(Character story) TWWW: slight blood
Beautiful baby girls are not meant to fight. Your tusk is your beauty, you must hone it, keep it sharp, keep it pretty. Strong baby boys don't need tusks for battle, they're carved out of the skull as soon as they grow.
Nora yikemister, a name you shan't forget. She doesn't see the appeal in a tusk, they're in the way of her bangs. the rabbits have it easy their ears droop but a narwhals tusk never softens. She can't count how many times she's hit her tusk against something and hurt her head, it's annoying really.
Nora yikemister a name humans shall fear. Forced into little frilly dresses and figure skates, she never found it fun. Skating on ice, she'd just end up falling anyway. She much preferred swords like her brothers did. But her mother did not approve.
Nora yikemister a name her people scream with pride. She battled her brother with swords winning everytime. She pretended to be a queen protecting her Kingdom, her mother would catch her atop of mountains raising her play sword in the air, a sign of victory. But that isn't what little girls do. You sharpen your tusk til it shines and you skate until your legs are sore. That is the only battle young ladies must face.
Ernest Yikemister, a name the region mourned. He was their military general after all, dying in a battle against humans looking for a war. And the Krystall region gladly accepted, aiming to avenge their soldiers. Battle after battle against the humans, the number of Krystall soldiers dwindled. But they didn't let up.
Aurora Yikemister, Killed in her own home by humans. It was a horrible display for her children to return to, their mother bludgeoned on the kitchen floor. "Why us?" Nora thought, "Why does it have to be my family? We've never done anything wrong."
The role of a man is to protect his family's honor, but that night even the 4 of her brothers didn't stand a chance against the humans. Nora cried, huddled up in her broken home as fire spread throughout the icy land, overpowering the cold. Trees burned; even the Yikemisters' house was close to being engulfed. Nora heard the war cries of her brothers to encourage the soldiers they led, but will motivation truly save her people?
Out of the corner of Nora's eye she saw a woman in the doorway, a tall and large one. she had a tusk just like her, and was muscular like her father was. Though her attire, even the fur on her belt was a shade of blue, there was a veil attached to her tusk covering her face. Nora had never seen a woman with such a phyisique. Could girls really be strong? She stared in awe at the woman.
The mysterious narwhal woman turned her back to her and left. Nora's heart beat quickened. She ran after the woman. When she caught up they were on a ledge above the battle field.
Nora saw the fires and the humans overpowering her kin once again. She couldn't bear to watch it, but what could she really do? She turned to the woman with teary eyes.
"My brothers need your help. you gotta save them!" Nora tugged at the woman's leg but the woman only shook her head. "What's stopping you from doing it?" The large woman asked. Every word she spoke soothed Nora's nerves. "I'm not supposed to…" Nora said, low and whiney. "says who? Your mother and father are gone. And your siblings don't look to be in a position where they can deny your help."
Nora didn't respond just lowered her head. "You can't be both worried and useless. especially if you're in a position where you can help them."
"But I don't have anything," Nora sniffled. "What good am I if I've only lifted toy swords?" Nora sobbed
"That may be. But you have experience with blades already. You skate well. Who is to say they can't be a weapon? Your tusk is sharp like a spear, so why not use it as one?" The Blue woman's words stuck with Nora. The woman handed her the figure skates and gazed down at the battle. Nora's gaze followed hers to see a human man standing over her unconscious brother, ready to finish him off.
Nora Yikemister, a savage who broke the rules her poor mother set for her. A future general bound for greatness. A loud war cry sounded from above, catching the attention of the humans. The human who stood above Nora's brother raised his head to see what caused the noise, and immediately a sharp tusk pierced all the way through his eye. Nora raised her foot and used the blade of her skates to roughly kick him off her tusk, causing scars in doing so, but it didn't matter since he'd died immediately.
Nora Yikemister, she who took on an army with only her skates and her sharpened tusk. Many charged her, their weapons ready to hurt the young lady, but skating is much faster than walking on ice. With every kick, every spin, and every twist, she severed the body parts of many. Using her head as a hilt, she guided her tusk to penetrate her enemies.
By the end of it, small flames scattered across her warm coat. Her tusk dirtied with the blood of her enemies, whilst the blades of her skates were dull from battle. She stared at the large flames that engulfed her village, and the soldiers they'd lost, even one of her brothers, were taken in the battle.
Behind her stood the woman in blue. She offered her hand to Nora. "Join me, and I will help you protect the people you hold dear. no more lost lives and no more tears."
Nora took the woman's gloved hand without hesitation, sniveling while wiping blood off her little face. She didn't feel weak anymore. And she had achieved the victory she longed for as a calf.
