hiii! welcome to my little blog :] my name is Aurora or Rori for short. This is my main blog as im returning to tumblr as an adult and wanted a fresh slate! my pronouns are she/they and i am 18. I have C-PTSD and am chronically ill as well as being queer, which may occasionally be relevant to my blog

this blog doesnt have any particular goal or theme, just to post about my interests and hopefully meet people with similar interests! Im an artist but typically dont post my art on tumblr, you can check out my pinterest: @eggsareveryswag and my insta: @lady.bug.stuff

some little things about me, i love (folklore accurate) unicorns 🦄 and ladybugs! 🐞 theyre very important to me and i love when my friends show me ladybugs and unicorns that remind them of me :] my favorite colors are pink💗 and green🌿

some other things of note i am a witch of about 7ish years, and an Aphrodite devotee of 5. I also work with Selene, Hekate, Psyche and Lilith. I also feel a lot of reverence for Virgin de Guadalupe as i grew up around folk catholicism. My current spiritual practice is centered around ancient religions, the spirituality of women throughout history, goddess worship, and earth based practice. Im also very interested in Dianic based practices (though i am not and dont plan to be wiccan, i just love woman centered witchcraft) and am also very interested in gnostic gospels and specifically Mary Magdalene. My practice is very eclectic but if i had to describe my practice id say Id call myself an art witch, a green witch, and a divination witch. Im a tarot nerd i love divination of many forms but cards are my #1, i also love charm reading and i ching!

im also a huge art history nerd so there will be plenty of that aswell, My favorite place to be is the art museum. I am very passionate about humanities, I love learning about history, culture, religion, archeology, anthropology, ancient people, etc. heres a photo of my favorite sculpture in the san antonio museum of art!

im so with you, i also believe gender isnt real except for as political identity (like im a woman so i face the discrimination of a woman) but id like to add some other perspective if its ok. like for me im a childhood sex trafficking survivor and a female focused practice is really healing for me to reclaim my body and identity, and to center feminine deities in my practice rather than masculine ones. I also think its important to point out its something women typically do because our deities and religions have been choked out by patriarchal systems. ive also known trans people who found a lot of comfort in finding some kind of divinity in the way they identify/present. i love ur blog just wanted to add my 2 cents. you can absolutely see your identity and/or body as being divine without being gender essentialist, its your practice and it should bring you comfort. you can incorporate your identity into your personal practice without being a terf.

Centering femininity and gender is one thing, including celebrating your own identity and gender. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with any of that, though I may personally not adhere to some beliefs. However, that’s not what my above post is referring to.

“The divine feminine” and “the divine masculine” are concepts related to a lot of new age-y practices. They posit this idea that there’s some big cohesive identifiable femininity and masculinity that’s universal and external beyond humanity and shows up within people. There’s no way to do that without flattening cultures and time, or making weird calls about femininity or masculinity always having to be a certain way. It’s not just about celebrating and elevating your gender or adhering to a goddess-oriented practice, though those may be common aspects people reference when they talk about these concepts. Though there is another issue with TDF/TDM ideology in that it does flatten out various different spiritualities and religions including various different spirits/deities/entities surrounding some big nebulous idea of femininity or masculinity, often divorced from the actual historical, cultural and religious contexts of those figures. Like many new age practices, it flattens out historical and current practices and hollows them out, and then it sells them under an often very white model of gender that’s applied universally and said to be some sort of universal constant. When you start making claims like that, the gender essentialism and ahistoricism come crashing down real fast, as does cultural erasure and often Eurocentric and white supremacist models of gender.

I just thought I'd tack that on to your statement because i engage in female centered spirituality and everyone in those communities are terfs and im trying to make space for those of us that are not terfs lol. i agree with everything you said here 100% thank you for your time :]

Folk Christians and Christian witches I think we need to start being louder because the amount of baby Christians, or even born-and-breed Christians, that don’t know we are an option is insane.

Talking about how I view faith has made so many peoples eyes light up it’s insane. Like yes you can get weird with religion it’s allowed.

Actually I’m going to say something even more controversial. People with weak sauce feminism hold onto your socks.

You can in fact choose whatever you wear because of men and still be feminist. One of the most badass people I know wears a full khimar and specifically does it 1. Cause she is religious, but 2. Because she says that she feels empowered because men are not owed the right to look at her body.

And you know what… she is right. Yes her choice in outfit is based on men but when you live in a patriarchal society NEWS FLASH your decision will have to consider the patriarchy in some way. Because at the end of the day misogynistic men in power will view women as less than whether they cover up or not. So the real choice is wearing whatever you think will make these men most uncomfortable and give you the best ability to fight against the patriarchy. HOWEVER that looks like to you.

one of my closest friends and mentors is my art teacher from highschool, and she talked to me a lot about how the older she gets the more shes drawn to shapeless clothes. She wore lots of loose fitting fabrics and even modified her clothes to be that way. she said she was tired of men looking at her and she wanted then to be completely unable to see her body at all. i dont see that as anything but powerful personally

you pet your dog and the atoms that are you brush up against the atoms that are him, and the electrons that are you press into the electrons that are him, and both of them change their movement.

electrons of course are not really particles and do not really move.

you pet your dog and the electron-orbitals of your skin overlap with the electron-orbitals of his fur, and both are changed by the contact. you are not made of little motes floating alone in a void. you are a single unfathomable chord formed of a trillion vibrations, and so is he. and the note you play is changing at every moment by what you touch and how you breathe, and so is his. and atoms do not really have edges, and to touch is to interact, and when you put your hand on your dog the universe does not know that you are separate. the song expands to hold you both.
