Disappointing behaviour from Singaporean celebrity Jade Rasif in regards to the murder of a Morrocan man by a French socialite for stealing her purse.
I had thought she was fairly progressive, but I really shouldn't be disappointed that a wealthy influencer would side with the socialite. But I do find it ironic that Rasif would say this given her own father is a thief as well, a lawyer who stole millions of dollars from his clients. By her logic, it's okay for pple to murder her father as well.
There's also this utter lack of understanding as to how homelessness works from Singaporeans, esp in regards to how it can manifest in migrants and their families. Becos you literally have Singaporeans chiming into the comments claiming how this Morrocan man can be homeless when he has family members pressing charges against his murderer.
Like, yall... yall don't think entire families can be homeless... together?? Yall don't think that this entire Moroccan family is poor and homeless becos they can't find work due to their migrant status? (Info on the murder victim is pretty sparse, so I'm working with possibilities based on what I know about refugees in Western Europe.)

So, Olivia Cooke recently did this interview where she was describing a prank gone wrong during a sex scene she did with Fabien Frankel. Basically, in the scene, Criston Cole had to perform cunnilingus on Alicent and so, Olivia had to wear modesty garments around her pubic area. She asked the costuming department to add fake flaming red hair onto her garment as a prank but when Fabien had to perform, he actually thought that he saw Olivia's actual pubic hair and was so shocked that he ran away from her.
And so, you get the comments section talking about how Fabien is immature for not being able to handle female pubic hair. While I do think that society needs to talk about how women's pubic hair gets shamed under patriarchal beauty standards and needs to be normalised, we also need to remember that Fabien is Olivia's co-worker and not everybody wants to see their colleagues' pubic hair or be physically close to their colleagues' private parts no matter where they are on the gender spectrum. I work an office job and I personally don't like having co-workers touch my shoulders without permission.
I also do think the comments section is proof that even post me-too, we as a society still don't think that men have sexual and nudity boundaries, that these boundaries aren't taken seriously and that men can also be violated as well when these boundaries get crossed. No one is thinking of how scary it might have been for Fabien to think that he had gotten flashed by his colleague. It's like if a male actor played a prank on his female co-worker by wearing a realistic-looking dildo during a sex scene, and she got scared after thinking she saw his actual penis.
I hope I don't ever have to hear "racism is an American thing" and "there's less racism in Europe" ever again π the fact that it wasn't enough that people just had regular experiences with racism to be believable, it took seeing literal white supremacist riots?? About more than halfway through Khadija Mbowe's video on Euphoria. I'm glad that they are back, but I do think that with their Euphoria video, they are giving Sam Levinson wayyyy too much grace and benefit of doubt. That said, it is a part 1 so their opinion may change in part 2. Who knows π€·π»ββοΈ
I think my problem with their video is that they spend way too much time refuting criticism about Sam Levinson from more reactive viewers, than actually engaging with the way Levinson has depicted sex work and whether or not the storyplot is a good progression from seasons 1 and 2.
Like, I get if Sam Levinson wanted to talk about sex work and what not, was it necessary to have most of the main female characters be directly involved in it or adjacent to it (Rue managing Alamo's strip club, Cassie doing OnlyFans, Maddy being a Madame, Jules being a sugar baby)? Does it even make sense for these characters to be involved in the industry when they grow up?
