Stories about parents who clearly love their kids but still screw them up by how they treat them even if it comes from a place of love and even when they try their best and they just don't know any better are always heartbreaking for me because of my own relationship with my parents. That struggle between needing better from your parents and loving them because they are still just humans doing their best even if their best has consequences that break right over your head, that line between abuse and parenting from a perspective of a generational devide is poignant and important and someting that always speaks to me when I see it on screen

The version of you right now is deserving of love. Not you two years ago when you had more of your shit together, or the five years later version where you’ll surely be thriving. The version of you right now. The one that might just be okay, or is really struggling, or is bored and unproductive. That version deserves love. Having trouble accepting this is fine, but actively denying it is not. Your value is intrinsic, and finding confidence in that is mandatory.
