hey all! i've built a new ao3 fork called fanfiction.lol 🤙🏽 key differences:

🚫 no invite queue: sign up and start posting immediately. no waiting, no velvet rope.

🏳️‍🌈 expanded content warnings: added ableism, homophobia/transphobia, racism, rpf and more. plus relationship tags for aro/ace spectrum, qpr, non-binary/genderqueer focus, poly/ensemble, and more.

🏷️ all tags are canonical: everything you tag goes into the searchable record. no volunteer wrangling bottleneck.

💜 fandom-agnostic moderation: i care about the writing, not fandom politics or discourse. write whatever you want, tag it honestly.

it's a small personal project but fan communities deserve independent infrastructure.

Pairing: Jungkook x reader

Loitering at the edge of the curb that sits just outside your second-floor flat, you exhale a heavy sigh. There’s a long night at work ahead of you, no doubt; taking orders, making idle chitchat - standing on your feet for hours on end - and honestly, the idea of it has you feeling far less than enthused. 

It’s not as though you hate your job. The tips are good and the kitchen staff are skilled enough that you rarely ever have to deal with any complaints, and given that your parents own the place it’s not as though it’s ever a struggle to change your shift or take the day off. Still, some days even the most motivated employees don’t feel like working, and today is one of those days.

Pulling your phone from your back pocket, you make sure to glance from left to right to check for oncoming traffic before succumbing to the lure of the sixth-inch screen now rested in your palm. You’re already smiling as you open the message that’s awaiting you; a reply from Namjoon confirming the plans you’d made to go see a film together this weekend - strictly as friends, of course. As handsome as Namjoon is, the two of you shared far too many childhood paddling pools growing up to ever be able to consider each other as anything more than the very best of friends - a good thing, really, considering he’s about as straight as a right angle.

You step off of the pavement, head bent low as your thumbs tap out a reply to the lightly teasing tone in which he so often texts you; so absorbed by the technology in your hand that you don’t even see the motorbike that’s speeding down the road, heading directly across your path. It’s not until it’s almost right on top of you that you even hear the engine’s roar, but as soon as your brain registers the sound it stops your body in its tracks, reflexively flinching backwards just in time to narrowly avoid being hit by anything more than a strong gust of wind as it careens past.

Panic-stricken, you very nearly drop your phone as you stumble back onto the safety of the pavement, hands shaking, and you don’t even really realise you’re yelling until people around you have started to stop and stare. The woman who’d seen it all happen and had originally begun to approach you to offer her aid has now thought better of it; crossing over to the other side of the road rather than deal with the adrenaline-fuelled rage that has you spewing a litany of curses after the motorcyclist and sticking your first and middle finger up in the air. You know he won’t be able to hear a word of it but you don’t let that stop you, only ending your tirade once his dot of dark hair has disappeared from sight and the sound of his motorbike has faded in the distance; a gentle, distant purr.

𓄯 I just realized it's almost/past National Pet Day when i release this skin. I got the inspiration when i was watching "The Plague Dogs" and realized that i never seen any dog ao3 site skin unlike cat themed skin which i don't mind at all because i'm a cat person myself. Intentionally make this skin look cheery and cozy and bright because i'm traumatized by the movie, it's such a gut wrenching animation film, 10/10👏 would not recommend😭😭😭.

Tutorial how to activate the skin + the code :

‌Copy the code i provided in this GitHub, there is a copy button at the top right(•••) of the code box. And here if you prefer Google doc.

‌Sign to your AO3 account, after that go to "Dashboard".

‌On your "Dashboard", tap on a section called "Skins".

‌On the "Skins" page, tap on the button labelled "Create Site Skin".

‌Give your site skin a unique title, i usually use 2-4 word for the skins that i saved. IF YOUR SKIN NAME IS NOT UNIQUE, YOU CAN'T SAVE THE SKIN.

‌Paste the codes you copied from my GitHub into the "CSS" box.

‌When you're done, scroll to the bottom of the page and click a button labelled "Submit". This will save your site skin and take you to a new page where you can see the title of your skin as well as all of the code.

‌Click "My Site Skin" and you can see the skin are added, press "Use" to activate it.

AO3: Advanced Blocker — VERY VERY customizable blocker for literally anything on the website, heals my OCD brain to the core, very beautiful and clean UI, basically a gem.

AO3: Reorder Ship Tags — reorders ship tags so all platonic ships are placed at the end of the relationship tag order, for more organized and neat look.

AO3: Comment Formatting and Preview — Adds buttons to insert text formatting to your comment, and shows a live preview box of what the comment will look like, very helpful especially for those who aren't familiar with HTML.

AO3: Quick Hide — very convenient script that lets you hide-or more like collapse- works or comments, you can control the visibility of the collapsed item which is so satisfying for some reason, i use it to hide fics that i've already read or downloaded.

AO3: Skin Switcher — tho i no longer switch my skins much anymore but its a very helpful shortcut that saves you the bother of navigating to your skins page, either to edit or set different skins.

AO3: Site Wizard — so basically that is all in one skin editor at your hands, you can customize the site's fonts, colors, work formatting. very straightforward and easier UI for simple skin customizations.

AO3: No Re-Kudos — automatically hides the kudos button on works where you've already left kudos.

AO3: Auto Pseud — auto-selects your pseud for comments and bookmarks on AO3, based on fandom, all you need is to assign each pseud to your desired fandom.

A while ago, I made a site skin that replaces all of the AO3 icons with new ones. I was pretty happy with it, but I wanted more options for changing the colors. So I made a new skin with customizable colors!

Here are previews of the three example color schemes I created (default, berry/reversi blue, and pink) in comparison to the old icons:

Almost all icon background colors (and a few other ones) can be changed to any color you want!
