Nico being driven by other team mates vs. Gabi
For @bubreherro
Did you know that Gabriel Bortoleto, is the first Brazilian too be in f1 full time since Felipe Massa?.
Not only that, but that gap ... was the first time since 1970 that Brazil didn't had a full time drivers on the grid! Brazil always had at least 1, if not multiple drivers. it's insane to stop and think about
I really do wish Massa compelled me more because his career was bonkers like:
2006: schumacher's last teammate and expected to be the ferrari successor primary driver
2007: various issues meant the team went all in on kimi raikonnen who won the wdc by one point
2008: lost the wdc by one point on the very last corner of the last race
2009: knocked unconscious in a race and in a coma, came back and the team had switched their attention and support to fernando alonso
2010: victim of team orders so blatant the rules got changed and he was subjected to the most mortifying press conference ever.
2011: bonkers beef season with lewis for some reason
2012: ferrari broke the seal on his gearbox in parc ferme at cota on purpose so he'd get a grid penalty and start behind fernando
2014: fired from ferrari, replaced by kimi raikonnen, did take his beloved engineer with him
2016: retires. big emotional last race in brazil.
2017: came back from retirement when valtteri bottas got the surprise call-up to mercedes post rosberg retirement. retires again.
now: currently suing the fia over crashgate and the first part of the judgment was like he lost the wdc cause he SUCKS.
and the whole smedley love affair is crazy, like Smedley didn't even want to be a race engineer but Massa didn't get on with his previous engineer so badly they basically arrange married them. And then there's the infamous 'Felipe, baby, stay cool' radio incident. Smedley saying, well I didn't think the radio would be public that was just normal coworker talk. SURE. normal coworker talk so normal we're still talking about it 20 years later. Rob had to tell him he lost the WDC and then after the race when he was alone cried for two hours and couldn't stop no matter how much he tried. smedley desperately trying to raise Massa on the radio post-crash :(( then rob blowing up ferrari's spot giving those team orders and then apologising in such a blatant way no one could deny they'd happened. he couldn't let that injustice stand and it came through. and then going to Williams again he couldn't bond with anyone so they had to whisk Rob away from his much more successful team to go to williams. and rob went. (Edit: being corrected that Rob went to Williams first which is different but then I guess he was still willing to engineer for Felipe despite a promotion so let's sya still Romance) Romance!
alas.
“Oscar Piastri biceps” this, “Max Verstappen’s chest” that— Michael Schumacher in a wedding dress.

WHO
I see no one talking about this... but
Nico first teammate being a Brazilian experienced driver in the end of his F1 career (Barrichello), and having Gabi as a teammate when he is now a experienced driver in the end of his F1 career is like idk...
parallels, full circle...
there's something here
snack break
there was a custody battle over Hatsune Miku yesterday that involved a strange amount of football
brazil making it to the round of 16 and paraguay eliminating germany at the penalty shootouts in the same day

i think one of the best parts about being a teenager in the early to mid 2010s was that cigarettes were definitely not cool anymore and vapes hadn’t popularized yet so my lungs made it out of my peak impressionable years relatively unscathed

my grandfather's entire (surviving) family fled from germany to brazil fleeing the holocaust. Why do you think I'd support ANOTHER ethnic cleansing under a genocidal fascist government just because it's the jewish people doing the ethnic cleansing this time?
Every gringo that spreads the "south america was a safe haven for Nazis post WW2" myth deserves a slow death.
The US owes its space program to Nazi scientists. West Germany was filled to the brim with Nazis in the army and government. NATO rehabilitated several Nazi and fascist officers to fight communism. The US has statues dedicated to Nazis. Canada has Nazi memorials and applauded an actual OG Nazi soldier at parliament. The West has no moral high ground to speak about South America when your whole political stance for the last 8 decades has been "Nazis are good when they work for us, actually".
Also, the wildest thing about "Nazis fleeing the Allies by going to Brazil" accusation...
BRAZIL WAS A FUCKING ALLY TOO, YOU DIPSHIT IMBECILE.
There are several memorials and statues dedicated to the "Smoking Snakes", the Brazilian Expeditionary Forces, all over Italy.
When Wernher von Braun "fled" to the US, he became a chief engineer at NASA and a hero.
When Josef Mengele fled to Argentina (and later to Brazil), he had to work as a carpenter under several fake names and couchsurf with the few nazi sympathizers he could find before dying alone, shunned and hated by everyone around him.
Not even his family wants his remains:
Students in São Paulo are examining remains of man known for medical experiments on Jews at Auschwitz to uncover mysteries of his life on th
I've had a Jewish zionist on this website accuse my German great-grandfather of being a Nazi due to being a German who immigrated to Brazil.
My great-grandpa who immigrated to Brazil... in the 1800s. As a baby. Because his dad was against the unification of Germany.
Like, my great-grandpa was definitely racist. According to my mom, he refused to recognize the adopted daughter of one of my mom's cousins because she was Black (Him marrying someone who was part Indigenous was apparently fine, but an adopted Black great-niece was evidently where he drew the line? Racists make no sense).
But racist and Nazi are far from interchangeable terms. All Nazis are racists, but not all racists are Nazis.
My grandmother was part of the war effort AGAINST the Nazis. She helped collect scrap metal and make clothing for Allied soldiers.
It's ironic that the zionist told me to go back to where I came from, because I'm also Indigenous Brazilian (Nambikwara) from the very same side of the family that I have my German heritage.
For context, for non-Brazilians, a good chunk of Brazilians are part-Indigenous but don't know from what tribe, because it was considered the embarrassing, dirty little family secret that no one talked about. But my mom's side of the family was proud of being Indigenous and passed that knowledge down.
Also about the secrecy about "what type of german your ancestor were". A little tale from my family. My grandpa fled Austria in late 1930s with his mom. They managed to stay in Brazil because my grand-grandma got a job offering as a language teacher in a CATHOLIC school.
Later on my grandpa married a CATHOLIC Brazilian woman (my grandma), he raised his kids as catholics. Every cerimony, everything catholic.
Talking about the war, or what his life before Brazil was seeing as taboo in the family, so it led many thinking he might have been a mustache man sympathizer and it was always kinda a silent worry.
Fast forward to 2020... my grandpa has been dead for over 30 years, I started making a family tree. With all the documentation and information I gathered I discovered that he was a jewish man, my grandgrandma was a jewish woman. When I asked around, my older aunt said that she was the only one who knew that and was going to take the info to her grave, because that what my grandpa did. Later on in my research + talking with my aunt I found out that on his father side, every single aunt/uncle and cousin of his died in the holocaust, and that was the main reason he never went back to Austria. So maybe, if someone's family doesnt talk about their german ancestor, it's not because they were bad... maybe they were just that badly traumatized.
BOTH IBERIAN TEAMS BEING ASS AND DRAWING WHEN THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE GOING TO FORSURE WIN BUT THEY DIDN'T LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOO, AHHHHHHHH!!!!!
