Yeah it’s disappointing how little of the past was in the season. But I’m believing it was an intentional call made for the situation at hand and theres a lot of set up for mandatory revisiting. With good reason

i am so genuinely moved by the fearlessness rolin, and amc’s tvl, has, and how he so fervently attributes it to anne’s spirit. a woman who wrote the way she wrote, with such inwards passion from an extreme outward love, who wrote a sequel for her acclaimed novel by turning the antagonist into a hypersensitive music loving rock star riding motorcycles to bach and exploring existential questions of morality and life and belonging through his soul in 18th ce france. she wrote freely, unabashedly and to her vision, and for the singular artistic fearlessness to be what you as a creative and as a writer take on when adapting the work of the now deceased, is incredibly beautiful and touching. what a gift of impact it is that someone can create work from their own grief (ie anne writing iwtv) and have their emotional legacy be that of the fearlessness they dreamed of embodying- and did, through the sheer audacity of creative material. To allow oneself and ones work to be imprinted by that explosive ambition, that embodied perseverance, and attempt to transfer it into the very drive of something new, is worth admiration. that in the task of honouring a piece of media, the person who made it, their circumstances and attitude which informed it, is as honoured as the work itself
