“He’s such a spellco baby,” Poppy cooed at lunch one day, cradling him against her, giving Remus and Tonks a chance to scarf down their sandwiches. “You love being in people’s arms, do you?”
Teddy laughed in respond.
“You don’t think it’ll be a problem?” Tonks asked, mustard dripping down her lip. “Some parenting books say it will cause separation anxiety later on.”
Poppy shook her head, “Babies need to feel secure and comforted. I truly doubt there’s such a thing as too much love.”
Remus’s cringed, stopped himself from looking over at the Gryffindor table. Thoughtlessly taking another bite of his roast beef sandwich.
“I’m worried,” Tonks told the matron. “Supposed to go back to work in a couple of months, and with Remus working, I’m worried about how Teddy will fair.”
“You’ll cross that bridge when it’s time. No use worrying about it now.” She gave Teddy kiss on his forehead before returning him to Remus’s arms. “I have an appointment in a bit but Remus, I told you to see me when you have a chance.”
“Sorry, madam, I’ve been busier than I anticipated.”
Poppy pressed her lips. “Make sure to let your assistants help, that’s what they’re for. Don’t need you getting sick. In the meantime, I’ll send some anti-nausea and alimentation potions to your room.”
“That bad?” He asked, bashfully. “Don’t worry about it, the potions are for the students–”
Tonks kicked his shins in response. Shit. As the pain shot up his legs, he realized that maybe he does need the potions...
“It’s for anyone who needs it. Tonks, dear, make sure he takes it.”
“I’ll try,” Tonks sighed. “I finally got him to start eating veg.”
Poppy shook her head, smiling softly. “You’re a dad now, Remus. You need to set a good example for Teddy.”
“Yeah, I know.” Poppy hugged him before returning to the hospital wing.
Remus looked over at Harry and his friend’s, laughing over something.
