Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
It’s July 20th. That’s the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. I’m ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and I’m going to have a goddamn potluck. You’re all invited.
Hey. Hey. Tumblr. Ides of March ppl. We can do this
Hell yeah moon holiday
Ooh coming up we should celebrate
PITCH: We call it Moon Day, and then every 7 years when it falls on a Monday, that's an even BIGGER deal and we call that Moon Day Monday and go absolutely apeshit about it (the next Moon Day Monday is in 2026 so we have a couple trial runs first)
MOON DAY MOON DAY MOON DAY
moon day is 20th July!!!
Scheduling this a day earlier to remind you all and myself about the Moon Day tomorow!
Happy moon day to all who celebrate
This is your reminder to prep for Moon Day on July 20th.
MOON DAY MONDAY THIS MONTH NOT A DRILL!!!!!
ITS MOONDAY MOTHER FUCKERS APPRECIATE HER
Fear is the mind killer or however it goes I haven't read dune
For the record, this is not just shitty for anyone who needs wheels to get around.
This would be HELL for my cane.
I don't use forearm crutches, but I suspect it would also be hell for that type of mobility device.
Same for walkers.
Same for anyone with limited vision.
Almost every single instance of hostile architecture meant to gentrify a place or keep out "undesirables" ends up hurting disabled folks too.
And that's intentional. Because disabled folks absolutely fall under the "needs extra time/care", unless the companies can get away with it
Wtf is the problem with skateboards to begin with
Skateboards let people have fun outside without spending money (except occasionally on upgrading the board). Oh, and some people just hate teens congregating for any reason.
Adults complain that "kids never go outside nowadays", meanwhile the reason is because adults would harass them whenever they do.
Hey so this post is actually extremely inaccurate.
Thanks to a follower of mine pointing it out it was discovered/shown that those latticeworks are actually for water retention placed in key parts of the park, Scissortail Park in Oklahoma City. They are not meant as walkways and as can be shown in the above picture there are clearly accessible pathways which are the actual paths.
While hostile architecture is always very much a thing to be on the lookout for, sadly sometimes we just gotta remember the ancient texts:
Reblogging because I'm fairly certain I blogged this previously and the new info ABSOLUTELY needs to be shared! We really need MORE architecture like this in concrete jungles to help allow water to return to the ground instead of into the sewer system.

People are unfazed if you hate women but if you dislike dogs they assume you're a bad person
Tumblr users will read a post complaining about normalized misogyny and hyperfocus on your claim that it's ok to dislike dogs
Stephen King released a novel last year with just a straight up uncomplicated uncritical rendition of the plural tranny psycho killer antagonist and in the afterword was like "i wanted to do something like Psycho :)"
these things have not been reckoned with
this isn't directly related to the ongoing discussion of this trope in horror and the transmisogynistic legacy of seminal horror films like Psycho, but i think it's worth talking about as a larger illustration of the narrative roles afforded to transfeminized characters:
there is exactly one other explicitly transfeminized character in this series by King (the Bill Hodges/Holly Gibney series of detective novels). she appears in the climax of End of Watch (2016) as one victim in a montage of victims coerced into suicide by the antagonist. she is described very clearly as a trans girl, but is directly referred to by the text as a gay boy. i won't go into detail, but her on-page suicide (unlike the others in the montage) is a dark comedy beat, played for laughs
yes! nail on the head right here. like yes, it's worth it to be like "fuck stephen king" and criticize the particulars of his transmisogynistic writing, but the broader point is that this is what transfemininity looks like in pop culture and it's what it looks like right now!
this isn't history or a settled issue, it's our current reality

we need more mpreg in horror and less fpreg in horror. no more women terrifyingly pregnant, more men terrifyingly pregnant, preferably cis
I hate it because it is often used as a way to (physically) weaken and punish female characters in a way that is so true to life and the way pregnancy is often used to control women in our world, instead of touching on the way it melds into real world oppression and reproductive coercion, it is more like “What if you were pregnant but it wasn’t a cute little baby that you’re going to love, what if it was The Creature?” A cis man, a demographic of person who should not be able to get pregnant being pregnant empathizes the sheer horror, loss of agency, desperation, confusion and possible shame/embarrassment of an unwanted and unplanned pregnancy. AND having the subject be a person who should not be able to be pregnant raises interesting implications about the physical toll on the body and the very real possibility of death. These are things women are expected to face bravely and without complaint, they’re expected to prioritize and love the parasite invading their body without their consent. And hey, maybe if it was the other way around, it could help a few cis men watching gain some perspective on the topic.

my main thing is that it's mega FUCKING frustrating when black people vent about our experiences with antiblackness in left leaning spaces only to get ignored because non black people genuinely think they're being a nuisance but yall only become annoying if you derail our points or speak over us.
and it's more frustrating when a white person basically repeats our points and have people feel more comfortable interacting with them because they are scared of the angry negro. black people only matter as a hypothetical and when it comes time to really listen to us we are talked over and ignored.
i genuinely try to stay compose and not tweak out over it but it's so discouraging that people only want to interact with us black people and our issues from a 10 ft pole while claiming to be our allies. it's performativity like that that gets us put in danger + drowns our voices out, it's why I keep asking y'all to boost black voices. not just mine, but the black people around you. especially your friends or family.

So are we noticing a pattern yet
So are we noticing a pattern yet
So are we noticing a pattern yet
Do I need to spell it out more
I just don't think it's transfeminist at all to only engage with something when it pertains to you or mentions a group that you're a part of! It feels like a betrayal and it aches to know that transfeminist spaces aren't safe for people like me. I want to have a sisterhood with you girls, but is this what sisters do? Not help the girls that they have the social power to step on?
I've lost count of how many instances I've seen one of my white followers obviously going through my blog and liking/reblogging posts about trans girls, but skipping over posts about racialized people! It doesn't stop hurting.
OP was nuked for this post. This one post specifically. As usual, black people and trans women are at the forefront of Staff’s hatred, and black trans women are time and time again the ones being abused the most because nobody cares half as much as when white trans women get nuked. Fucking abhorrent behavior from Staff, and extremely disappointing, but not at all surprising, to see the people who dare to call themselves allies being silent.
I wish all of yalls "love every trans woman you meet" posts actually applied to Black trans women as well.
Oh it does? Then can you stop ignoring us
Can you please stop ignoring us
Can you please stop fucking ignoring us, it's killing us
Please
It's killing us. I don't think you understand it's killing us. Every time you scroll past a Black tgirl getting harassed without doing anything to make her feel less alone. Every time you just accept that a space you're in doesn't have Black tgirls. Every time you don't prioritize Black tgirls even when we are the primary victims of the thing you are talking about (like the ""deplatforming"" of trans girls who rely on mutual aid to survive, which disproportionately targets Black girls). I don't think you understand how much it's fucking killing us when you don't do a thing to help us and make us feel less alone in this transmisogynoirist hellscape. You use us for your arguments, you make one post or reblog about loving Black tgirls to make yourself look good, and then you leave us to die alone and afraid
I'm talking about Black trans women and transfems. I'm not talking about "POC." I'm not talking about "all trans women." I'm not talking about "Black trans people." Stop trying to broaden this post that I specifically made about Black trans girls.
I don't want to hear your white guilt. You are still ignoring us.
If you really need to talk about how guilty you are, how much you suck for being white, how you need to make more of an effort, go make your own post. Several Black trans women have used this post's tags and reblogs to speak about their own experiences being ignored in these spaces. When you fill this blog's reblogs and tags up with your "sorry for being white and sorry for ignoring them," you are covering up and speaking over their experiences in order to try and feel better about yourself. You are still prioritizing yourself in a conversation that is explicitly not about you.
Make your own post if you really, truly want to reflect on how you can be a better ally. Here is not the place for it. Let the dolls speak. Put them on a pedestal like they deserve.
I'm dying. I'm fucking dying.
I try not to overreact but being surrounded in a room of white trans girls who might carelessly take any given action out of annoyance or disinterest with me will kill me
All it takes is a few words, I know all too well how fragile these things are
Everyday the bits of home I managed to hold onto seeps out of me and more until I hear myself unable to speak my own language properly
I search a top to bottom for a face of melanin and see not one
A new white girl gets added to my inner circle and I sigh
I only manage to speak my language for laughs because I can't imagine being taken seriously in it thanks to the Internet
Being racist is always so much more difficult than calling it out
Begging to find someone like me used to get the chains around my neck pulled tighter
Now that those chains have fallen loose I find it's my options themselves that have become restricted
I feel so alone
Every #miku is #canon

Many lgbt teenagers and young adults growing up on the internet today have socially conservative beliefs that they voice at all times that they got from their conservative parents which they’ve never challenged because they think the life experience of being gay or trans makes them politically progressive
This is why I hate it when people say something homophobic and then go “so you’re really accusing me, a whole ass lesbian, of being homophobic 🙄” like yeah
