It’s very difficult for me to like Freyja. Not just because of what we see her do in the comics, but also because we don’t see her be the nice, doting mother to Loki the other characters claim her to be. Because I never saw her being kind to Loki, or call him son, or express her regret on how he turned out, it’s very hard for me to believe she ever loved him and that he’s nothing more than a means to an end. Her regret after banishing Loki from Asgard felt more like she was angry that he called her out on her hypocrisy and she didn’t want to hear him anymore. It didn’t feel like she was mourning Kid Loki’s death, but that she had realized she wasn’t the morally correct one. She wasn’t sorry for what she did or would have done to Loki, she was sorry of what her actions made of her. Until she says something explicit on the comics, instead of other characters saying how much she doted on Loki, I won’t believe she saw him as anything more but a pawn that her husband dumped on her. I can’t find a single panel where she even calls Loki “her son”, while she calls Thor “her son” all the time. That can only show how little she thinks of him. Sure, she lost Aldriff and was forced to raise two children that weren’t hers. But if that was the only reason for her actions, she would have mistreated Thor as much as she mistreated Loki, or even more since Thor was the result of her husband’s infidelity. So the “she had to raise someone else’s child” is not an excuse for her bad parenting. If she loved Thor despite not being hers, she had no reason not to love Loki as well.

she’s addressing Volstagg and is primarily concerned with saving Asgardia though, so yeah.

What I keep coming back to is that, if he was trying to end Loki and Verity’s friendship, he had less than no reason to drop the line “So hard to believe we’ve never met” if he didn’t have to.
