It’s gratifying to see images from a quarter century ago (though somehow this image feels like it should be from the 80s; or even 60s?) in which all of the components of the 606 system appear unchanged, exactly the same as they do now.
That timelessness and consistency is absolutely part of the appeal. In era of seasonal design revamps, logo redesigns, and annually reinvented car shapes that is comforting and solid.
It also has the (self-servingly, I’ll admit) attractive advantage of meaning tips and tricks like these are evergreen and continue to be useful even as the decades roll by.
