It has come to my attention that some of you have never seen what I firmly believe to be the greatest music video of all time: Bonnie Tylerâs Total Eclipse of the Heart. It is the perfect marriage of a galactically bombastic power ballad and a writhing mass of 1980s video clichĂŠs, thrown into the path of a wind machine and blasted down a moodily lit corridor into the realm of legend.
In case youâre wondering what the heck they were thinking of when they made it, I remember Bonnie once explaining on TV that itâs about the dreams of a headmasterâs daughter, hence all the boys in (and out of) uniform. In retrospect, the whole shebang is quite fascinatingly female gaze-y, and Iâm pretty sure it was a major formative influence on my pubescent imagination.
And yes, there is also a very amusing literal version, but for my money, the original is definitely the most hilariousâŚ
A sad and deeply fond farewell to Bonnie Tyler (1951â2026). May somersaulting ninja schoolboys sing you to your rest.
On Saturday I said to my partner, as I have said for months, "A ten thousand dollar a year raise would solve so many of my problems."
As of this morning I was reluctantly looking for jobs because I love my job and don't want to leave it, but see: $10k raise problem solver.
As of noon today this was no longer an issue, because my boss called me with the news that I was getting a $10K merit raise.
I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. This is roughly $200 extra per paycheck. Enough to pay off debt faster, rebuild my savings, and spend a weekend a month in Milwaukee getting obscenely laid. The sex I'm going to have on $200 extra per paycheck. You can't even.
May all of you get the $10K raise your soul has yearned for. And whatever level of sex you can be satisfied with for $200.
hey bestie i think ur post might be charmed 'cause you aren't gonna fuckin believe what happened today
a lot of writing is sort of watching the film in your head like oh sorry canât write the chapter yet i have to repeat hallucinate the dialogue first

My toxic fandom take is that I think that it's awful how much we can talk to creators and get answers from them word of god style. We should be out here in a godless place rooting for scraps of lore in the media like truffle pigs out in the fields
he fixed a bunch of potholes recently and all my gay neighbors won't stop posting shit like this
You forgot the other two.
If you're writing anything involving cons, scams, heists, or morally questionable characters who are very good at lying, here are some free resources I've been using for research. Saving you the "why is this in my search history" anxiety.
1. The FBI's Famous Cases & Criminals archive (fbi.gov/history/famous-cases) has detailed breakdowns of real fraud cases, Ponzi schemes, and confidence operations. The language they use is clinical and precise, which is perfect for getting the procedural details right.
2. The FTC Consumer Sentinel Network publishes annual reports on the most common fraud tactics in the US. Great for understanding how modern scams actually work and what makes people fall for them.
3. The Smithsonian's American Art Museum has a free digital collection of forgery case studies. If your character forges documents or art, this is gold.
4. Court Listener (courtlistener.com) is a free legal database where you can read actual court transcripts from fraud trials. Want to know how a real con artist talks under oath? This is where you find out.
5. The Internet Archive's collection of old newspaper crime sections. Search for "confidence man" or "swindle" in papers from the 1920s through 1960s and you'll find incredible real stories that would feel too dramatic for fiction.
Bonus: The Psychology of Fraud section on the Association for Psychological Science website has accessible articles about why people trust, how deception works cognitively, and what makes someone a convincing liar. Essential reading if you want your con artist characters to feel psychologically real.
Reblog to save for later. Your WIP will thank you.
re-watching the original trilogy is great because you really get a sense for how weird luke skywalker is, just how quickly he becomes that weird AND how quickly he commits to it. Like he's honestly pretty chill in a new hope, but the absolute INSTANT he figures out he can move shit with his mind he goes full send on the cryptic off-putting bullshit. Walking around in full black robes, speaking in riddles, aura farming and backflipping whenever physically possible. He's clearly annoyed when he first meets yoda in empire, but he dismisses that pretty quickly in favour of ALSO becoming an over-dramatic space wizard. The combination of his two teachers being yoda and obi-wan kenobi and him being the son of anakin and padme creates the single most intense and fundamentally kind force sensitive perfectly embodying the heart of the jedi order whilst also serving egregious amounts of cunt and being bizarre to be around. He would have THRIVED as a jedi master during the high republic. he would have been every padawan's favourite and every other master's worst nightmare
i donât need to say it

"We know it looks like a butt plug, just drink the water, it's hot outside"
Seriously though he's right, stay hydrated
So, what you're saying is, under no circumstances should we be reposting the above image as much as humanly possible?
Well, we should certainly make sure that everyone knows about this image, or how will they know not to post it? It's not like "That image of Musk looking like a Nazi" would narrow it down.
i watched the pizza in the oven. i am now dough and cheese
forever thinking about that girl at my uni orientation who, after being told to pour out her water bottle before entering an event, looked at me and said "they tell us to stay hydrated and then make us pour out our water, this is like totally kafkaesque" and then poured out what was very obviously an entire water bottle full of whiskey. hope she's doing well.
sorry to put yâall on blast but. this needs to be seen. This is too fucking funny.
DISCO DRACULA (1982). From German horror series, John Sinclair.

The way that we learn about Helen Keller in school is an absolute outrage. We read âThe Miracle Workerâ- the miracle worker referring to her teacher; sheâs not even the title character in her own story. The narrative about disabled people that we are comfortable with follows this format- âovercomingâ disability. Disabled people as children. Helen Keller as an adult, though? She was a radical socialist, a fierce disability advocate, and a suffragette. Thereâs no reason she should not be considered a feminist icon, btw, and the fact that she isnât is pure ableism- while other white feminists of that time were blatent racists, she was speaking out against Woodrew Wilson because of his vehement racism. She supported womanâs suffrage and birth control. She was an anti-war speaker. She was an initial donor to the NAACP. She spoke out about the causes of blindness- often disease caused by poverty and poor working conditions. She was so brave and outspoken that the FBI had a file on her because of all the trouble she caused.
Yet when we talk about her, itâs either the boring, inspiration porn story of her as a child and her heroic teacher, or as the punchline of ableist, misogynistic jokes. Itâs not just offensive, itâs downright disgusting.
the reason the story stops once hellen keller learns to talk is no one wanted to listen to what she had to say
howâs that for a fucking punchline
Another part of the story that is often conveniently omitted is that Anne Sullivan, the âmiracle workerâ in question, was also a visually impaired woman (and abolitionist) who faced her own struggles finding accessible education. That was why she was able to teach Helen Keller and connect her with resources that would allow her to flourish in academia. When Helen Keller was railing against poverty-induced diseases that caused blindness, she was talking about things like trachoma which was what had caused her friendâs vision loss.
The fact that Sullivan is often portrayed as able-bodied in retellings of their story is indicative of the narrative that is most comfortable for an ableist society: that accessibility and equality are gifts bestowed upon the disabled by able-bodied heroes. Disabled children are never taught that they have the power to lift each other up, and thatâs a crying shame.
(The OTHER thing that we never learn about Helen Keller is that before she ever met Anne Sullivan, Martha Washington, the daughter of the familyâs cook, worked on communicating with her, and Helen used about 60 different signs that Martha understood. This early communication exposure was crucial to her language development and without it, it would have been exponentially harder for her when Anne Sullivan arrived.)
This is amazing, and I'm embarrassed to admit something I never considered.
The public restroom is almost inarguably THE WORST possible place to ever have to 'feel your way'!
