soo i wanted to make a masterpost about this (mostly for my own use, but it'd be awesome if other people wanted to use it) so here we go.
Why I Don't Support The DSMP Or Any Of Its Creators
this post is going to be divided by 1. creators and 2. type of problematic behavior (racism, ped0 jokes, etc)

promised to donate any money made from streams during the month of june to the trevor project (a charity dedicated to helping lgbtq youth), then proceeded to not stream for the entire month of june. (there was one stream on his alt, but subs/donations were off) he did donate to the trevor project at the end of june, but this was after people started bringing up the fact he hadn't streamed all month.

Common Arguments
"you're probably [non-marginalized group], this doesn't affect you so you can't talk about it" i am not straight, not cis, not white, and not neurotypical. the dsmp creators have hurt my communities.
"not all of them have done explicitly bad things" this is true! but if you were friends with someone and they made several offensive jokes, would you stay friends with them? no! by extension, all dsmp members are not people you should be supporting.
"that wasn't harmful/problematic" you are literally defending racism, ableism, queerphobia, rape, pedophilia, and so many other horrible things lol fuck you
"they apologized for this" it's not at all uncommon for creators to apologize for things they've said. but consider this: not all apologies are sincere. also, if someone is consistently doing shitty things, then don't you think it's time to stop supporting them? there's probably a reason for them doing those shitty things- it's not that hard to just. be a decent person.
"i like their content, but i don't buy merch or anything, how am i being harmful?" they make money off you watching their videos/streams, and the more people watch their videos/streams, the more likely other people are to see their videos/streams. stop watching the goddamn videos.
"that was just an allegation" i purposefully did not include anything in this post that at least one of my two main sources had factual evidence for. everything in this post has evidence. don't ask me for it. if you want it, check the sources.
In Conclusion
the dsmp creators have consistently made jokes and statements that actively harm marginalized communities. they are not people you should be supporting. full stop. anyone who continues to support the dsmp after fully reading this post is supporting the creator's actions and you can fuck off 💕 there is no room for racists, ableists, rapists, pedophiles, or queerphobes on my blog.
