Men do not want women to speak about our experiences with sexual harrasment. At least, not unless its palatable for them. They don't want women to address these terrible incidents unless we do not challenge them whatsoever. They want themselves completely removed from the idea they could benefit from any social force. They can not imagine letting themselves be uncomfortable and holding themselves to standards. They don't want to question themselves. They dont want to question other men.

Deng radicalized and expanded the tradition of using markets for developing productive forces and accepting foreign investment and technology from the capitalist world certainly, but he didn’t even create it. Lenin did with the NEP. And Mao applied it both in the Yan’an Soviet prior to 1949 and the subsequent PRC.

You can’t build a socialist country by chasing after an autarch development strategy delinked from the global economy. China certainly couldn’t do so after 1992 when the Soviet Union was gone. They were gonna have to dance with the wolves to some degree.

There is Deng Xiaoping Theory, but when westerners talk about it they don’t know about ‘seeking truth from facts’, ‘liberating thought’, or ‘liberating the productive forces’.

I’m just so sick and tired of this simplistic betrayal narrative. Maybe you could justify being ignorant about it 20 years ago in the mid 2000s. But not now. Not after poverty alleviation and China’s extraordinary economic and social progress.
