I think the bare minimum is what was done with Xeno. He got more than one moment to at least dialogue with others about his views and then was explicitly "explained" why he was a trusty part of them (this was nowhere close to perfect as most of the reasoning for this is "it has been long enough" but at least is something and then he didn’t really changed completely as a person.

In the other side I can't like Tsukasa after what was done with him after the Stone Wars. His regret from betraying his promise with Senku feels genuine, but everything else about his change after his revival feels nonsensical as it goes against everything he believed (aside from the science advance part, but that’s not what im talking about) and in minor(er) characters like Hyoga, Moz and Yō who are arguably eviler this treatment is worse because they don’t play a role so big in the story.

And probably with Yō it could be excused as he doesn’t really need to be redeemed or punished during the story, as long as he can colaborate with the things they are doing it's fine. But then he is shown being invited to the wedding, and it's confirmed as friends with Ryusui, and appears in that very pretty finish event art along with the main cast.

this final note about luna from the end of the manga has always bothered me but tbh it's also really indicative of how she's treated in the story in general. i think out of all the female characters in dr stone luna definitely gets the worst treatment

she gets to be helpful for a little bit when senku is shot (and even then, most of it is offscreen), but afterwards she's taken along with the rest of the main cast for basically no reason and contributes absolutely nothing for the rest of the series. i think she is honestly also made fun of a lot in the narriative, there are jokes made about her intelligence, about her being overly conscious of her weight, about her attraction to senku... almost the entirety of her character is always focused around her having a crush on senku and wanting to be with him, and i think in PARTICULAR the way this aspect of her is treated is horrible, senku definitely knew exactly what she meant when she asked him to be her boyfriend and yet he keeps it vague and never even acknowledges her feelings to the point that luna (and the audience) thought that they were dating for a while until CHELSEA??? some random third person that wasn't even there?? has to spell it out to her that they aren't

and then for the rest of the series she's just left to constantly trip over herself trying to find a way to impress him, and then for the final note on her character in the manga still just being about how she's trying to get with senku...!!! not even trying to get with him, like i absolutely hate the phrasing that she hopes senku will "give her the time of day". i actually lied. the real final thing we get on her in the manga is in 4d science at chruri's wedding where she is still listening in with rapt attention whenever senku and romance are mentioned in the same sentence. she doesn't even fucking speak in that scene!!

nikki gets her appearence made fun of here and there, but i still feel like overall the narriative still respects her as a character. luna, i do not feel like the narriative respects her at all. you get what i mean

that's why i really loved this anime-original shot of her in class, this is definitely the most serious we've ever seen her, completely focused on the lecture going on and not even acknowledging this guy who is trying to talk to her this entire time, she's LOCKED IN!! it's a small thing, but much better than nothing, this made me so happy to see!! HELL YEAH !!!

unfortunately after this they DO still include that scene from the final chapter where she's listening in to kohaku and ruri's conversation in hopes of getting a hint on how to get close to senku (or ""a scientist"" in general), but i can't win everything
