SEIKILO Ancient World Music Premieres Jul 19, 2026 What did the world of Homer's Odyssey sound like? For nearly 3,000 years, Homer's Odyssey has inspired readers, artists, musicians, and storytellers around the world. Today, as audiences rediscover the epic through Christopher Nolan's cinematic adaptation, we wanted to explore another dimension of the story: its music. The Traveller's Lyre is a short cinematic journey inspired by the world of Homer's Odyssey, experienced through one of its most iconic instruments: the ancient Greek lyre. Filmed using a probe lens, the ancient lyre becomes an immense landscape of wood, strings, light, and shadow. As the camera journeys through her hidden architecture, it follows the emotional path of Odysseus: departure, wandering, temptation, danger, descent into darkness, longing for home, and finally, return. Rather than retelling the Odyssey, this film invites you to experience its atmosphere through sound, voice, and one of the oldest musical traditions of the ancient Greek world. This project embraces a practical approach to filmmaking. Rather than relying on CGI, every landscape you see is real. The imagery was created almost entirely in camera by exploring a handcrafted lyre with a probe lens, allowing light, wood, craftsmanship, and movement to become the visual effects themselves. The instrument featured is the Traveller's Lyre (Lyre of Odysseus), handcrafted in Greece by LUTHIEROS, inspired by archaeological evidence, historical sources, and the musical culture of ancient Greece.
This channel has some of the most beautiful lyre music. I'm looking forward to this film. If you want to see/hear more of their music here's the direct link to their channel: https://www.youtube.com/@SEIKILO
