Nik entered through the back doors of Pandemonium, hellbent on getting in and out of his club as fast as he could. The last thing he wanted was to be pestered with questions from his employees, mundane things his two managers should have easily been able to take care of if they possessed a single modicum of efficiency. Regardless, it seemed some of the bartenders had started coming up to him with meager problems that definitely did not befall Nikolas Taylor. He preferred to keep his position in the Strix under wraps as much as he could, at least when it regarded the ferocity of the enemy, but he was wondering if some good old fashioned display of his vicious and cruel nature would be advantageous. If anything, perhaps then the grunts would leave him in peace, and maybe even avert their eyes as he walked into a room. He could get used to that. Just like the good old days.
He had forgotten some paperwork in his rush to get home, important blueprints his brother had entrusted him with for an upcoming job and here Nik was succumbing to his exhaustion and forgetting them like he was some lesser man. He had got some food on his way home before cursing loudly and turning around, heading back to work. Which led to him angrily zig-zagging through the crowd to his office. Walking past the VIP section, and down the hallway he opened the door to his personal solitude in this crazy establishment. Lights were on, just like he had left them in his hasty exit, though something else grabbed his attention. A lithe form sitting behind his desk, and tanned, toned legs perched on top of the wood. Valâs familiar face came into view and he paused in the doorway. âDetective Santiago.â He greeted, despite his slight discouragement at her presence in his personal space - without his knowledge - he tried to remain calm, and collected. He had hoped this visit was for pleasure, though, he wouldnât put it past the Detective to run professional errands all times of the night. âTo what do I owe this dubious pleasure?â

It wasnât all that unusual for the detective to often direct her thoughts towards analysing people-it was what she was paid for afterall, a crime was never all about action as much as about psychology and her time was usually spent in trying to see what made the worst kind of criminals tick. A dark place for many, but after years of spending time in it, Val could almost call it a second home or atleast the only dependable one. Rarely did passing strangers capture her interest and so it was with some consternation and a whole lot of curiosity that Valeria found her thoughts straying towards the younger Taylor and having no appropriate label to categorise it, she found herself in a restless end. It was perhaps why on a Saturday evening when most of the world relaxed and rejected all forms of intellectual exercise, she found herself itching to further it. Standing in front of Pandemonium, a coat casually draped over her shoulders, she took a moment to grin at the utter aptness of the title and her intriguing visit the first time she ever laid eyes on this place. She had come in search of her brother but from the moment Nikolas Taylor had spoken, her mind had put on itâs battle gears in preparing and excitement of the sort of puzzle his character presented.Â
Her determined stance now carried her past the noise and chaos, all the way to his office with some badge flashing and when, without preamble she pushed it open, the emptiness stumped her for a mere second before a mischievous smile played upon her lips. It was like encountering a treasure chest and the possibility of limitless discovery made her enter without a single thought to propriety. Her observant eyes had taken in everything from the decor to the book casually laying on the table and moving in, she sat down on his seat, put her legs on his desk and picked it up. âLetters From a Stoicâ, the title read and opening on a random page, her eyes widened slightly to see comments written along the margin. Her interest piqued, she had began reading it and was halfway through two pages when a voice called out to her. Her eyes clashed with the form of the owner of the space she had occupied and it showed neither guilt nor remorse but a good deal of intrigue and mischief. âMr Taylorâ Valeria responded lightly twirling the pen she had picked up and making no move whatsoever to get up from her comfortable position âWhat can I say, boredom and curiosity are often lethal combination but with extraordinary results as I find. But please, feel free to carry on with your work. You do not have to stop on my account.â she waved her hand nonchalantly, her eyes twinkling at her own impertinence before going back to reading the book, her senses now completely alert to his presence and every movement.
