hi all, i hate to come here out of the ether to immediately ask for money, but my cat’s stools are blood and her anal area is also bloodied/swollen. i had to unexpectedly pay for my own health insurance and prescriptions out of pocket, and i unfortunately don’t get paid until 7/10 and pet insurance doesn’t kick in til 7/9 and i want to take her in asap. i called the vet urgent care near me and the bill for just the exam is $150, but i’m adding on $150 for other fees just in case.

hi, this is a big ask right now, especially since i have been unable to post much in awhile. i'm merricat (aka mer/merri) and i do stuff on tumblr sometimes like gifs and graphics over on @vanpelts and @vanpeltgfx, as well as private rp blogs. i'm from west coast canada, so you may know me as one of those Canada Guys in the rpc.
basic explanation:
i am in a tough spot right now. my mom and i are dealing with a guy in our home (my father, apparently) who has been leeching off us for years, and been both emotionally and physically abusive to us. we are trying to work on getting him out of our household. we live in one of the most expensive areas of the country, not by choice, and have very few family members in immediate proximity to us. he doesn't have a steady job and my mom is the only with a semi-fixed income because i have to work freelance from home due to health issues (agoraphobia, autism, adhd, and yet to be identified chronic pain). my mom is suffering burnout that she tries to hide a lot, but is overworked and underpaid, recently lost a huge amount of hours due to budget cuts. i wouldn't normally ask for anything without providing something in exchange, but our internet has been cut off since my dad did not pay the bill and asked my mom to cover it this month. she does not want me to contribute so i have not asked her how much we are short, but any amount will help us a lot.
i normally do some graphic commissions for roleplay blogs (@vanpeltgfx is where i share things) and a few freelance jobs, but it's not doable right now since i had to take a health break and cool off. i do not want to overwork, i do not want my mom to stress when it's been such a tough thing already. i am doing whatever i can to find temporary assistance, but in the meantime, would really appreciate some help wherever.

i know i rarely reblog, much less post on here. i don't follow anyone because i am using a sideblog for convenience, attached to a private writing blog that i just have to keep a clean dash for 😔 and i rarely have the opportunity to look in the tags since i don't really have an immediate need to prioritize. but i always have some resources i save for future use. i keep some in the drafts to queue later if i do think i can handle being active anyways, so i might as well put whatever i can think of up here.
i am admittedly careful on tumblr/discord/socials in all areas, but i really do like knowing the reason i don't always feel the need to post is because other people have already done things that are great for this. if you ever wonder like hey mer, this seems like a job for you to do that makes sense. oh it might be and i will if you don't see anyone else going for it (i can take suggestions and will ask when i haven't gotten anything planned yet), the reason i haven't is often because i assume others must have done excellent ones already. whenever that does happen and i can't do it myself, i will point friends to other blogs if i can remember.

it's a zip file. it is free. there is stuff in there you can use however you want. here is what you will get:
four graphic templates (psd files) that i made a while ago, never posted because i felt that i can do better. but that doesn't mean they aren't great and usable; i tried to organize them neatly for ease of use too. i will answer questions if i have time, but encourage you to ask anyone who has the basic knowledge of photoshop how to navigate them until i can! let them know they are helpful for even considering, thank them for me as well. the fonts names are also included if i was able to remember them.
two displacement maps (psd files) that i like to use for a lot of things and would be great for texturing fonts; can also be used for overlay textures. i can almost guarantee they are not ones i made myself but were likely edited from a source i cannot currently find. if that is the case, it was already free and i don't want to wake credit for that anyways! i just use them a lot as displacement maps in my personal work. thought they were useful and will find out where to credit the site that has them for free already.
seventeen textures* (i believe they are all png files, but have not had time to check! if they aren't, it is a jpeg) that you can do whatever you want with. overlays, backgrounds, displacement maps would be effective. different colours that you can adjust and i recommend using these to learn what you actually like for yourself.
there's some extra information below that i think is far less crucial, but gives a bit of background for now because i am unable to answer questions as immediately as i want to. but credit @vanpeltgfx, like/reblog if you use or think others might want them. doesn't matter what you do here! love you anyways.
hi! messy post* but i think that is okay as long as we have what we need to know here! i have actually had these for a while, some were meant for personal use, others meant to be templates, but really just didn't suit my standards at the time. i have accepted this and that is okay, because someone will still find a use if they have that available. it's a thank you anyways, especially to people here who wanted to help with an ongoing emergency fund for me. that is how i know i should put stuff up for free whenever i can and don't have to stress about my own standards if they are usable for others. everything can be worth sharing if someone just has used the free downloads.
if you download this and find a use, please let me know. they are not perfect, but can be improved with a different set of eyes to just tell me what they found helpful or less helpful. i kept it flexible whenever possible and can always appreciate how people are just creative anyways.
* fun fact: most of these are close up images of clothing textures! i do not remember the specifics, but i was inspired by a lot of haute couture brands that have a lot of interesting shapes. will definitely make more of these anyways. they are all manipulated and coloured differently than the original images, but have their own uniqueness that i can appreciate and hope to use for myself. some may actually be quite large (1000px if i was able to) for tumblr, but i think that is useful so you can crop what you like. let me know how you use them because i haven't really found my preferred use for them yet. hopefully they are versatile and useful for anything.
literally just my only way of thanking anyone atm. credit is to @vanpeltgfx on tumblr, and i hope you know that is still and always will be important for creators. i encourage feedback and tags if you actually feel like sharing anything, because i can learn from you and find satisfaction in whatever people want to be creative with.
for anyone who uses rp resources from people who make them - thank you! even if you don't have the chance to actually say it to them, i know everyone enjoys being appreciated. i don't always get downloads for things that i expect might be popular, but really i don't mind as long as i know they are being appreciated through reblogs/likes. and i truly never keep up with anything unless there is a notification, so it is good to be reminded! tag creators (including me) in your own posts whenever possible, not only to credit those who worked on it, but i am pretty sure most people enjoy seeing the results of that. it is partially yours, if you used another person's template. i hope you see that as a group effort and it really is a beautiful thing to remember constantly.
for other creators, please be vocal about your situations if you need to. it helps to actually do so, even just for maintaining sanity and reassurance, it is not necessary to accept anything but i hope you can. i don't have a ton of followers, but will always reblog whatever i can if you send it to me directly. the only reason i don't do this more, even for other resources, is just because i am not always able to keep up with the tags or people i would follow! (this is a sideblog, i am obligated to keep it a clean dash. but when i find things i like or can recognize as useful, i would love to. you can even tag my url, since i would like to start tracking that tag. either way, people will appreciate the situations you may be in and there is nothing wrong with sharing (please be careful and only avoid oversharing to protect yourself).
i could literally go on and on because i have felt better about my life than i have for a long time. arguably the entirety? and it is mostly just being reminded that people who can and want to, absolutely will if they know you need and deserve it. prove it to yourself that you deserve, prove it to them that they aren't misplacing their hopes. it literally doesn't matter. as a person who is genuine danger and learning the best way to protect themselves, i won't ever say that lightly. protect what it is yours! thank yourself for being alive and doing whatever works right now.

Howdy, I know I made a longer post about this but I don’t want to dig it up to reblog. I’m currently on medical leave and working when I can but I’ve still gotten behind on my car payment. As of this month I am about $750 behind. I have applied for a small personal loan to get caught up but there’s no guarantee I’m approved and I have to wait a couple days before I find out. ANYWHO… I do commissions. It would really help me out to get more freelance work to help pad my bank account and prevent my car from being repossessed. Anything helps!
if i may actually add to this, because i think it does matter especially after a recent update of mine. i know people should and can and will help if it is in their ability and i believe that is possible for @alleyspat too! who is literally someone i only started having convos with a day before i needed to hear any reassurance but actually made a huge impact by just appreciating/understanding a situation that is easy to empathize with and there is never any shame.

literally awake no matter what, but i guess now is a good time to mention??? i have literally stopped myself from procrastinating??? yes it is possible when you just let things go and accept that ever if you hate something, at least one person on this website will enjoy it and be grateful??? yeah that's all that should matter. i am secure enough to admit i would redo a lot of graphics that people (whose opinions i trust) still liked for themselves. i totally believe that we should value anything for that, even if we should strive for what makes us satisfied too. but really not as important as the happiness of someone else, if you actually value or trust them.
this is my way of saying that you're probably getting a resource drop as soon as i reach the library today. most are incomplete templates and a texture pack that i made and never finished but all are all free and usable. if you wanna pay for them, i will accept and appreciate that too! but there is never a reason not to give something out for free even if it not my proudest and what i know i could genuinely improve. this is what we have for now and can update later too.
also these are totally accessible to anyone? if i cannot answer a question immediately (i probably won't have time to do it as soon as i want, but will as soon as i have the time) there is almost always someone available who can and knows how to do what you need. feel free to ask anyone you know who has photoshop knowledge to help, including other creators! link them to my posts if you need to provide context/info! if they can and want to, they will do that for you on my behalf. and please be respectful to them anyways, thank them for me since i can't do it myself! pay them if you don't want to pay me and you know they actually need it!
