the summer for transgender cats
streetcat is definitely a trans allegory but i also think it can be interpreted rlly nicely as being abt autonomy and dignity of risk
iroha wants to live freely even if it hurts, even relishing in the pain to some extent because it signifies a life well lived
she doesn’t want to be caged and restricted and comfortable forever. she wants to be able to live life and be proud of her scars in the end instead of looking back and regretting all the things she didn’t do
these r themes that rlly resonate w me as a disabled person. i feel like sometimes society has this underlying sentiment that disabled people shouldn’t have the choice to put themselves at risk the same way abled people do, because it increases the perceived “””burden””” that they place on society. you can’t win. if it’s painless they tell you you’re not Really Disabled. you push too hard or flare up and they blame you because You Should Know Better and Its Your Fault. they want us to stay out of sight and out of mind so they dont have to remember we exist
i am trans and disabled so. yeah this song really got to me
