Thoughts for Music Appetite

Each day, the station gets a little closer to the vision I’ve been carrying around for years. Right now, my assistant Jo, keeps the music flowing around the clock, holding the space while I continue expanding the library and creating events. It is my goal to add more tracks daily, slowly shaping a catalog that feels eclectic, human, and full of soul.

I’m most excited about what comes next... the tools that make a radio station feel alive. Piece by piece, the studio is turning into a true radio space, not just a playlist, but a place where stories, music, and community meet. It’s a slow burn, but every day adds something new, and I’m enjoying the process.

So while I am busy building, I hope you enjoy the stations song of the month; 1967's “The Hunter Gets Captured by the Game”, recorded by the Marvelettes. Running an internet radio station in today's environment is one of those rare creative ventures where the old magic of radio meets the new freedom of the digital world. And to plan a return to the airwaves this spring would be a most surreal moment. Yes I had a brief period with destiny a few years ago. I have always been a music historian and an advocate for today's emerging independent artists.

Am looking forward to the total creative freedom i.e. not being boxed in by corporate playlists and format clocks. Perhaps the closest thing to being a curator, historian, and filmmaker all at once.

I give a nod to those who champion artists and genres that deserve a spotlight but rarely get one... I'm talking about here and other active platforms. Radio is evolving, not dying. People still crave human curation... maybe more than ever in this algorithm era.

A music track for the moment belongs to Khruangbin with “People Everywhere (Still Alive)” beecauzze... the title speaks for itself. It's a global groove that feels like a reminder of shared humanity. A celebration of resilience and human spirit, and finally a reminder that despite everything, people keep going.

Khruangbin’s name means “airplane” in Thai, and their early sound was heavily inspired by 1960s funk.

We are creatures of pattern.

Habits, routines, emotional loops… all of it forms a kind of internal rhythm. It’s why songs, rituals, and traditions feel so powerful; they mirror the patterns inside us.

Perhaps we learn who we are by watching others, mirroring them, and then slowly carving out our own identity. We rarely transform when everything is easy; the fact is... we evolve when something pushes us to rethink ourselves. Tension is where art, music, and meaning live.

My song of the moment is “Imperial Twist”... the chaos of yesterday, and the way music becomes a lifeline when the world is burning. There is something about the strange beauty of learning rock ’n’ roll in the shadow of conflict.

Like a quiet vow spoken under a wide sky. There are times when I feel like naming a kind of shelter that isn’t tied to weather, circumstance, or mood, but to intention. A place we can all choose to hold open, even when the world tilts.

There are so many songs to choose from for this moment... one of them that comes to mind is “Holocene” from indie folk band Bon Iver. This song hits me in a place where humility and transcendence meet. Frontman Justin Vernon has said the title refers to a Portland bar where he had a “dark night of the soul.”

The song sits in that paradox of "You’re special and not special at the same time." That duality is something almost everyone recognizes but rarely articulates.

The music video was filmed in Iceland with a Red Camera. The video should serve as proof that the art of the music video is not dead.

So this may come off as a silly Q. But in all fairness, it is a conversation that is well worth a few minutes of time... yours, mine, and even the fool on the hill.

Why is it important to be kind? After hearing such a question, I gathered my thoughts and with a cool grin, I replied... Because we walk past hundreds of people every day, and none of them wear signs that say, "I'm grieving," "I'm exhausted," or "I'm barely holding it together." But they are everywhere. Kindness might be the only softness they receive today.

Kindness isn’t weakness... it’s wisdom. It’s the hush between heartbeats, the balm in a world that bruises too easily. We don’t need to know someone’s story to soften their day. We just need to show up with grace.

Daffo is the musical moniker of Gabi Gamberg with a debut album titled 'Where the Earth Bends'... a sonic diary of discomfort, beauty, and resilience. A track that stands out is “Sideways,” due to its emotional honesty and lyrical precision. Gamberg describes it as a song about keeping secrets and the misguided belief that hiding pain protects others.

The repeated refrain “I can’t say what I mean / So I let it out sideways”, is both a lament and a revelation. It’s about the inability to speak plainly, and the sideways routes we take to express what’s too raw to say aloud. It’s indie rock with a pulse of folk vulnerability and power-pop urgency.

It’s a reflection of a period in my life that’s been both tragic and transformative...the loss of my father, the birth of a new me. Not a reinvention...an emergence. Common Saints is the solo project of London-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Charlie J. Perry.

The EP is a 15-minute journey through late-60s and 70s-inspired rock, with “Equinox” standing out as a soul-stirring, psychedelic centerpiece. But it’s a skill that can be cultivated, through active listening, curiosity, and self-care. Empathy doesn’t mean agreeing, fixing, or pitying. It means being present with someone’s experience. That’s why it’s not just a soft skill...it’s a radical act of connection.

My destiny tells me to keep pedaling.
