Btw I calculated it and the church bookstore has around 4,000 to 5,000 books.
The oldest one I've found so far was printed in 1803, but most are from 1920-2010, with a median (out of books logged so far) in the 1970s.
It would take me 262.5 hrs to catalogue it all, which is about 6.5 full time work weeks. I do part time, not full, so it would take me longer than that to finish the catalog, except that I sometimes have helpers so idk. (If someone wants to volunteer for like highschool volunteer credit or something I would be eternally grateful (β Β΄β -β οΉβ -β `β οΌβ ))
I have 153 books cataloged so far.
If you're interested in any of those, or want me to take a look around the bookstore for any others, send an ask or DM here on Tumblr, email us at [email protected], or to explore in person, drop by the church on Saturday or Sunday!
A tab with the in-progress book catalog should be up on our website soon!

Sorry for the hiatus, things have been chaotic.Β
After a brief discussion at the coffee hour the other day, it has been suggested that I resurrect this social media along with perhaps creating some others. Once those are made, Iβll link to them here as well.
I look forward to digging through my brain for content ideas again!
Tomorrow (Tuesday the 7th), at seven pm we will be holding a black lives matter vigil.
To be honest, cutting the banner was a stupid method of trying to silence us. Not only has word spread around the community and gathered people around us, but we're doubling down.
I know many of you can't be there with us, but please feel free to voice your support.

Hello! Since there's a pandemic, we're livestreaming service!
This is Ralph our UU minster.
Are you sad that you can't go to church because group meetings during a pandemic are bad?
Are you curious about Unitarian Universalism or just curious in general?
Nothing to do this morning?

Reminder that we have these every Sunday at 10:30.
This one's on justice with compassion.
Thank you to Thomas M Merolli for being a good and eloquent human ^-^
Honor the wonderful people in Mendon's history by doing the right thing and supporting the oppressed, even if there may be hateful people out there who oppose it. Racism is not strong enough to stop everyone who wants to be better and cause change.

We intend to put a new banner up as soon as possible. Our church is a safe space for EVERYONE no matter their race or anything else. I assume everyone reading this agrees with us on this matter, but if any of you don't: please don't vandalize a statement of support for a group of people who face hate and discrimination. It won't change our minds.
If you want to be a part of this, you can voice your support or donate on our website (https://ucmu.org), or any blm charities. We're sooo thankful for how many people have already. Even if people like those who cut our banner are out there, there are so many wonderful people like all of you. π
Note: We talked to the police, who were polite and helpful. They were very thorough and were there for hours. A number of officers were involved all the way up to the police chief. I'm endlessly thankful that they did not validate fears about calling police in this situation and instead showed so much support. They did not want acts of hate to continue. I wish all police were like that.
Thank you all very much for being so supportive. All of you at this church, and anyone who supports black people, you're great. I'm glad to know that's the majority. Have a nice day. ^-^
Church Livestreams
Hello everyone! We hope you've been enjoying our church service livestreams. I have a couple of things to talk about today:
1. Feedback? We know we need to do better audio + visual tests in advance (there was a looottt of adjusting this time π¬), but what else do you have to say about it? What would you like to see? A particular music piece you'd like to hear? Subject matter you'd like to hear about? Anything? Not all requests will be fulfilled, but we'd like to try our best~ So send us a message/ask, email us at [email protected], or send a carrier pigeon or crow with a message in an undecipherable code to 13 Maple St, Mendon, MA 01756.
2. This blog has been rather inactive lately, and I don't like that. So if you have any suggestions for what you'd like to see on here, or have anything you'd like to ask, please send us an ask or message us!
Thank you!!!

Strawberry Festival!
The Strawberry Festival is on June 8th this year. It starts at 9:00 PM and goes until 3:00 PM.
At the Strawberry Festival there will be lots of booths selling things. There will also be food such as the best strawberry shortcake within a mile of Mendon! This will be your last opportunity to try it until next year!
If you would like a booth to sell things at then please contact us at [email protected]. There is a fee of $25.00 for businesses to have a table or a fee of $10.00 for individuals to have a table. You must bring your own table.
It does not cost money to get into the Strawberry Festival if you are not going to sell things.
If you would like to help us cook things, set up, or un-set up, please email us at [email protected] or sign up during coffee hour at church.
The church's address is 13 Maple St, Mendon, MA 01756, and it is on the front lawn.
Thank you!
Write For The Spires!
The Spires is our church newsletter and we could really use some content! For examples on what kind of things to write, here's the first page of April's edition:
If you didn't want to read the whole thing, which is fair, usually anything related to Unitarian Universalism, our church, mendon and/or uxbridge, or the month the newsletter will be going out in are all good topics. We cannot guarantee that your article(s) will get in, but considering that we don't have a lot usually, there's fair odds it will.
The deadline is Wednesday, May 22nd for the June 2019 edition. Please email any submissions to [email protected].
Thank you! π
