I’ve felt my whole life like I am not a proper female. I remember me, as young as three years old, arguing vehemently with my maternal parental unit that I am a BOY, gd it! I’ve had barbies and dresses and the color PINK forced on me my entire childhood. (I despise pink to this very day because of the association.) I wanted to play sports like wrestling and football, but I couldn’t because those were “for boys”. And then I learned when I was a teenager that I like both genders — but not sex. And I was apparently “wrong” for both of those things. I always had to talk and behave a certain way because of my genitals, which never sat well with me.
When I finally started to live with the notion that I-have-a-uterus-and-sizable-breasts-so-logic-dictates-that-I-am-a-girl, I tried to embrace my “place” in the world and started focusing on how to be a “proper lady”, yet all the sudden I was “slutty” and a “hoochie” “outspoken” and “disrespectful” and should dress “conservatively”, even though girls who showed off their looks apparently got praise and approval (it didn’t help that the only affection I ever got was from the “family friend” who got way too handsy with me, but I took it because here was someone who was finally being nice to me).
When I finally got away from toxic relatives and out on my own, I tried to be a proper woman, but the label “woman” never settled in and I waited my entire twenties to feel “right”. Then tragedy hit me and my partner and living became survival again, thus I no longer cared what I looked like or what people thought. I stopped wearing makeup so much, I stopped shaving my legs and armpits, I stopped the painful process of waxing my face, and THEN!! For the first time, I actually felt comfortable in my skin. I stopped wearing bras so much. I started wearing geeky t-shirts and jeans and biker boots. I talk in a way that feels right to me, and not how a “lady” should. I stopped sitting like a “lady” and I don’t take shit from anybody anymore.
I began to realize that I never liked being referred to as a “she” and would jokingly tell my friends to not accuse me of being a woman.
Then I started an anonymous, faceless, genderless Twitter (before the muskrat takeover) as a social experiment, and learned that I LIKED it when everyone just assumed I was a guy. I didn’t correct them because I didn’t want them to change the way they talked to me.
I then came to the conclusion that I’m genderfluid. I prefer they/them pronouns, but I really do enjoy he/him.
I still know how to be a “woman”, and I still occasionally present myself as one when it’s needed (or when it’s not a good idea to get into correcting people). I still thought I was stuck being a woman when I met my partner, so I will happily be a woman for them from time to time, because that’s what they’re attracted to and I still want to be attractive to them. But they never try to make me be anything, and certainly doesn’t shame me for my gender issues — they love and support me whatever I’m feeling. (They still refer to me as “she”, but that’s what I still was when we met nearly a decade ago and it’s hard for them to switch, so I don’t hold it against them; they’re not malicious about it at all). And if I’m feeling particularly masculine — even for weeks or months at a time — they don’t try to stop me from being just that.
For most of my life, I’d never heard of transgender or gender-affirming care or anything of the sort (due to being raised in an EXTREMELY conservative environment), but once I started educating myself about it so I could support others, it started to make a lot of sense to me. But I’m still learning and trying to understand it all, so I beg of you, LGBTQIA+ side of Tumblr, to PLEASE help me understand what exactly I am and what I’m going through. I know how I feel — have ALWAYS felt — and that is most certainly NOT feminine.

JKR has been openly transphobic since 2020, and in that time she has said and done many things that traditional newspapers were a bit frisky about reporting. So I thought it might be useful to compile some of those things, either for people who haven't been following the situation closely and want a recap (strap in...), or for those who are trying to explain to their peers why they're boycotting HP and need specific talking points and sources. (Though I would remind you that none of this will convince someone who's also transphobic.)
This list is for reference purposes. I am not here to argue and TERFs will be blocked on sight.
The beginning
JKR's transphobia started out slowly and got more open and aggressive as the years passed and she was spurred on by a favorable response. Those who aren't familiar with how transphobia operates might not think much of it, and later sections will be more compelling, but I still wanted to include this part for continuity's sake.
In 2018, JKR liked and then unliked a transphobic tweet. She claimed it was a mistake, that her representative qualified of "clumsy and middle-aged moment." (x)
In 2019, she spoke in defense of Maya Forstater, a tax expert whose contract hadn't been renewed because of her anti-trans views (x, x). People noted that Forstater had done much worse things than "stating sex is real," (a transphobic dogwhistle) and that JK's tweet was condescending at best and insulting at worse.
In 2020, she complained about and mocked the use of the phrase "people who menstruate" (used to include trans men and non-binary people in discussions of reproductive health) (x). She then doubled down in a thread that was meant to sound supportive while reiterating gender critical talking points, which she concluded by denying that people are discriminated against "on the basis of being trans."
Later in 2020, she wrote an essay about her "concerns" regarding trans people, where she pretends not to have any problems with trans people, while also coming in support of known anti-trans activists and infantilizing trans men, among other things (here is a good video analysis about it). This essay, like most of this section, is not representative of her current opinion on trans people.
Notable transphobic moments
In October 2023, in response to a discussion about making deliberate misgendering a criminal offense, JKR claimed she would "happily" go to jail if the alternative was correctly gendering a trans person. (x)
In the 2023 podcast The Witch Trials of J.K. Rowling, she calls transgenderism "a powerful, insidious, misogynistic movement," and compares transgender activists to the death eaters, her fictional fascist group (x).
In March 2024, JKR denied that the Nazis burned trans research, calling the idea a "fever dream." When presented with sources on this well-documented event, she doubled down, moved the goalposts, then shared a thread claiming that trans people weren't targeted by the Nazis. (x, x) This caused the hashtag "JK Rowling is a holocaust denier" to trend (denying the persecution of a group targeted during the Holocaust is a form of Holocaust denial (x)). This was after she said doctors providing gender-affirming care to minors should be imprisoned (x).
In April 2024, JKR tested the limits of the Hate Crime and Public Order Act that had just gone into effect in Scotland, with gender identity as a protected category. She brought up and slandered ten trans women, mixing up public figures and convicts in an attempt to conflate the two, before concluding the thread by misgendering all of them and daring the police to arrest her. (x)
Rowling's novel Troubled Blood features a male serial killer who dresses as a woman to catch his victims, which is an old and harmful anti-trans representation (x). Her later book The Ink Black Heart follows a YouTube creator who is accused of being transphobic and racist, leading to a coordinated hate campaign from vicious social justice warriors and eventually to her murder (x). JK denied this had to do with her own experience (x). Very few people believed her.
JKR continuously supported the hate group For Women Scotland in their legal battle to restrain the legal definition of man and woman to "biological sex," which would exclude trans women from sex-based protections. (x) They had lost a previous case to the Scottish court, but with a donation of 70,000 pounds from Rowling (x), they were able to keep pushing until the UK Supreme Court passed the resolution in April 2025. This prompted the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention to publish a red flag alert on anti-trans and intersex rights in the UK, which mentions Rowling by name. She, meanwhile, tweeted this:
She frequently singles out and attacks specific trans public figures or trans allies, causing them to be harassed. We mostly hear about it when it involves someone famous (Daniel Radcliff, Emma Watson, David Tennant, Pedro Pascal, etc.) but it's especially appalling when she targets a random person who has absolutely nothing to do with her and was just living their life.
JKR isn't just bigoted; she's obsessed. At any given time, you can open her twitter page and scroll through several anti-trans tweets made in the past week (to the point where Elon Musk of all people told her to go touch grass). Her replies are, predictably, filled with her transphobic followers throwing around slurs and threats of violence, and not only does she never call them out (she used to block people who point it out to her) but she'll frequently encourage them, like here:
Monetary support
One of the biggest justifications of boycotting HP is that JKR has been using her royalties to support anti-trans organizations and campaign to restrain trans people's rights. Here are a few such cases.
She gave 70,000 pounds to For Women Scotland, an anti-trans organization, to fund their legal fees (as mentioned in the previous section) (x, x).
She has sued (or threatened to sue) for defamation many journalists who point out her misinformation and hate speech. (x) Notably, she forced Rivkah Brown, a Jewish journalist, to retract her claim for correctly pointing out her holocaust revisionism. (x)
She created, and will be funding, the "J.K. Rowling Women’s Fund," which supports cis women in legal battles concerning “women’s sex-based rights." (x) For example, she said she would support any woman being incarcerated with a trans woman (x). She had already been paying other transphobes' legal fees (she offered it to Kelly-Jay Keen, for example (x)) but this fund makes it official, widespread and a much bigger deal.
Last and perhaps most worrying, she's been a big donor for the Labour Party (x), which has led people to believe she might influence their politics. In 2024, they offered to meet her to discuss their gender transition policy (!), which she had "concerns" about (x). She agreed, with the condition that they meet several other organizations in-person first, including hate groups like Woman's Place UK and the LGB Alliance (x). Needless to say that a private, unqualified citizen having this level of influence is alarming and deeply undemocratic.
Those are some of the publicly known cases, and we can only imagine what kind of private donations she might be doing. Nadia Whittome, a member of the U.K.'s House of Commons, said that billionaires were funding transphobia in the UK, and named Elon Musk and J.K. Rowling (x).
Intersexism
During the 2024 summer Olympics, JKR participated in the online harassment of Imane Khelif, an Algerian gold-medalist boxer who had been rumored to be intersex and/or transvestigated after one of her opponents dropped out seconds into their match. Khelif filed a criminal cyber harassment complaint, which named JK Rowling and Elon Musk, among others (x). Despite this, JKR was still at it in March 2026 (x).
Later in 2024, Rowling attacked another cis woman, Zambian athlete Barbra Banda, after she won BBC's Women's Footballer of the Year (x). This was seemingly in response to a gender illegibility incident from a few years prior. Meghann Burke, the executive director of the National Women's Soccer League Players Association, came to her defense.
Acephobia
In 2025, JKR retweeted a post about International Asexuality Awareness Day, calling it "International Fake Oppression Day" and denying that asexuality is a real sexuality. She then proceeded to blame "gender activists" for that too. (x, x)

This is, of course, far from everything, but it seemed like the main points regarding transphobia, intersexism and acephobia, which are the aspects I felt most qualified to cover. Feel free to add on if you have the source for it. Information regarding her racism, antisemitism and homophobia would be especially welcome.
I dare anyone to take even a portion of this information in and still overlook her despicable behavior. I used to revere her for captivating an entire generation, but all I see these days is a bigot who managed to make a lot of money and now uses it to make a marginalized group of the human race miserable.

Carolina Milanesi, an independent technology analyst, said Google is trying to make its cash cow business — search — richer and more personalized, and it will make shopping easier. But there is a risk that users may have fewer choices about what to click.
"Right now it's: I ask a question, I get a bunch of answers and I feel that I'm in control as to which answer I take, or if I'm looking for something, which product I'm going to end up buying. That is going to be less so going forward," she said.
Milanesi envisions AI-enabled search and agents proposing products to consumers — perhaps even those they have requested — but with less clarity or choice around where it's coming from.
"If you're going to say: 'I want a pair of Jordans, go find them,' you're not necessarily sure what steps have been taken and whether the AI has used a source or a store that was paid for and therefore came up in the search results," she said, "or if AI actually went and did their due diligence and picked the best for me as a customer."

While Google already has “AI Mode,” the company will now power the whole search bar through its new Gemini 3.5 Flash model.
Instead of the classic list of blue links, Google Search will now also generate a custom page with an AI-generated summary of what you’re searching about, which will then trigger a conversation with AI Mode on the main page, allowing users to ask follow-up questions—similar to the kind of layout you would see when opening ChatGPT.

When Google first started implementing AI-assisted results, news publishers warned of “catastrophic” impacts on the industry, much of which relies on Google search to drive users to their websites.
Last year, news websites saw significant traffic declines as chatbots increasingly replaced Google search as the primary way to find sites and ask questions.
Small businesses also noted drops in traffic to their sites from Google, which has traditionally delivered customers.
Lily Ray, vice president of SEO strategy & research at Amsive, a digital marketing agency, warned as early as last year that Google’s planned changes to search are “going to have a devastating impact on the Internet.”

Prologue
He awoke with a start, a gasp seizing his lungs as his eyes struggled to decipher the darkness.
All was silent and still. Slivers of silver beams cast by the moon breached the many trees enveloping their tiny sanctuary. It cast just enough illumination to highlight the silhouette in bed at his side.
The very…still…silhouette.
His heart rate spiked and his body moved before his brain caught up with the waking world. He surged upright, one hand fumbling for the pulse point at a wrist, laying limply against a chest that he wasn’t entirely sure was moving. The other hand searched out a face — a cheek, a nose, an upper lip.
The abrupt touch prompted a startled breath to jolt from the other occupant. Albeit slow to rise to attention, the captured wrist turned immediately, clasping onto the searching fingers with a Pavlovian instinct, “What! What, what, what?” The other hand blindly slapped the nightstand, searching for the touch light mounted upon it.
The room lit up with a dull, yellow glow. The walls came into focus, followed by the sheen from the encompassing windows. The bed. The sheets. Shane.
Breathing. Alert. Alive.
Ilya’s body relaxed at last, even as his sleep-fogged brain struggled to come back online.
Shane pushed himself up, shaking the slumber from his features. Ilya tracked his movements — the strength of his arms as he pushed himself up to sit against the headboard, the hand that offered reassuring squeezes, the light dancing in very lucid mahogany eyes. A breath Ilya didn’t realize he held whooshed out of him at the sight.
Shane was awake. He was breathing. He was okay.
Ilya’s body felt too heavy. The world tilted, and he pitched forward. Shane caught him easily, all but expecting it.
Strong arms — equally strong as his own — held him snug against Shane’s chest. Careful fingers wove through his damp curls over and over. Ilya kept his forehead pressed against one firm pectoral as it continued to rise and fall in steady rhythm. He breathed purposely in return, working to quell his racing heart. He greedily drank in the scent of Wilderness body wash, fresh linen sheets, and life-warm flesh stretching across athletic muscle.
“I’m okay,” his partner’s sleep-heavy voice assured, like a mantra. “We’re okay.”
“мне жаль,” Ilya croaked. He still didn’t have the wherewithal to lift his head. “I’m sorry — I had to be sure.”
“I know,” Shane affirmed. He took up one of Ilya’s hands in his own again, pressing the palm down flat against his chest. “I’m okay, see? Breathing just fine.”
Ilya turned his head just enough to shift from his brow to his ear, further cementing Shane’s assurances.
“No wheezing, no rattling.” Shane continued, his voice a soothing timber both above and beneath him. “Not even inflamed.” He continued to breathe deeply and steadily, guiding Ilya to follow suit.
Minutes passed, and Ilya’s heart rate finally settled.
“I’m sorry I woke you…” his gravelly Russian lilt pierced the silence after an eternity.
“S’okay.” Shane needed to be up for an early flight anyways. He could always rest at the hotel.
It was a little surreal; incredible as it was to finally be back on the road — and finally back on the ice — this time was something else entirely. In just a few hours, Shane would be getting on a plane, and in two more days, so would Ilya. It wouldn’t be the first occasion they would fly out at different times, and henceforth headed to vastly different locations, but this time…
Shane craned his neck down to peer at Ilya’s face. His breathing had leveled out, deep and heavy. His eyes had drifted shut, but his brow remained pinched, as if he’d slipped right back into the nightmare he’d woken up from to begin with. Shane massaged the sweaty scalp again, hoping at least some of the soothing touch bled into his dreams.
Tomorrow would be the first they’d been apart since the world went to shit.
