yes spending $60 on ebay to add an iPod adapter to my car was worth it! it is so satisfying to plug my 2008 classic into my 2008 prius and see the iPod say "toyota connected!" like fate has brought them together for just this purpose. but. but.
to get the playlist integration feature to work, you have to name some of your playlists "TOYOTA#", replacing the # with a number 1-6 to tell the car which playlist goes with which button on the screen.
and it has to be allcaps, it HAS to be. naming it something like "Toyota4" won't work, apparently. and if the adapter can't find an allcaps TOYOTA playlist for one of the slots, it picks a different playlist alphabetically based on whatever else is on your iPod.
so imagine me, if you will, cruising on the highway headed to a gay museum thing, selecting playlist #4 expecting to get my sweet sweet tunes, and instead being hit in the face with my "1. Destiel" fanmix from fucking 2014.
"hey...what playlist is this?" I said during the first few songs, struggling to remember, and then, "oh jesus fuck," when it hit the Angel With a Shotgun jumpscare.
but hey! at least it reminded me how much I love the song "One" by Dani Shay
