Tommy and Sam were like ships in the night, ever since they were teens they would constantly be passing each other by, always so close and yet so far away. She had been his ‘almost maybe’ throughout most of his teenage years and he knew that he could have loved her if she had ever given him the chance. Maybe he did, for a short while, or maybe he thought he did. Sam certainly didn’t break his heart but she certainly bruised it and it was his first experience of feeling that harsh sting of rejection. Although Sam’s dedication to surfing wasn’t exactly her rejecting Tommy as such, but after he had spent years of offering himself to her to only feel useful whenever she was in town, he had finally decided he couldn’t live like a lost puppy following her around anymore.

Although that didn’t mean he had cut her off entirely. Throughout the years they had both grown up and lived through many things that neither of them particularly wanted to talk about, and while they had taken very different paths in life, Tommy couldn’t help but feel they were still unfinished somehow. “I’ve had to restock my fridge with beer ‘cause of how quickly we’re gettin’ through these.” he teased lightly as he sat down beside Sam again, offering her another cold beer from his apartment. “You mind if I I have a smoke?” she had never minded before, but Tommy could hardly remember the last time they two of them had held a proper conversation so it only felt polite to double check with her again.

Frankie knew that the sex was good and it was the main reason that she allowed herself to go in some fucking stall with Tommy. In the end, she always ended up hating that smirk on his face. Evidently by the roll of her eyes when she stepped out and heard his comment. “Just because this has happened doesn’t mean I won’t think twice about kicking your ass, Tommy.” The brunette quipped over her shoulder.

When she stepped out and found her seat by the bar, she couldn’t help but shake her head as he approached and took a seat by her side. “I hope there’s a magic word stringing along soon.” Her head shook then, folding her arms above her chest while she peered over at him. “I’ll have another round, and one beer for him.” Frankie told the bartender.

“Who says I won’t like that?” he challenged with a knowing smirk. “I love violence in a woman.” Tommy had leaned in closer, his words spoken in a hushed tone but the coarseness of his voice from all the cigarettes he had smoked throughout his life made them sound deep and ragged. His posture snapped back to its usual nonchalant state as he pressed his elbows against the bar. “Thank you Frankie.” he made sure to speak in a sickly sweet tone with a smile that was just as annoying because his second favourite thing to do to Frankie was piss her off.

With one hand on his ice cold beer, his other patted his jacket pockets in search of his packet of cigarettes. “Hey you wanna smoke? Could do with some air.” in other words he was hot as balls after their rendezvous in the toilet stall.

“No, seriously!” Tilly said, enthusiastically holding her phone out at arm’s length to show the photos on the screen as a video on Instagram played silently. “There really is a bakery in Paris that makes penis shaped bread. And not just bread but pastries and eclairs. Imagine having a penis shaped eclair at your bachelorette party? It’s perfect.” There was joyous laughter spilling past her lips as she shared her newfound knowledge. “And to top it all off they’ve been making these for years. How I didn’t hear about this when I was in Paris is beyond me but I have half a mind to march right back over there because I was robbed of the experience.”

To Tommy, Tilly Castillo-Davis would always be the one that got away. In any casual relationship he had possessed, Tommy would always be the one to grow bored (rather quickly, too) and move on. But Tilly had been the one to do that to him and it had thrown him off course and he wasn’t sure which direction he was supposed to go in. Naturally, his ego was bruised and part of him wanted to act as if he had never seen her before but he was stupidly too stubborn to do that and refused to let Tilly get the better of him. “You know, when called me up last night I really didn’t expect to be sat here listenin’ to you tell me about penis cakes.” and boy was he disappointed because the only penis they should have been talking about was his own. Tommy leant back against the bench they were sat on, his arm stretching across and hanging loosely over her shoulders. “Maybe you would’ve gone further in Cupcake Wars if you’d made them a penis cake.” he teased, flashing her a playful smile.
