Hello there, I'm vivi or vivian, she/her, adult, and writer extraordinaire!
Sometimes I doodle, sometimes I drabble, and sometimes I simply lurk quietly on the dash with my fists full of blorbo posts.
Any asks are appreciated and encouraged!
I mostly main Hermitcraft and the Life smps (TangoTek in particular), as this is what I write for mostly, but you can also find scraps of other fandoms, such as Dsmp (Technoblade never dies), Qsmp (Tallulah my beloved), and other non-mcyt related things (Reptiles, Batfam, MCU, various video games, Star Wars, Owl City, Critical Role & Midst, etc. etc.) among my rebloged posts.
I have a ko-fi!
If you like my writing and would like to help support me, you can send a tip my way! I release writing teasers and exclusive sneak peaks for my writing there.
My commissions are [OPEN]
My AO3 is ViviTheAnimaxen, feel free to stop by and check out what I have up there.
Emberfish AU Masterpost - here!
Dragonfrost AU Masterpost - here!
I have made an interactive story sideblog! find it - here!
The tags I use most of the time are as follows:
#dont mind me - my original posts
#viviq - posts from my queue (although i dont quite put this tag on consistently. your millage may vary)
#viviwrites - anything to do with my own original writings
#vivirambles about - when I talk about stuff. The thing I'm talking about is typically tagged after this one.
#vivianswers - for answering asks!
#viviasks - for polls and also genuine questions to the ether
#viviplays - for pictures or video of me playing video games. It will probably end up all minecraft. But that's to be expected.
The tags I use for my aus are:
#Voiceless au - this au is mostly over on ao3, but some of it is here. A hermits are deities au, with empires and dsmp crossover.
#Emberfish au - this au has only been on my tumblr. I may move it over to ao3 at some point, who knows! A hermitcraft - life smp mermaid au, focused mainly on team zits and the ranchers. Tango is a merdude, hence, Emberfish.
#Emberfish asks - asks I have gotten about the emberfish au that don't have any particular lore to them.
#Dragonfrost au - this au is pretty evenly split between here and ao3. the 'official' fic is over on ao3, but there is a lot of worldbuilding and general silliness over here on tumblr, as well as worldbuilding. It's a dark ranchers au with a dragon!Tango and warlock!Jimmy, with a dnd inspired setting and magic system. Giggs+Pearl are planned to make a significant appearance, but i'm not sure when as this au is being written chronologically. unlike emberfish.
#Dragonfrost asks - asks for the dragonfrost au. pretty straightforward
The rest of my tags are an absolute mess. I can't be bothered to deal with them, really.
Anyway, thanks for stopping by, and if you've interacted with anything I've posted or sent an ask-- thanks. I love you, you mean the world to me, have a wonder day.

[ID: a graphic for the Hermitcraft Guess The Author Event. It is a grey square with a dark teal border with Keralis' eyes occupying the middle of the image. White text at the top reads: "The deadline is here! The collection is closed!" White text at the bottom reads: "Readers: It's time to start guessing!" /end ID]
THE COLLECTION IS NOW CLOSED!
READERS: It's time to start guessing! A list of all our authors can be found under the cut, and on the collection itself!
You will have ONE WEEK from today to get your guesses in! Click right here for a handy-dandy countdown clock we've prepared!
HOW DO YOU GUESS?
Just like last year, we've got two options for you!
First, LEAVE A COMMENT! Read the fic, let the author know what you liked, and guess! And if you don’t have a guess, you should still leave a comment! Fic authors live for comments, and you should definitely let them know all the things about their fic!
Secondly, Mod 🔪 has once again prepared a spiffy google form you can submit your guesses to, which you can find (Once it's ready!) by clicking here (once it's ready!)
Authors, kick back and relax. Readers... GET READY! IT'S YOUR TIME TO SHINE!
I think fanfiction as a medium is different enough from mainstream literature in the tools it offers writers that it's a shame that it's not talked about more often. And it's not me saying "fanfic is better than books xD" because that sort of mindset is a symptom of people who aren't particularly well read in either medium. I'm just speaking of like... The little things you get to do with a fanfic that you genuinely can't really do in an original story.
I had a big fanfic in a previous fandom where one of the big reveals was the involvement of a kind of infamous villain, whose presence was built up to and foreshadowed through the whole fic until his reveal without ever mentioning his name, so that the name drop would be a gut punch. It worked especially well because of who the villain was and his presence in that fandom space specifically (it's very complicated) and if it was an original story this reveal wouldn't work at all the way it was written in the fic. Because if you don't have a predisposition to think about that character and his relationship to the hero in a very specific way, then just seeing their name won't do much to you; the reveal and the recontextualisation it pushes upon you hinges on your previous knowledge of the source material.
I think it's an interesting tool fanfic authors are given. One of my favorite fanfic of all time is partially a re-imagining of its source material's canon, and something it does is introduce antagonists much earlier in the story or deepen npcs' stories. It then works to evoke a tragic irony that again wouldn't work if you didn't know the source material, and it's something the author obviously has a lot of fun with.
You could call it cheap or a crutch and I mean, yeah, sure, it is a little bit: the fanfic relies on previously established emotional bonds and stakes to achieve its goal, and in some cases it saves the author from having to 'properly' build up its stakes. But I think it's INTERESTING that it has that tool at its disposal. I think it's a fun thing to play with and I think these built in expectations and emotional bonds are especially why I find story driven aus in particular to be fascinating in the amount of ways you can play with them. You know??

Starter vamp!Legs concept: instead of vampires being purely a supernatural force, they were created by humanity's attempt to escape death – the doctor's "death is the disease and I am the cure" is a much more literal motto when he had a hand in/created his particular strain of vampirism :)

During my time in mcyt fandom, I've watched as the fandom's perception of creator boundaries has grown and shifted into a cornerstone of our fandom, and yet we don't actually have any good data on how the fandom as a whole perceives them outside of discourse posts.
The goal of this unofficial study NOT to make a value judgement on whether creator boundaries should be respected - it is to understand how the fandom currently perceives and interacts with them.* Is respecting creator boundaries important to you? Has your favorite creator made a boundary list or spoken about it on stream? Do you find some boundaries acceptable and others not? Have you ever been the target of hate for engaging with boundary-breaking content? Whether you think boundaries should always be respected or you think they're being used as tools of censorship, I want to hear from you. What are boundaries, and why do they matter so much to us?

This survey is a mix of multiple choice and optional long-response questions. It should take about 15 minutes if you’re only doing the required questions, and much longer if you choose to answer the optional questions.**
If you are able, please reblog and share this survey link around. Feel free to post it on any platform, as I am currently only on Tumblr, which is not representative of the fandom as a whole. In fact, I’d love it if it reached Twitter. The more responses, the more accurate the results will be for the whole of mcyt.*** Anyone in mcyt spaces, including creators, are welcome to take the survey to share their thoughts. However, I ask that for the comfort of content creators and the spirit of good fandom etiquete, please do not directly share the survey with any creator or post the link in any creators’ official communities. Thoughtful discussion is always valued over reactionary comments.
The survey is set to close at 11:59pm EST on August 1, 2026 - I may extend this date if there is still a high volume of responses coming in, or if there aren’t enough responses yet for meaningful data. I will aim to publish the results within a month of the survey’s close, and keep you updated on the timeline if that’s not feasible for any reason.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped beta this survey- you all gave such wonderful suggestions! I wish I could’ve kept every question, but in the end a lot needed to be cut to make this manageable. Please know that I appreciate every one of you, as this survey would not exist today without you.

* Why I think this data is important to collect: The idea for this survey came to me almost a year ago, and I started developing it around February of this year. I’ve spoken with dozens of people about this topic with diverse opinions, read and catalogued hundreds of tumblr posts, rewatched streams and videos by creators and fans, and watched as opinions have shifted across fandoms in real time. I feel extremely confident in saying that every person on every side cares deeply about respecting others and creating safe, welcoming communities in all mcyt spaces. Where they differ is on how to show that respect, which kinds of expectations they think are reasonable in different spaces, and beliefs on how those in power should be using their influence. I don’t expect this survey’s results to fundamentally change anything - this debate has been going on longer than mcyt has existed. But I think it’s still important to analyze the actual arguments people are making and how they affect our communities, instead of focusing on expected behavior from others based on our own values, so we can see the varying expressions of humanity in each other and work towards a better future for our fandom. I don’t think we’re as different as the discourse may have us believe.
** This survey is designed to encourage all participants to think critically about their position and the effects it has. I am aware that I have my own personal biases, so I have taken steps to ensure that the survey is as bipartisan as possible and also gives participants the opportunity to explain their answers for every question if they feel the need. Because of this, there may be questions that make some participants uncomfortable. While I would appreciate knowing why a question has made someone uncomfortable, participants are always free to skip such long-response questions.
*** I’m well aware that any recent discourse on this topic may skew results if arguments on one side are more successful than another in convincing fans of a particular position. I still think the data will be valuable even with a potential skew.
