        ❝ the seventies called and they want their jacket back. ❞ his tone is characteristically dry. though sarcasm serves as a crumbling wall that attempts to hold back any trace of vulnerability, ben appears sincere when asking the following: 

        i’m moving out of country on the 29th soooo i’m wrapped up with other things besides tumblr at the moment. i start university a few days after i move and, only naturally, i’ll be busy a few of those days as well. 

        that said, i have some starters in my queue. i haven’t finished my drafts, but i’ll get to them when i have time.

        please feel free to talk to me via kik or skype, though! i’ll be on those much more frequently than tumblr. ( still sporadically, i admit. ) love y’all. i’ll be back, i assure you. i love ben too much to just leave.

        leslie almost didn’t hear mr. wyatt’s voice calling her out, if she was being honest… his voice was almost overpowered by the impeccably loud rendition of the mission impossible theme song that played as she walked. her all black outfit matched the soundtrack perfectly.

sadly, though. the mission truly was impossible. he was there, and he caught her…. red… footed.

pursing her lips, she looked to the floor and casted one of her famous disappointedly angry faces before turning back up at him.

“do you expect me to leave my home forever, mr. wyatt? would you force elmo off of sesame street? WOULD YOU FORCE GILLIGAN OFF OF HIS ISLAND?”

        upon hearing leslie’s words, ben runs his hands through characteristically kempt hair. his head is still shaking, and whether it’s from disbelief is irrelevant.

        ❝ firstly, i’m going to pretend you didn’t just mention sesame street or gilligan’s island. secondly — more importantly — i’m going to hope you’re joking. leslie, you’re not supposed to be here. ❞

        were ben sitting at a desk, his forehead would be resting on a palm. he’s not supposed to be in the building, either, but upon calling mr. spaghetti, grabbing a stack of files regarding the auditing process escaped his otherwise occupied mind. 

        he sees the overworking deputy director and shakes his head.

WHOOMP THERE IT IS! STARTER CALL. 

             ❝ well, i’m from new york, and the city life wore me down after a while. i’m looking for a fresh start, and perhaps a peaceful sleep, ne? as for my intentions, i am happy to get involved and lend my talents where they are needed. ❞ as cordial as she was, hotaru didn’t really want to start as an intern. she’s thirty, for goodness sakes! still, there was a need for pawnee’s youth to be involved in something, to channel their energy into something productive.  ❝ granted, there’s not a department for the children now, but parks and recreation are considered a wider branch where i’m from. children’s after school programs were always handled by parks and recreation. is that not the case here? ❞

       ms. takenaka’s verve is not unfamiliar in a setting such as pawnee’s parks and recreation department, but ben does not let it fool him. he allows a short-lived chuckle to escape his otherwise un-smiling lips, and his eyes cast immediately to the files neatly stacked atop his desk.

       ❝ evidently, you have not yet met the deputy director. uh— she— takes care of the majority of the work here, you could say. i could get you in touch with her? i deal with the fiscal aspects… or, un-child-friendly aspects of the job here. hah. ❞

       his laugh is dry and it’s clear within a moment that even he did not find his joke funny.
