Zu is the ancient language of the Zu Folk in FEZ, a perfect game by Phil Fish.
I've always wanted to design typefaces, but the idea of creating something wholly my own has been a hurdle I haven't made it over yet... so, why not start by making fonts out of fake nerd alphabets to at least learn Glyph?
And that is how my first font was created! It's from the game FEZ and the people who wrote it were called the Zu Folk. So, it's titled "Zu Regular" and "Zu-90 Regular." In game, the language is read from top-to-bottom, right-to-left. Thus, typing it out can be a pain if you normally write left-to-right.
Zu-90 is therefore turned -90degrees so that you can type it out as you would normally write, then you can turn the page 90degrees to have it read just like it would in-game!
It's my first stab at a font, and it's a fairly simple one to start with, but feel free to grab it (completely free of charge) and mess around with it. More will happen someday soon and if you have a fictional language you want to see done first, let me know in the comments!
I guess I’m making fonts now…
