this fourth of july I am coming out as a hater about fireworks. no more fireworks. fireworks are neither necessary nor good. they kill and harm birds and wildlife, they pollute the air, they are loud and unpleasant, they terrify my dog, and they trigger people's PTSD. I hate fireworks. can we please not do fireworks anymore

Yes, the United States is full of socialist institutions, meaning public services paid for by taxation. Most of these services are present in almost all developed the developed world. Shared expense for the public good is one of the main functions of government in a civilized country. Remove all of the above institutions, and the country would collapse into chaos.
