TUMBLR NATION, I'M BACK WITH A PART 2 TO THIS, THIS TIME WITH:
Elias is the younger brother of Robert Lanyon by ~2 years.
Elias was born quite odd, with green eyes and bright blond hair, which even in magical England wasn't accepted with open arms. Lanyon Sr and his wife saw Elias as flawed, leading Lanyon Sr to hold some disdain towards him. Mrs Lanyon didn't want another child in the first place, more so forced too because of her hysteria. She somewhat believes her unwillingness is what caused Elias's flaws.
Growing up, Elias had quite an attachment to Robert, who Lanyon Sr always favoured because of how Elias looked and acted. Elias was commonly messy, hyper, and overly emotional, leading to him getting punished over his playful outbursts or emotional breakdowns. Of course these punishments only seemed to do so much, as Elias would be back at it quite quickly. Elias tried to behave better sometimes, yearning for his father's approval, but it never seemed to work very well, as he still always favoured Robert and scolded Elias.
Elias got bullied quite frequently by other kids, usually other higher society kids finding his looks or actions weird or too messy. This quite heavily reinforced Elias's connection with his brother, as Robert was the only person he really had. He'd run to Robert for just about anything, whether to play, talk, seek approval, or when he was feeling lonely and needed comfort. Of course, even Robert could only handle so much of Elias, finding him annoying at times, especially when swamped with lessons from his father.
Lanyon found Elias's yearning for their father's approval quite annoying, especially since he doesn't want to follow in their father's footsteps or enjoy being pushed to do all these hobbies, only to never be good enough. Elias tends to pick up Robert's dropped hobbies, doing them for quite a while, despite not getting Lanyon Sr's attention or praise. Otherwise, Elias tends to be drawn more to nature, playing in the garden and forest, looking for plants and bugs. Of course, he still tries to make friends, ever the social butterfly at heart, but it doesn't get him very far. Robert also refuses to join him in his dirtier way of playing, but sometimes will agree to simply watch Elias.
During family balls, Elias is usually kept separate (something else he gets bullied for occasionally), under the watch of a maid or servant. Lanyon Sr attempts to bring Elias out on occasion, trying to teach him to be more well behaved and proper, but with Elias's aversion to the clothes and his general oddities, this doesn't happen much. It's at one such ball that he meets Henry A. Kell.
Elias takes quite a liking to Kell, even if he seems quite detached and fake at first, playing with him every day. Eventually, Kell starts to open up more, growing attached back, and they quickly become inseparable. Kell does also end up acting as a sort of role model for Elias, making him act better to impress Kell. Of course, Robert grows quite jealous and bitter of this, feeling as if he lost his baby brother, who was what felt like his only real tether. Robert grows snappier with Elias for a long while, hurt that Elias would "abandon" him like that, and he's quite rude with Kell, jealous of him.
As they get older, however, they recouncil, Robert apologizing one night at their families cabin after Elias had wandered out, intent on finding flowers to make Robert stop being mad at him. Robert had gone out and brought Elias back in, who had been crying, and they once again became as close as they were before.
In university, Elias tried dating around, seeing that Robert and Kell were doing it. However, he could never quite find someone that wished for more pure romance (graysexual king) and didn't just wish to use him. After a rough break up, he went to Kell, swearing to never date again, and that's when him and Kell got together. Their relationship was quite smooth from the start, finally acting on the romantic feelings they had for each other. They enjoyed going on little "dates", wandering the garden or having little picnics. It was quite rare to see them apart, but they played the "simply best friends" card quite well.
When it was revealed that Robert was getting forced into a lavender marriage by their father, Elias made sure that Robert and Jekyll stayed together through it, acting as a voice of reason for all of Robert's fumbling thoughts. However, when Lanyon Sr attempted to Marry Elias off as a last ditch effort to save Elias's connection to their family name, Elias fought it. Because of this, Elias was disowned.
Kell and Robert of course still supported Elias, standing beside him through it all. Kell's parents were quite alright with supporting Elias as well, considering they had known him so long. Elias eventually took the last name Wright instead, cutting off his father and any of the other family that now looked down on him even more than before.
After University, his and Kell's relationship continued to flourish, ever soft and loving. They moved on to run a medical practice together, eventually taking over Kell's Parent's practice. Elias finally takes to more "proper" and fancy clothing, feeling more confident to be himself as he's no longer tied to his families name. Elias commonly pops over to the Society of Arcane Sciences, usually accompanied by Kell. He's still very close with Robert, helping out on paperwork or whatever else he can help with.
Overall, Elias is quite a kind, empathetic, and optimistic person, despite everything that shaped him. His love for Dr. Henry A Kell knows no bounds, and he loves what he does. He's far less rowdy, but you can never quite take that energy and sparkle from him. He's still quite fond of nature and plants, having his own garden behind their practice, and a large private one on Kell's family's property.
