“You know, no one on the team won’t blame you if you didn’t want to go on this mission. You can just stay here and relax.” Bucky says.

“I know you’re looking out for me, but I’m fine to go on the mission, Bucky.” You say.

“It’s my job as your older brother to look out for you, kiddo.” He says.

“I’m fine to go on the mission.” You say again.

“I was just making sure and like we said, I’m looking out for you.” He says, playfully ruffling your hair.

Bucky always says that before every mission. Like both of you said, it’s his job as your older brother to look after you. Besides Steve, you’re the only family he has left. He doesn’t want anything to happen to you. You’re too precious to him.

You got on the quinjet with Bucky and the Avengers and you guys headed towards the location where the mission is. When you guys got there, you and Bucky stayed behind on the quinjet while everyone went to the mission. Actually, he held you back for a moment.

“Remember, if anything gets too hard or scary for you, call me and I’ll drop everything to come to yoy. Ok?” Bucky says.

“Ok.” You say.

Bucky gave you a hug before you two got off of the quinjet and went to the mission. That’s two more things he always does on missions.

“You got the north side of the base.” Bucky reminds you as the two of you cautiously approached the base.

“Got it.” You say.

You went to the north side of the base like you were assigned to do. You held your weapon out in front of you and cautiously walked through the north side of the base. So far it was clear. Or so you thought, but then you heard the sound of someone quickly passing by from a few feet behind you. You quickly turned around and accessed with caution as you approached where you heard the sound. You didn’t see anyone or anything. You turned back around to continue to check out the north side of the base. As soon as you turned around, someone was standing a few feet away from you. You left your weapon held out in front of you. You stared at the person. You could see their face due to it being covered by the hood of the cloak they were wearing. You watched the person’s every move when they began to approach you.

“Stay back!” You ordered.

The person didn’t listen and kept approaching you. You had no choice but to shoot at the person. The person used whatever powers they had to stop the bullets from flying at them. Then they used their powers to take your weapon away from you, using their powers to destroy your weapon. You resorted to using the knives you had on you, but that didn’t work either. The person used their powers to stop your knives like they did with the bullets. You didn’t have any other weapons to use now. You had no other options than to resort to old fashioned fist fighting. You took a deep breath before doing so and threw punches at the person. You didn’t get one punch at them. The person dodge every punch you threw at them. That’s when you saw the person’s eyes glow. Your eyes went wide. This isn’t a one person job anymore. You need backup. You need help from your older brother.

“Bucky.” You say in a shaky voice into the comm you have in your ear.

“Yea?” Bucky replies.

“I need help.” You say as calmly as you could.

“I’m on my way. Just stay where you are.” He says.

“Ok.” You replied.

You cautiously backed up from the person as you waited for your brother to come help you. The person walked towards you as you walked backwards away from them. You went to turn around to run away from the person, but the person grabbed your arm to prevent you from running away. You watched as they lifted their free hand. Your eyes went wide. You know what they’re about to do. The person is about to use their powers on you. You squirmed to try to get out of the persons hold on you, but their grip was too tight. Then you saw dark light come out of the person’s hand and coming towards you.

“Buck-” You went to scream, but you were cut off due to whatever curse the person was currently casting on you.

You didn’t know what curse they were casting on you, but what you do know is that you’re scared as hell. Within a few seconds, the curse was casted on you and began to work its magic, which was to turn you into a child. A 3 year old to be exact. The person let go of you and disappears like they weren’t even there. When Bucky got there, it was too late. The curse turned you into a child, but he didn’t know that you’re the child yet. Bucky looked all over the north side of the base before calling out your name.

“Y/N!” Bucky shouts as he looks for you.

“I’m right here.” You say from behind him.

Bucky turns around and looks down, seeing you as a child. He frowns in confusion.

“Y/N?” He asks just to be sure.

“Yes.” You confirmed.

Bucky crouches down in front of you to get a good look at you.

“What happened to you?” He asks.

“I saw someone in this hallway and I was trying to fight them, but they used their powers to take my weapons away and to stop my weapons from hurting them. I tried running away, but they grabbed my arm and casted some kind of curse on me that turns me into a child.” You explained.

“Oh my god.” He says.

Bucky was having a hard time trying to process the fact that you- his little sister is a 3 year old again. He’s not sure what to do, but he’s going to try his best to figure it out.

“Everything is going to be ok. We’ll try to get you turned back to normal. Till then, you’re going to be fine. Ok?” He says softly.

“Ok.” You say.

Instead of you two finishing yours and his parts of the mission, Bucky picked you up and took you back to the quinjet. After the mission and the Avengers got back on the quinjet, they were confused to see a child.

“Where did you find a child?” Steve asks.

“It’s not where I found her. It’s who she is.” Bucky says.

“Who is she?” Natasha asks.

“My sister Y/N.” Bucky says.

“Why does she look like a child?” Sam asks.

“Whoever or whatever she ran into on the north side of the base casted a curse on her and turned her into a child.” Bucky tells them.

The Avengers stare at you and Bucky with wide eyes.

“I don’t want to be like this forever.” You say on the verge of tears.

Bucky crouches down to your height.

“You’re not going to be like this forever. We’ll figure out how to get you back to the way you were. Ok?” Bucky says softly.

“Ok.” You say.

When you, Bucky, and the Avengers got back to the compound, everyone started working on how to get you back to the way you were. Meanwhile, Bucky was taking care of you. Since you’re no longer 19 years old for the time being, he bought you clothes that’ll fit a 3 year old.

“Bucky?” You say.

“Yes, kiddo?” Bucky asks.

“What if I won’t be able to go back to the way I was?” You asked.

“You will.” He says.

“What if though?” You asked.

“If you’re not able to go back to the way you were, I’ll take care of you no matter what.” He says.

You smiled and gave him a hug. You and Bucky spend the rest of the night cuddling since that’s the only thing that’ll keep you calm till you get turned back to the way you were. If Bucky is being honest, he likes you like this. He liked it when you were that age years ago. He was always protective of you back then and he still is now. His thoughts were interrupted when you said his name.

“Bucky?” You asked.

“Yea, kiddo?” Bucky says.

“When do you think I’ll be turned back to the way I was?” You asked.

“I don’t know, doll. Hopefully soon.” He says softly.

“Oh ok.” You say.

Bucky could hear the sadness in your voice.

“You’re not going to be like this forever. I promise we’ll figure how to get you back to the way you were. All you have to do is hope.” He says.

“Ok.” You say.

“I love you, kiddo.” He says softly.

“I love you too, Bucky.” You say.

Ever since what happened with Sokovia and the loss of yours and your dad’s family, your dad has been harboring rage towards the Avengers and plans on getting revenge. You, on the other hand, are the complete opposite. You don’t harbor any rage or want revenge. You think what your dad is planning is dangerous and needs to be stopped, but he isn’t listening to a word that you have to say. He doesn’t care how dangerous it is. All he wants is revenge and that’s what he’s going to get.

“Dad, you don’t have to do this.” You say, trying to talk your dad out of his dangerous revenge plan.

“I know what I’m doing.” Zemo says.

Before you could try to attempt to get him to stop, he fake crashes his car into a HYDRA agent’s car. Your eyes go wide. The HYDRA agent peaks between the blinds to look outside.

“Dad, are you crazy?!” You exclaimed.

“Just stay in the car.” He says.

You watched as Zemo got out of the car and approached the HYDRA agent’s house.

“Is this your car? I’m sorry. I wasn’t paying attention.” Zemo makes up.

The HYDRA agent cautiously opened the door. As soon as he did, Zemo knocked him out. You watched everything go down. You waited a moment before getting out of the car and going inside of the HYDRA agent’s house and down to the basement where your dad has the HYDRA agent tied up above a sink.

“Dad, what are you doing?!” You exclaimed.

“I told you to stay in the car.” Zemo says.

“Dad, think about what you’re doing.” You say, gesturing toward the HYDRA agent.

“I told you a million times I know what I’m doing. Now, go back to the car. I’ll be out there in a few minutes.” He says.

You looked from your dad to the HYDRA agent and back to your dad. You huffed loudly before going back to the car. Zemo came back to the car a few minutes later like he said. He tossed the red notebook with the star on it on the dashboard as he got in the car. You grabbed it and opened it, flipping through the pages. You didn’t understand anything that was written in it.

“Dad, what is this?” You asked cautiously.

“Part of my revenge plan.” Zemo says, snatching the notebook from you.

You did everything you could possibly do to get your dad to think about what he’s doing, but it still didn’t work. Now, the two of you are in a hotel room in Germany. Zemo is about to execute the next part of his revenge plan.

“What are you doing now?” You asked.

“You’ll find out in a little bit. Stay here and don’t open the door for anyone.” Zemo says.

You stayed in the hotel room, flipping through the channels on the hotel’s TV. As you did so, you came across a news channel talking about a bombing of the Sokovia Accords conference. You listened to everything the news reporter was saying. Then your dad came back to the hotel room. Zemo looks at the tv, grinning evilly, happy that his plan is working. You turned to your dad to say something. That’s when you spotted something. The mask he had in his hand looks exactly like the man who just bombed the Sokovia Accords conference. You gasped and your eyes widened in horror.

“Dad, please tell me that you didn’t just bomb the Sokovia Accords conference.” You say.

“I did what I had to do.” Zemo says.

“You didn’t need to do this! You do realize that you killed and injured innocent people and framed an innocent man for a crime you committed, right?!” You say.

“You realize that they’re responsible for what happened to our family, right?! I did this for them!” He says.

“Do you hear yourself, dad?! Your rage towards the Avengers and your plan to get revenge on them is dangerous and horrific! You’re framing an innocent man for something he didn’t even do and you don’t even care! You’re so far gone that I don’t even recognize you anymore! I will not stand for this any longer!” You say.

Zemo stares at you silently for a few seconds. It’s the kind of silence that you can hear how dangerous it is.

“Get out.” Zemo says.

“What?” You asked.

“You heard me. Get the hell out!” He yells.

Your eyes teared up and you left the hotel room. That’s when you knew you had to do something to stop your dad from going further into his plan. You needed to go to the Avengers, which is what you’re exactly going to do right now. You found the facility they’re at and quietly snuck into the building without getting caught. You cautiously and quietly snuck further into the building, looking for the Avengers before your dad’s plan went any further. You didn’t know where you were in the building. You were lost in the building. Then the power went out. You didn’t know why, but you still continued to walk through the building. You found the room your dad and Bucky are in. You cautiously poked your head out from behind the wall, watching as your dad impersonated the doctor who was supposed to talk to Bucky. That’s when you saw the red notebook with the star on it again. You heard your dad saying words in Russian, which are the words to activate the Winter Soldier, but you didn’t know that.

“Stop.” Bucky begs.

Your dad didn’t stop. He kept reading the trigger words that activate the Winter Soldier. Your eyes went wide when Bucky broke out of the metal pod. You didn’t see what happened after that. You were too scared to know. You ran the direction you came in, looking for the Avengers or at least one of them. As you were looking for the Avengers, that’s when part of your dad’s plan went a bit further. You were so focused on looking for the Avengers or at least one of them, you ran into someone and fell to the floor, making an “oof” sound when you fall down. You looked up and saw Steve and Sam. They’re Avengers. You can tell them your dad’s revenge plan.

“Ma’am, are you ok?” Steve asks as he helped you up.

“I’m fine, but I need to tell you guys something.” You say in one breath.

“Whatever it is, it has to wait a while.” Sam says.

“No, it can’t wait! I know why all of this is happening!” You say frantically.

Steve and Sam exchanged looks for a second before looking back at you.

“Tell us in a little bit. For now, just stay with us.” Steve says.

You nodded and followed them through the building in the same direction you were running in the opposite direction of. When you got to the room you saw your dad and Bucky in, Bucky wasn’t in there, but your dad was. Steve walked over to him and picked him up from the floor by grabbing his shirt and shoved him against the wall.

“Who are you?” Steve asks in a demanding voice.

“He’s my dad.” You say.

You about to tell Steve and Sam your dad’s revenge plan, but then Bucky who’s in Winter Soldier mode comes into the room and starts fighting Steve and Sam. You watched with wide eyes as everything unfolded in front of you. You looked at your dad who had a pleased look on his face.

“Is this what you wanted, dad?!” You exclaimed.

Zemo didn’t have to say anything. The evil grin on his face says it all. You just scoffed and followed Steve and Sam as they followed Bucky. The three of you went to a seating area and saw Bucky fighting a few more people.

“Ma’am, you’re going to go with Sam and he’s going to take you somewhere safe. Ok?” Steve says.

“Ok.” You say.

You went with Sam to somewhere safe. You guys found what looks like an abandoned warehouse to hide out in. When Steve got Bucky there, you, Steve, and Sam stood in silence while the three of you waited for Bucky to regain consciousness. When he did, the three of you went back into the room he’s in.

“Steve.” Bucky says.

“Which Bucky am I talking to?” Steve asks.

“Your mom’s name is Sarah and you used to wear newspaper in your shoes.” Bucky says.

“Can’t read that in a museum.” Steve says.

“And like that, we’re supposed to be cool?” Sam says.

“What did I do?” Bucky asks.

“Enough.” Steve says.

Bucky looks over at you, frowning in confusion.

“Who is she?” Bucky asks.

“I’m Y/N and I have information that I thought you guys would like to know.” You say.

“What is it?” Steve asks.

“My dad wants to get revenge on the Avengers for what happened to our family. I tried to stop him and talk to him. I really did, but there’s no way of getting through to him. He has a dangerous and horrific plan and if we don’t stop him, he might succeed.” You tell them. “My dad is also the man who impersonated the doctor who talked to you.” You added, looking at Bucky. “Since he won’t listen to me, I can’t do anything to stop him, but you guys can.” You continued to ramble on.

Bucky pries his metal arm out of the machine it was pinned in and gets up and walks over to you. You stopped talking when he gently cupped your cheeks. You looked up at him, gazing deeply in his blue eyes. You and Bucky felt an instant connection the second you two gazed into each other’s eyes.

“We’ll do everything we can to stop your dad.” Bucky says softly.

You felt relieved to hear that. Since you can’t do anything to stop your dad, you’re more than positive that Bucky, Steve, and Sam would know what to do. When it came down to the airport fight, you were inside of the airport with Bucky, Steve, and Sam.

“So, what do we do now?” You curiously asked.

“You wait here while I go down there and tell Tony everything you told us.” Steve says.

“Do you think he’ll believe you?” You asked.

“I don’t know, but I’m going to do the best I can.” He says.

You gave him a nod and a soft smile. That didn’t go well. Now, you’re on the helicarrier with Bucky and Steve. It was quiet for most of the ride before Bucky spoke up.

“I don’t think I’m worth all of this, you guys.” Bucky says.

“What you did all those years wasn’t your fault, Buck.” Steve says.

“I know, but I did it.” Bucky says.

You reached over and grabbed Bucky’s hand, giving it a soft and comforting squeeze.

“I can’t imagine what you went through all those years, but I can see that you’re a good person.” You say softly.

“I know you’re trying to be nice, but I don’t think I’m a good person for what I did all those years.” Bucky says.

“None of that was your fault. You can still be that good person.” You say.

“She’s right, Buck.” Steve says.

Bucky smiles at you and your sweet words.

“You’re so sweet.” Bucky says softly.

You smiled at him. When the quinjet landed at the HYDRA base, Bucky got a weapon and Steve got his shield. Then the three of you stood in the entrance of the quinjet.

“I just want you guys to know that I’m nothing like my dad. I wouldn’t do anything horrific like he would.” You says.

“You’re too sweet to do anything he has done.” Bucky says softly.

You gave him a smile. A moment goes by when the three of you cautiously headed towards the HYDRA base. The door was cracked open. That was enough to tell you that your dad is somewhere inside or he has been there.

“I’m pretty sure my dad is here.” You say softly as the three of you entered the base.

You stayed close to Bucky as the three of you walked through the base. Then a door opening revealed Tony. Bucky protectively stood in front of you just in case anything happened. You poked your head out from behind Bucky and made contact with Tony.

“You brought a civilian with you?!” Tony exclaims.

“She has information on why all of this is happening.” Steve says.

“Trust me. You want me to stay.” You say.

Tony huffs before following the three of you through the rest of the base. You guys found your way to the cryogenic freeze room.

“Oh my god.” You say when you saw the other Super Soldiers in the cryos.

You guys turned around when the four of you heard a noise. It was your dad. You knew he was there.

“Why are you doing this, dad?!” You asked.

“You know why I’m doing this.” Zemo says.

“Well, it needs to stop now. I told them everything.” You say.

Zemo scoffs and shakes his head in disbelief.

“I can’t believe my own daughter would do that to me.” Zemo says.

“You and mom raised me to tell the truth.” You say.

“Your mother and I didn’t raise you to be a traitor.” He says.

Your eyes teared up at his hurtful words. He just loaded video footage of the night of December 16, 1991 on the monitor.

“What is this?” Tony asks.

Your dad left without saying a word. The footage played. It showed the Winter Soldier killing Tony’s parents. Tony’s jaw clenches as he watched the footage.

“Did you know?” Tony asks.

“I didn’t know it was him.” Steve says.

“Did you know?” Tony asks again.

Steve didn’t say anything. He just nodded his head yes. Tony backs up a bit and then blasts Steve. You gasped when he did that. Bucky stands in front of you to shield you from Tony’s blasts and aims his gun at him. Tony blasts the gun out of Bucky’s hands.

“Go! Get out of here!” Steve shouts at you and Bucky.

Bucky grabs your hand and the two of you started running away. You and Bucky climbed upward to escape the base. You got out first. Bucky was about to get out too, but then you two heard a creaking noise.

“Go!” Bucky shouts.

You didn’t have any time to protest. You just got out before you got hurt. You found your way back to the front of the base, which is where you found your dad. You walked over to him to confront him.

“I hope you’re happy now, dad. Someone else might possibly die or get injured because of your dangerous and horrific plan! Is this what you wanted?!” You exclaimed.

“Yes.” Zemo answers with no emotion whatsoever.

“I don’t even know you anymore.” You say.

“I can say the same thing about you.” He says.

You just scoffed and shook your head. You went back inside of the base to de-escalate the fight between Bucky, Steve, and Tony. When you got to them, you gasped and your eyes teared up when you saw Bucky lying on the floor with his metal arm blown off. Your mind immediately made you think the worst. You ran over to him and fell to your knees next to him.

“Bucky!” You say.

Bucky looks over at you. Relief washes over you when you saw that he’s alive and breathing. You couldn’t help but break down in tears.

“I’m so sorry this is what my dad’s plan led to.” You apologized.

Bucky’s right hand gently grabbed ahold of your arm. His thumb rubbed your skin.

“You have absolutely nothing to apologize for. None of this is your fault. You couldn’t have known that your dad’s plan was going to lead to all of this.” Bucky says softly.

Bucky’s hand moved up to your cheeks, wiping your tears away. You smiled when he did that. Then you helped him up. Steve helped too.

“That shield isn’t yours! My dad gave you that shield!” Tony says.

Steve sighs and drops his shield on the ground. Then the three of you got out of there and went to get Bucky and Steve patched up. You stayed by Bucky’s side the whole time.

“You’re very sweet to stay by my side during all of this.” Bucky says.

“Like I said, I can see that you’re a good person. I would also like to keep getting to know you if that’s ok with you.” You say softly.

Bucky smiles. That’s what he wants too.

“I’m more than ok with that.” He says softly.

Bucky’s right hand caresses your cheek gently. You two gazed deeply into each other’s eyes and then he kissed you softly and passionately. Steve saw and smiled. That moment was the start of yours and his relationship.

That day on, you and Bucky got to know each other really well. You and him got closer too. You also went to Wakanda with him for his recovery. Now, you and Bucky are happily married. You two wouldn’t take each other and yours and his marriage for granted.

Bucky and Sam are trying to get information on the Flag Smashers, but they need a little help. Bucky went to the prison your dad is at to talk to him. He already knows that it’s not going to end well when he tells you that he talked to your dad, let alone that he got busted out of prison.

“Are you sure this is a good idea?” Sam asks.

“He’s the only one who can help us with this.” Bucky says.

“Does Y/N know that you’re going to take to her dad?” Sam asks.

Bucky didn’t answer him. He stayed quiet. The look on his face said it all.

“You didn’t tell your wife that you’re going to talk to her dad?” Sam asks.

“I will tell her.” Bucky says.

“When?” Sam asks.

“After this.” Bucky says.

Sam sighs as Bucky walked with the guard to Zemo’s cell. Sam already knows how this is going to play out when Bucky tells you that he went to talk to your dad. Zemo looked up when Bucky got to his cell.

“Soldat.” Zemo says.

Zemo said the trigger words that activates the Winter Soldier, but it didn’t work.

“Nice try. Those days are over.” Bucky says.

Zemo shrugs and walks over to the window that’s separating him and Bucky.

“How’s my daughter?” Zemo asks.

“The last time I checked, you called your daughter a traitor.” Bucky says.

“That’s because she is a traitor.” Zemo says.

Bucky’s jaw clenched when Zemo called you a traitor again. No one talks about his wife and gets away with it. Zemo is just lucky that there’s a window separating them so Bucky doesn’t kick his ass.

“Do not call my wife that.” Bucky almost growls.

“Wife?” Zemo asks.

“Yes. Your daughter is my wife now.” Bucky happily says.

“Huh? I didn’t know that the Winter Soldier was capable of marriage.” Zemo says.

“I’m not here to talk about my marriage.” Bucky says.

“Then why are you here?” Zemo asks.

Bucky told Zemo why he’s there. He told him the basics and then left.

“Now you have to tell your wife that you saw her dad.” Sam says.

“I already said I’m going to.” Bucky says.

Now, the three of you are walking around in what looks like car garage. It was dark in there. You guys were looking around with a flashlight for a light switch. Bucky found the circuit breaker and turned the lights on.

“Why are we here?” You asked.

“We have to meet up with someone here.” Bucky says.

“Who are we meeting up with?” You asked.

Bucky was nervous to answer you. He hates keeping the fact that he broke your dad out of prison from you. That’s when your dad came out of his hiding spot. Your eyes went wide when you saw him.

“Dad?” You say.

“Daughter.” Zemo says.

“You’re supposed to be in prison! Why aren’t you in prison where you belong?!” You asked.

“Ask your husband.” He says.

You looked at your husband. The look on his face says it all. You scoffed and ran out of the building.

“Keep an eye on him.” Bucky says to Sam.

Bucky ran after you. You were outside on the verge of having a panic attack.

“Doll.” Bucky says as he wrapped his arms around you.

“My dad is supposed to be in prison! What the hell is he doing here, Bucky?!” You say.

Bucky was silent for a moment before explaining to you why your dad is there instead of prison.

“I’m going to tell you something. Please don’t get mad at me.” Bucky says.

“Ok.” You say.

“I went to talk to your dad earlier and I may have busted him out of prison.” He says.

“You what?” You say.

You felt your anger bubbling up inside of you. You shoved your hands against his chest.

“Why the hell would you do that?! Do you not realize the hell he put me through the last time I saw him?! He framed you for something you didn’t even do!” You exclaimed.

“I remember all of that. Please believe me that I did this for a reason.” He says.

“What reason, Bucky?! There’s absolutely no reason why my dad should be out of prison. He’s dangerous!” You say loudly.

“I’m sorry, doll. I really am.” He apologizes.

“No! You don’t get to apologize for this! You have no idea what you have done!” You say.

“I do know what I did. I did it for a reason.” He says.

You just scoffed and rubbed your hands over your face.

“I promise I’ll do anything to make it up to you.” Bucky promises.

You didn’t say a word. You just stared at him silently for a moment.

“I’m pissed off at you.” You say.

“You have every right to be.” He says.

You stared at him silently again before sighing.

“I have one condition.” You say.

“Whatever it is, I’ll do it.” He says.

“Keep my dad away from me.” You say.

“You got it, babydoll.” He says.

You hugged him and gave him a soft peck on his lips.

“Do you forgive me?” Bucky asks softly.

“I’ll forgive you when my dad is back in prison.” You say.

“Ok.” He says.

You two went back inside of the building where Sam and your dad are.

“Did you tell her?” Sam asks in a whisper.

“Yes, I did.” Bucky whispers.

Sam looks at you. He can tell that you’re upset that your dad is there.

“If I may?” Zemo says.

“NO!” The three of you shouted at your dad.

The whole time your dad was with you guys, you didn’t say a word to your dad. You didn’t want anything to do with him. You’re trying your best to tolerate the fact that he’s there. The four of you went to yours and your dad’s house. It felt weird to be back there, especially since you haven’t been there in a long time.

“You’re married.” Zemo says.

“I am.” You confirmed.

“Congratulations.” He says with no enthusiasm.

You rolled your eyes at your dad. Zemo didn’t mean that congratulations.

“Just so you know, I want nothing to do with you while you’re temporarily out of prison. You’re only here to help my husband and best friend. That’s it.” You say.

“Ok then.” Zemo says sarcastically.

You rolled your eyes at him. You continued to ignore him. You didn’t say anything to him. Anytime Zemo said something to you, Bucky and Sam stepped in and told him to leave you alone. All you wanted was your dad back in prison where he belongs. When it came time for your dad to go back to prison, you felt relieved that you won’t have to see him again. You know that’s a horrible thing to say and think, but it’s the truth. While Bucky was taking care of that, Sam stayed with you. Sam, being the amazing friend he is, wanted to ask if you’re ok, but he didn’t want to overstep in any way.

“You can ask.” You say.

“Ask what?” Sam asks.

“If I’m ok after seeing my dad for the first time in a few years who my husband broke out of prison.” You say.

“Are you ok with all of that?” He asks.

“No, I’m not. I’m pissed that my husband would even do something like this. All I want is for my dad to pay for what he has done.” You say.

“Well, at least, it’s all over now and your dad is going back to prison.” He says.

“Yea.” You sighed.

Bucky went back to you immediately after your dad was taken back into custody. He saw Sam comforting you.

“It’s over. Your dad is back into custody.” Bucky says.

“Good. That’s where he belongs.” You say.

Bucky walks over to you and gives you a hug. You leaned your head against his chest. The sound of his heartbeat soothed you. Sam walked away to give you and Bucky time alone.

Are you still pissed at me?” Bucky asks.

“Not anymore.” You say.

“Am I forgiven now?” He asks.

“Yes, I forgive you now.” You say.

“I’m sorry. I really am.” He softly apologizes again.

“I know you are, baby.” You say just as softly.

You looked up at your husband. Bucky looks down at you and moves a piece of hair out of your face.

“Promise me something.” You say.

“I’ll promise you anything in the world, babydoll.” Bucky says.

“I want you to promise me to never do anything that involves my dad ever again.” You say.

“I promise I would do anything that involves your dad ever again.” He promises.

You smiled and stood on your tippy toes to kiss him softly and passionately.

“I love you so much, honey.” You say softly.

“I love you too, doll.” He almost whispers.

You were running around and playing in the compound like you always do. You stopped in the hallway next to the door of the conference room. The door was open and you could hear your brother talking to Steve and Sam. You know it’s not nice to eavesdrop on people’s conversations. You were told that many times. You weren’t meaning to overhear what Bucky, Steve, and Sam were saying. It just sounded like you were the conversation topic just from the way they were talking.

“She’s been really stubborn lately. I’m running out of patience.” Bucky says.

“You know how she is, Buck.” Steve says.

“She’s always stubborn.” Sam says.

You felt your heart break into millions of pieces. Your eyes teared up and you ran straight to your bedroom. You slammed the door shut and threw yourself on your bed and started crying into your pillow. You were also wondering why your brother would say something horrible like that about you. You can be stubborn at times, but you haven’t been stubborn lately. Meanwhile, Bucky, Steve, and Sam are still talking about who’s stubborn and that person is not you.

“Sometimes I can’t keep up with her.” Bucky says.

“We can’t either sometimes, but we still try.” Steve says.

“Just try one upping her. That’s what I do.” Sam says.

Bucky hums to himself, thinking about it.

“That actually might work. I might have to try that.” Bucky says.

“Let us know how it goes.” Steve says.

Meanwhile, you’re still in your bedroom. You stopped crying a few minutes ago. Now, you’re lying on your stomach on the floor and coloring in one of your many coloring books. You’re still upset about what you think your brother said about you.

Later, around dinner time, Bucky realizes that he hasn’t seen you in a while. He didn’t see you playing in the lounge room like you normally do. So, he went to your bedroom to see what you’re up to. He opened your bedroom door to see you on the floor coloring.

“I was wondering where you were, kiddo.” Bucky says.

Bucky walks over to you and sits down next to you on the floor.

“You’re quite the little artist.” He says as he watches you color.

You didn’t say a word. You just continued coloring.

“Are you not talking, because you’re focused on coloring?” He asks.

Again, you didn’t say a word. You just nodded your head yes.

“I get it. You don’t want any distractions when you’re busy doing something.” He says.

You still didn’t say anything.

“I hate to take you away from your coloring, but it’s time for dinner.” He says.

You didn’t say anything. You quietly put away your coloring book and coloring supplies before following your brother to the kitchen for dinner. You silently sat down at the table while Bucky brought you dinner. You continued to ignore him while eating dinner.

“You’re quiet tonight.” Bucky points out.

“Just hungry.” You mumbled.

Bucky nods. He knows how you get when you’re hungry. You barely said anything else to him for the rest of dinner. After dinner, he always lets you have dessert, which is ice cream. Again, you ate quietly. Afterwards, you got cleaned up and put on your pajamas. You went to the lounge room to watch a movie like you do every night before you go to bed. You put on one of your favorite movies and got comfortable on the couch. You fell asleep a little over halfway through the movie. Bucky came into the lounge room to see you sleeping on the couch. He paused and shut off the movie before picking you up and taking you to your bedroom. He tucked you in and gave you a kiss on the top of your head.

“Goodnight, doll. See you in the morning.” Bucky says softly.

Bucky left your bedroom, quietly closing the door behind him. He went to his bedroom, which is right next to yours and went to bed himself.

The next morning, you woke up still upset about what you overheard your brother said about you yesterday. You got out of bed and got ready for the day. Then you went down to the kitchen for breakfast. You sat down at the table at the same time Bucky put your breakfast on the table in front of you.

“Good morning, kiddo.” Bucky says.

“Morning.” You mumbled.

Bucky frowns at the way you’re acting. You’re still acting the same way you were during dinner last night. He didn’t want to bombard you with questions while you were eating breakfast so he waited till after breakfast to talk to you. After breakfast, you tried to walk past him to go to the lounge room to watch cartoons, but Bucky gently grabs ahold of your arm and crouches down to your height. You squirmed in his hold to get free, but he didn’t let go.

“Hey, peanut. What’s going on?” Bucky asks.

“You said something mean about me yesterday!” You say, your eyes tearing up.

Bucky frowns in confusion. He doesn’t remember what he said about you that was mean.

“I don’t know what I said about you that was mean. Can you tell me what it was?” He asks.

“I heard you say to Steve and Sam that I’m stubborn and you’re running out of patience with me!” You cried.

Bucky’s heart breaks into millions of pieces and he stammers with his words for a couple seconds.

“Doll, that wasn’t about you. I was talking about someone else.” He says.

“Are you sure?” You asked.

“Yes. It was all just a misunderstanding. I swear none of it was about you. You know that I would never say anything mean about you.” He says.

“Oh ok.” You say.

Bucky wipes your tears away and hugs you.

“I’m sorry.” You say, your voice muffled against his shoulder.

“You have absolutely nothing to apologize for. Misunderstandings happen.” He says.

“Oh ok.” You say.

Bucky pulls away from the hug to look at you.

“You’re a good kid and I love you.” He says softly.

“I love you too, bubba.” You say.

Whenever you spend the night at Bucky’s apartment, he lets you do whatever you want. He tells you not to tell yours and his parents what he allows you to do. He just wants to be the fun sibling is all, in which you think he is. He never has a problem with getting you to listen, except for when it’s time for you to go to bed.

“Y/N, it’s time for you to go to bed.” Bucky says.

“No!” You say.

You ran away from him before he could say another word. You don’t do this to yours and his parents. Only him.

“Y/N.” Bucky calls out for you.

You didn’t say a word. Bucky sighs softly and goes to the living room where you’re jumping from furniture to furniture. You don’t do this at home with yours and his parents. This may be his fault, because he took you to the candy store after lunch today and bought you more candy than he should’ve. He wakes you for a moment before walking over to you and grabbing you.

“Let go of me! I want to play!” You whined, squirming in his arms.

Bucky thought about it for a second. If he keeps letting you run around the apartment and jumping on the furniture, maybe it’ll tire you out.

“I’ll make a deal with you. Put your pajamas on and you can keep playing for a little bit longer.” Bucky says.

“Ok.” You agreed.

Bucky put you down and you ran to your bedroom to put on your pajamas. Then you ran back out to the living room to run around and jump on the furniture some more. Bucky kept a close eye on you to make sure you didn’t get hurt.

A little bit goes by and you’re still running around and jumping on the furniture. Doing that didn’t tire you out. Bucky was getting tired, but you weren’t. If you didn’t go to bed soon, you’ll be cranky tomorrow and he doesn’t want that.

“Y/N, it’s time to calm down and go to bed.” He says.

“No!” You say.

You continued to run around and jump on the furniture. Bucky sighs softly and walks over to you, grabbing you before you could jump onto the furniture again. He sat down on the couch with you in his arms. You squirmed in his arms to try to get free, but he had a gentle and firm grip on you.

“I want to play!” You whined.

“You have to be tired by now.” Bucky says.

“I’m not.” You say.

“That’s probably because you ate a lot of candy earlier.” He says.

“You bought it for me.” You point out.

Bucky chuckles softly.

“Can I still play?” You asked.

“It’s time to relax now.” He says.

“I want to play.” You say.

“You can play all you want tomorrow. Now, it’s time to relax.” He says.

You huffed loudly before readjusting yourself so you’re comfortable.

“There. See, it wasn’t so hard, was it?” Bucky says.

“Yes, it was.” You grumbled.

Bucky chuckles softly again. A little bit goes by and you’re still not tired. Bucky looks like he’s on the verge of falling asleep any minute. That’s how tired he is.

“Are you tired yet?” Bucky asks.

“No.” You answered.

“I have an idea.” He says.

Bucky rocked you gently like he did when you were a baby. It always worked then and it still works now. He felt you relax in his arms. You readjusted yourself in his arms and laid your head on his chest. He looks down at you, noticing that you’re getting tired.

“Are you getting tired?” Bucky asks once more.

“No.” You answered.

Bucky knows you’re getting tired by the way your voice sounds. You just deny it. You always do. You kept getting more and more relaxed as minutes passed. Bucky heard how relaxed your breathing sounds. He looks down at you to see that you’re sound asleep. He covers you up with a blanket that he always leaves on the couch, because you fall asleep on the couch sometimes whenever you spend the night with him. Bucky was too tired to put you to bed and go to sleep in his own bed so he readjusted himself on the couch so he’s laying down. You’re still in his arms.

“Goodnight, kiddo.” Bucky whispers.

The yelling didn’t start till shortly after Bucky moved in next door to you and your parents. One day, he was leaving to go to his therapy session when he heard yelling coming from yours and your parent’s apartment. He frowns to himself and stops in front of the door to yours and your parent’s apartment to listen what they’re saying to you. He wasn’t eavesdropping. He only stopped to hear what your parents are saying to you for your safety.

“I’m telling you that I didn’t do anything! I was minding my own business!” You say.

“That’s what everyone says.” Your mom says.

“I’m telling the truth!” You say.

“Yea, right. Go to your room, you worthless little brat.” Your dad says.

Bucky’s jaw clenches. No one should talk to their kids like that. He waits another moment to make sure that the yelling has stopped before going to his therapy session. Bucky was zoned out during his therapy session. He wasn’t really listening to what Dr. Raynor was saying.

“James?” Dr. Raynor says.

“Yea?” Bucky says, bringing himself back to reality.

“You were zoned out there for a while.” She says.

“Oh, sorry. I was thinking about my next door neighbor.” He says.

“Tell me about your neighbor.” She says.

“The girl is about 12 years old and when I was leaving home to come here, I heard her parents yelling at her about something. I wasn’t eavesdropping. I was listening for her safety. She’s just a kid. No one should talk to their kids like that.” He says.

“That’s true, but maybe she just got into an argument with her parents. Kids get into arguments with their parents.” She says.

“I know, but they called her a worthless little brat. I know this girl. She’s anything but a brat. She’s the most respectful kid I’ve ever met.” He says.

Dr. Raynor told Bucky not to think too much into it, but he can’t help it. He’s only doing it for your safety. After his therapy session, he went home to see you sitting in the hallway crying with your stuff around you. Bucky worriedly frowns and approaches you. He crouches down to in front of you.

“Y/N?” Bucky says softly.

You sniffled and lifted your head.

“Oh, hi, Bucky.” You sniffled.

“What happened? Why’s all of your stuff in the hallway?” He asks.

“My parents kicked me out over something stupid and now, I have nowhere to live.” You tell him.

A new wave of tears fill your eyes. Bucky’s heart breaks for you. No kid should go through what you’re currently going through. He knows what he has to do now. He’s going to be the one to take you in and take care of you.

“Come on.” He says, standing up.

“Where are we going?” You asked as you stood up.

“You’re moving in with me.” He says as he unlocks his apartment door.

“Really? You’d do that for me?” You asked.

“Of course I would. You’re just a kid. You need somewhere to live and someone to take care of you and I’ll be that person for you.” He says.

You smiled and wiped your tears away. Bucky helped you moved your stuff out of the hallway and into the guest bedroom of his apartment.

“I’ll be back in a few minutes.” Bucky says.

“Ok.” You say.

While you set up everything in your new bedroom in Bucky’s apartment, he went over to your parent’s apartment and knocked on the door like he was a cop.

“What the hell do you want?” Your dad asks rudely.

“I was going to ask you the same question.” Bucky says.

“What do you mean?” Your mom asks.

“What I mean is, why the hell would you guys kick your daughter out? She’s only 12. She needs you guys to be her parents, not her bullies.” Bucky says.

“You have absolutely no right to meddle in the way we parent our daughter. You have no idea what she’s like. She’s a worthless little brat who doesn’t get her way.” Your dad says.

“Do not call her that. She’s anything but a brat.” Bucky almost growls.

“We can call her whatever the hell we want.” Your mom says.

“You two are assholes. You know that?” Bucky says.

“Excuse me?” Your dad says.

“Children are a blessing and you two are treating your daughter like she’s worthless.” Bucky says.

“How about you mind your own fucking business and stay out of our parenting?” Your mom says.

“I’ll do you two one better. I’ll adopted your daughter and I’ll take care of her a hell of a lot better than you two have ever have.” Bucky says.

Your parents laughed out loud when he said that.

“Good luck with that.” Your dad says.

“She’s not the little angel she claims to be.” Your mom says.

Bucky narrows his eyes at your parents, giving them the death glare before going back to his own apartment. He went to your new bedroom to see how you’re settling in. You made a lot of progress while he was confronting your parents.

“It’s not done yet, but what do you think?” You asked.

“It looks great, kiddo.” Bucky smiles as he takes a look around the room. “Let’s sit down. I want to talk to you about something important.” He says.

You and Bucky sat down on the bed. You were curious to know what he wants to talk about.

“So, I talked to your parents.” He begins.

“Please don’t make me go back to them!” You say.

“You’re not going back to them. I promise. You don’t have to worry about them ever again.” He says.

“What do you mean?” You asked.

“You need someone to take care of you and treat you the way you should be treated and I’m going to be that person for you. I’m going to adopt you.” He says.

“You’re going to adopt me?” You asked.

“Yes. Is that’s ok?” He asks.

Instead of answering him, you hugged him, which made him smile.

“I’m taking that as a yes.” He smiles.

“It’s definitely a yes.” You smiled.

“I want you to know that I’ll take way better care of you than your parents ever did.” He says.

“You’re already off to a great start.” You say.

“You think so?” He asks.

“Yes.” You smiled.

“I want you to know that you’re safe here and you have nothing to worry about. I’ll always be here for you.” He says softly.

“I know. Like I said, you’re off to a great start.” You say and smiled.

Bucky smiles again. He feels better knowing that you’re living with him now. His only priorities now is to adopt you and protect you. Not only that, you’re also his priority now and he wouldn’t change it for the world.

Bucky got to work on adopting you right away. With help from Dr. Raynor, the adoption process went faster. Part of him was scared that he wasn’t going to get the adoption approved because of his history. Another part of him was hopeful and he continued to stay hopeful. All of the fear left his body when he got approved to adopted you. He was right to stay hopeful the whole time. He’s excited to tell you the amazing news, which he’s going to do right now.

“Hey, kiddo. Are you busy?” Bucky asks.

“No. What’s up?” You say.

“I have amazing news for you.” He says.

“What is it?” You curiously asked.

Instead of telling you, he gave you the adoption papers. You read the adoption papers word for word. Then you came across the words that tells you you’re officially Bucky’s daughter. You gasped in excitement.

“I’m your daughter now?” You asked.

“Yes, you’re officially my daughter.” He smiles.

A smile grows on your face and you threw yourself in his arms to hug him, almost tackling him.

“Thank you so much!” You say.

“You don’t have to thank me, doll. I’m more than happy to be your dad. You’re a good and respectful kid who needs someone to take care of you. Like I said, I’ll be that person for you. The adoption just means it’s official now.” He says softly.

You couldn’t help but cry tears of joy. You haven’t been this happy in a long time. Bucky adopting you made you even more happy. Today is the best day of your life.

“Don’t cry.” He says softly.

“I can’t help it. I have a parent who loves me now.” You say.

“You deserve it.” He says.

After what you went through before he moved you into his apartment, you absolutely deserve a parent who loves you and will do anything for you. Bucky is more than happy to be that person. Also, he never thought he would have a family after what he went through with HYDRA. Adopting you made that family dream come true for him. He’s never going to take you for granted.

“I love you, dad.” You say.

Bucky’s smile grows even bigger. That’s the first time you’ve ever called him dad. It made him happy to hear.

“I love you too, kid.” Bucky says softly.

“Before I leave, do you remember the rules?” Bucky asks.

“Don’t leave the apartment. Leave the door and windows locked at all times. Don’t answer the door when someone knocks on it. Call you if I have an emergency.” You say.

“That’s right, but most of all, stay safe.” He says.

“You stay safe too. I don’t want to lose you.” You say.

“You’re not going to lose me, kiddo.” He assures.

Bucky made sure to get groceries for you yesterday since you’re going to be staying home alone for a few days. He’s going on a mission with Sam and he wants to make sure that you have everything you need before he leaves. This is the first time you’re staying home alone for a few days. Yes, you’ve stayed home alone many times, but that was for an hour to a few hours. A few days is different than a few hours.

“Remember I’ll be home in a few days.” He reminds you.

“Ok.” You say.

“I love you, doll.” He says softly.

“I love you too, dad.” You say.

Bucky gives you a hug and kisses the top of your head before he left. You locked the door after he left like he told you to do. You sighed to yourself as you tried to figure out how to keep yourself occupied for the next few days. You don’t know how, but you’ll figure out how to keep yourself occupied while your dad is on the mission with Sam.

It wasn’t until the third day you were home alone when the Flag Smashers decided to target you. They found out that you’re Bucky’s adopted daughter so they decided to go to yours and his apartment to kidnap you. You were watching TV when the down was kicked down. You scrambled to stand up and saw the Flag Smashers. You went to grab your phone to call your dad, but one of the Flag Smashers knocked you out by punching you before you could.

You don’t know how long you were knocked out, but you’ll figure woke up somewhere that’s not yours and your dad’s apartment. You frowned in confusion, trying to figure out where you are. From the looks of the inside of the building you’re in, it looks like some kind of warehouse that’s been abandoned for years. You were even more confused when you saw that your arms and legs were tied down to a chair.

“What the hell?” You mumbled.

You tried to get free by moving your arms and legs in the ropes, but it was no use. The rope was tighter too tight. Then you heard unfamiliar footsteps enter the room you’re in.

“You’re awake.” Karli says.

“Where am I?” You asked.

“That’s not important. What’s important is that we want your dad and uncle to stop snooping around in our business.” She says.

“They’ll find out I’m not at home and they’ll come find me.” You say.

“Let them. Although, it might be too late when they find you.” She says.

You frowned in confusion when she said that. What’s that supposed to mean. Before you could ask, you saw her get something out of her pocket. It was a syringe filled with the super serum, but you don’t know that. Your eyes went wide and your blood runs cold when you saw the needle.

“Wait, no! Please don’t!” You pleaded as you tried to squirm free.

“Pleading is useless for you right now.” Karli says.

You tried to squirmed away from her as she approached you with the syringe. A Flag Smasher member held you still. Your heart was beating so fast that you thought it was going to burst through your chest.

“Please don’t!” You pleaded.

Karli ignored your pleads. She rolls the sleeve of your t-shirt up. You yelped when the needle pricked your skin. Then she injected you with the serum. The serum took effect in seconds. Your vision went dark and you passed out. Bucky and Sam got there after Karli injected you with the serum. Bucky’s heart drops to the pit of his stomach when he saw you there and knocked out. His eyes go wide when he saw the syringe in Karli’s hand. He knew what was in that syringe- the super serum. He also knows Karli injected you with it.

“What the hell did you do to my daughter?!” Bucky exclaims.

“She was never your daughter.” Karli says.

“Shut the fuck up!” He shouts.

Out of anger, Bucky attacks the Flag Smashers. He didn’t kill them. He wanted to, but he didn’t. He just fought them and knocked them out with Sam’s help. Then he rushes over to you and unties you from the chair.

“Y/N, it’s dad. Wake up for me please.” Bucky says softly, gently tapping your cheek.

You didn’t wake up. You were knocked out cold. Bucky’s eyes teared up.

“Please don’t do this to me.” He says, his voice cracking.

Bucky checked for your pulse. He felt relieved when he knew you had one. He knew that he had to get you out of there, which is what he exactly did. He picks you up and takes you home. He didn’t leave your side for a second. Sam was there too. Bucky was praying for you to wake up. His mind was making him think the worst possible scenarios of what might happen to you due to the serum.

“Please wake up.” Bucky says over and over.

“She’ll wake up, Bucky.” Sam says.

“What if she doesn’t, Sam? Y/N is just a kid. The serum could affect her differently than how it affected me.” Bucky says, his eyes tearing up.

“Let’s not cross that bridge until we have to.” Sam says.

“I’m going to kill them.” Bucky says, almost growling.

“I’m right there with you, but your only priority is your daughter.” Sam says.

Sam is right. You’re Bucky’s only priority. Killing the Flag Smashers won’t get him anywhere.

You don’t know how long the serum knocked you out for, but you woke up what feels like after a long time. You groaned as you woke up. Bucky looked over at you. Relief washes over him when he saw you awake.

“Oh, thank god.” Bucky breathes like he was holding his breath the whole time. “How are you feeling?” He asks.

You couldn’t answer him. You were in too much pain from the effects of the serum. You started crying from how much pain you’re in. Bucky got worried.

“Doll, what’s wrong? Talk to me.” He says, gently holding your head in his hands.

“It hurts, dad!” You cried.

“What hurts?” He asks.

“Everything!” You cried.

“That’s just the serum working its way throughout your body. Yes, it hurts now, but the pain will go away. I went through it too. I promise you that everything is going to be ok, babydoll.” He says.

Bucky’s eyes went wide when he saw your eyes glowing red. That’s when he realized that the serum gave you some kind of superpower.

“Sam.” Bucky says.

Sam looks at you, his eyes widening when he saw your eyes glowing red. You were wondering why they were looking at you like that.

“What- What’s wrong?” You asked.

“I’m going to tell you something, but I don’t want you to freak out. Ok?” Bucky says.

“Ok.” You say.

“Your eyes are glowing red.” He tells you.

Your eyes went wide and you began breathing unevenly. That’s when Sam saw red in your hands.

“Bucky, her hands.” Sam says.

Bucky looks at your hands, his eyes widening when he saw red in your hands. You looked at your hands too. You began to freak out even more than you already are.

“What’s happening to me?!” You cried.

“I don’t know, but we’ll figure it out together.” Bucky says softly, hugging you.

“I’m scared, dad.” You say, clinging to your dad.

“I know, doll. Everything is going to be fine. I promise.” He says softly.

Weeks go by since the serum made you develop powers. It took a while to adjust to having powers. Bucky and Sam helped you adjust to your new powers, which you found comforting. You don’t use your powers though. You just want to be a normal kid like you used to be, but that’s hard for you to do now. Bucky has noticed you looking down lately, which worries him.

“You look down, kiddo. What’s wrong?” Bucky asks.

“I just want to be a normal kid like I used to be.” You say.

“You can still be who you were before you got powers.” He says.

“No, I can’t.” You say.

“Why can’t you?” He asks.

“I’m a freak with powers now.” You say.

“Don’t call yourself that. You’re anything but a freak. You’re still the same kid you were before you got powers.” He says.

“I feel like one.” You say.

“Don’t do that to yourself, doll. I’ve been down that road. It doesn’t feel good.” He says.

“How do I make the feeling go away?” You asked.

“I’ll help you.” He says.

“You’d do that for me?” You asked.

“Of course I would. You’re my daughter. I’ll do anything for you.” He says.

You smiled and hugged your dad.

“Thank you, dad.” You say.

“You don’t have to thank me, kid. I’m more than happy to help you.” Bucky says.

“I love you.” You say.

“I love you too, kiddo.” He says softly.

The Avengers always pick up when something is going on with you. Steve just gets the jump on it first. They worriers, especially when it comes to you. They talked about it before a meeting one morning.

“I feel like we should as her what’s going on so we can help her figure out what she has going on.” Steve says.

“That’s a good idea, but we don’t want to bombard her with questions and overwhelm her.” Natasha says.

“Then we talk to her gently and try to get answers out of her that way.” He says.

The Avengers stopped talking when you came into the conference room. You didn’t even notice that they were looking at you till you sat down at the table. You frowned in confusion, wondering why your teammates are looking at you.

“Why are you guys looking at me?” You asked confused.

“We just want to know what’s going on with you is all.” Natasha says.

“Nothing is going on with me.” You lied.

“If there is, you know you can tell us.” Steve says.

“I appreciate you guys being sweet and wanting to help me, but nothing is going on with me. I’m fine.” You lied again. “Can we please just start the meeting?” You asked.

The Avengers weren’t going to bombard you with anymore questions. Not right now at least. They know you’ll open up to them when you’re ready to. Steve, on the other hand, wants to find out what’s going on with you and he’s not going to stop till he knows what it is.

After the meeting, you went to the gym to train for the upcoming mission. That gave Steve an opportunity to go into your bedroom to look for possible clues to what’s going on with you. He made sure that the door was closed before he started looking around your room. Is it wrong of him to go through your things? Yes. He just wants to know what’s going on with you is all. He looks all around your bedroom for possible clues. He looked in your dresser, closet, and under your bed, but didn’t find anything. Then he went over to your nightstand and opened the top drawer to it, finding six envelopes addressed to the Avengers. He takes them out of the nightstand and goes through all of them. He opened the one that’s addressed to him, reading it word for word. It didn’t take him long to realize that what he’s reading is a suicide note. His eyes teared up as he read it.

“No.” Steve mutters quietly to himself.

Steve was so far into the note that he didn’t even hear you come into your bedroom. You were confused as to why he’s in your bedroom. Then you saw him reading the suicide note you wrote him. Your eyes widened and your heart drops. You walked over to him, snatching the suicide notes from him.

“What the hell are you doing in my room?” You asked.

“I was trying to figure out what’s going on with you.” Steve says.

“I already told you and everyone else that I’m fine.” You say.

“Then you and I have very different definitions of the word fine, because from what I read in the suicide note you wrote me, you aren’t fine.” He says.

“I am fine.” You lied once again.

“Stop saying that! You aren’t fine not fine! Just tell me what’s going on so I can help you! I’m your friend and teammate! Talk to me!” He raises his voice without realizing it.

You just stood there without saying a word. Tears began to stream down your face.

“Get out.” You say.

Steve didn’t move. He wanted to know what’s going on with you, but he’s not going to get any answers out of you right now or possibly anytime soon.

“Get out!” You shout, shoving your hands against his chest.

Steve took the hint that time and left your bedroom. You grabbed the door before it closed and stood in the doorway to say something to him.

“If you were truly my friend, you would’ve left me alone until I was ready to talk about it!” You shouted down the hallway.

You slammed your bedroom door, the slam echoing through out the compound. You tossed the six suicide notes on your nightstand and then laid down on your bed, staring up at the ceiling.

You haven’t said a word to Steve in days. You only talked to him only if it was work related. Other than that, you don’t talk to him at all. Steve feels guilty about what he did. He knows what he did is wrong. All he wanted to do is figure out what was going on with you so he can help you, but it went into a completely different direction. The Avengers saw you acting even more differently, especially since you weren’t talking to Steve, which left them curious.

“Why isn’t Y/N talking to you?” Natasha asks.

“I did something I shouldn’t have done and now she is pissed off at me.” Steve says.

“What did you do?” Thor asks.

“I may have went into her bedroom and went through her things to figure out what’s going on with her so I can help her.” Steve says.

“That was stupid of you to do.” Tony says.

“Yea, I know that now.” Steve says.

“What did you find?” Clint asks.

Steve stayed silent. How he is supposed to tell the rest of your teammates that you wrote suicide notes that are addressed to them? Actually, it’s not his place to say anything. He knows you’ll tell them when you’re ready to.

“It was something personal.” Is all Steve says.

“How personal?” Bruce asks.

“It’s not my place to say anything. She’ll tell us when she’s ready.” Steve says.

That night, you read all six suicide notes you wrote to the Avengers. While reading those notes, you quickly realized that doing what you have been thinking about doing would devastate them. You can’t just do that to them. They’re your family and best friends. You couldn’t believe that you would even think about doing something like that and leaving them heartbroken. You couldn’t help but break down in tears. After a moment, you managed to pull yourself together and went to Steve’s bedroom to talk to him. He opened the door after you knocked on it.

“Can we talk?” You asked.

“Of course.” Steve says.

Steve steps aside, allowing you to come inside of his bedroom. He closes the door and you two sat down on his bed.

“I know you have questions as to why I wrote those suicide notes and I’ll answer any questions you ask me.” You say.

“All I want to know is why you were planning on- you know?” Steve says.

You took a shaky deep breath before saying anything.

“I just thought if I did do it, the world would be a better place without me in it.” You say, your eyes tearing up.

“No, it wouldn’t.” He says.

“Yes, it would.” You say.

“What’s making you think that?” He asks.

“I’ve done horrible things. The things I’ve done for HYDRA are unforgivable. All of that blood is still on my hands. I’m not sure how much longer I can live with myself knowing what I did for HYDRA.” You say, your voice cracking.

“None of that is your fault. You didn’t have a choice. HYDRA had control of you.” He says softly.

“I still did it.” You say.

Steve gently caresses your cheeks so your focus is on him.

“Listen to me. None of that is your fault. It’s HYDRA’s fault. They had control of you. I know that you would never intentionally hurt or kill anyone.” Steve says.

You broke down in tears. Steve wraps his arms around you, holding you close to him.

“I’m sorry.” You cried, your voice muffled against his chest.

“It’s ok. Everything is going to be ok. I’ll help you get through it.” He says softly.

Your crying went on for a few minutes before you started to calm down. Steve rubbed your back to help you calm down. He said nothing but sweet words to you.

“Can this stay between us? I don’t want everyone else to know yet. I’m not ready to tell them.” You say, your voice a bit hoarse from crying.

“I won’t tell them. You have my word.” Steve says softly.

“Thank you.” You say.

“You don’t have to thank me. I’m more than happy to help you.” He says softly.

You and Steve laid down on his bed. You’re still in his arms. Steve felt you relax in his arms. You began to drift off to sleep.

“Goodnight. I’ll be right here if you need anything.” Steve says softly.

You always tell Bucky everything. It doesn’t matter if it’s interesting or boring. You tell him everything, except for one thing. Since it’s the end of the school year, the preschool you go to is having a daddy daughter dance on Friday. You would ask Bucky to go with you, but you don’t want to put more pressure on him and he already does so much for you. So, you’re going to ask Steve and Sam to see if one of them will go with you.

“Can I ask you guys something?” You asked.

“You can ask us anything, kiddo.” Steve says.

You gave them the flyer that’s about the daddy daughter dance. Steve and Sam read it word for word. Then they looked back at you.

“Can one of you go with me?” You asked.

“It’s sweet of you to ask us, but how come you didn’t ask your brother?” Sam asks.

You shrugged your shoulders before saying anything.

“I didn’t want to put pressure on him and he already does so much for me.” You say.

“You know he’ll go with you if you ask him.” Steve says.

“I know, but he already has so much to do.” You say.

Steve and Sam know what they have to do. They have to tell Bucky about the dance, which is what they’re going to do right now.

“Hey, Buck. You got a second?” Steve asks.

“Yea. What’s up?” Bucky asks.

“Y/N asked one of us to go to the daddy daughter dance with her on Friday.” Sam tells him.

Steve gives Bucky the flyer that has the information of the daddy daughter dance. Bucky frowns as he reads it, wondering why you didn’t ask him.

“Why didn’t she ask me to go with her?” Bucky asks.

“She said she didn’t want to put pressure on you and you already do so much for her.” Steve says.

“She knows that I’ll drop everything to go with her.” Bucky says.

“You should go tell her that.” Sam says.

That’s what Bucky is exactly going to do. He found you coloring in one of your many coloring books in the lounge room.

“Y/N, can we talk?” Bucky asks.

“Am I in trouble?” You asked.

“No, you’re not in trouble. I just want to talk.” He says.

“Ok.” You say.

Bucky sits down next to you on the couch and shows you the flyer of the daddy daughter dance.

“Steve and Sam told me you asked one of them to go to this dance with you on Friday. I’m just wondering why you didn’t ask me.” He says.

Like the answer you gave Steve and Sam, you shrugged your shoulders before saying anything.

“I didn’t want to put pressure on you, because you’re my big brother and you already do so much for me.” You say.

“You wouldn’t be putting pressure on me at all. You know that I’ll drop everything to go with you.” He says.

“Are you sure?” You asked.

“Of course I’m sure. I’ll be more than happy to take you to the dance.” He says.

You smiled and gave him a hug.

“I’m sorry for not asking you first.” You apologized.

“You don’t have anything to apologize for. It’s ok.” He says.

Since the dance was a few days away, you needed to get a dress for it. Natasha and Wanda took you shopping for a dress. Once you found one you really liked, they hung it up in your closet so Bucky didn’t see it before the dance. When Friday finally came, Natasha and Wanda helped you get ready for the dance. You put your dress on and they did your hair and nails.

“How do I look?” You asked Natasha and Wanda.

“Like a princess.” They say at the same time.

“That’s the look I was going for.” You smiled.

Natasha and Wanda took you to the lounge room where Bucky was waiting for you.

“She’s ready.” Wanda says.

Natasha walks into the lounge with you. Bucky smiles at you.

“You look like a princess, doll.” Bucky compliments.

“That’s the look she was going for.” Natasha tells him.

“It’s an amazing look on you, kiddo.” He compliments.

“Thank you!” You smiled. “Can we go now?” You asked, tugging on his hand.

“Yes, we can.” He says.

When you and Bucky first got to the dance, your friends ran over to you to say hi. They also said hi to Bucky before going back to their dads.

“Can you spin me with your metal arm?” You curiously asked.

“Yes, I can.” Bucky smiles.

You held onto Bucky’s metal hand and he careful spun you around. You did that for a short moment before you started to feel a little dizzy.

“I’m a little dizzy.” You say.

“How about we just stick to dancing that doesn’t involve spinning?” Bucky says.

“Good idea.” You say.

You and him just stuck to basic dancing. You two did decide to take a break from dancing for a little bit to get something to drink and then went back to dancing again. You two had lots of fun. At some point during the daddy daughter dance, you and your friends hung out for a little bit and Bucky talked to the dads. Towards the end of the dance, he noticed that you were getting tired. The way he noticed is how you were trudging your feet as you were walking with your friends. That’s one of the many ways he knows that you’re tired. He let you hangout with your friends for a few more minutes before walking over to you.

“I think it’s time to leave.” Bucky says.

“No, it’s not.” You say.

“You’re tired. You’re dragging your feet as you’re walking.” He says.

“I’m not tired.” You denied.

Not even a second after you said that, you yawned and rubbed your eyes.

“You’re tired. Let’s go home.” He says.

“Fine.” You mumbled.

You rose your arms, signaling that you want to be carried. Bucky picks you up. You laid your head on his shoulder. You didn’t even realize that you fell asleep in the car on the way back to the compound till you opened your eyes and saw the main entrance to the compound.

“Where are we?” You asked.

“Home.” Bucky says.

Bucky takes you up to your bedroom and helps you get changed out of your dress and into pajamas. Then he tucked you into bed. You grabbed onto his shirt in your sleep before he could walk away.

“Stay with me please.” You say sleepily.

Bucky couldn’t deny you cuddles. He got in bed next to you and you moved closer to him, cuddling yourself next to him. Bucky protectively wraps his arms around you.

“I love you, bubba.” You say, almost mumbling.

“I love you too, kiddo.” He says softly.

You were wandering around the compound like you always do. You ended up in the lab where Tony was working on his latest technology project. Should you be in there while he’s working on it? No, but you, being the curious kid you are, went in there to see what he’s working on.

“Hi, Tony.” You say as he entered the lab.

“Hey, kid.” Tony says.

“What are you doing?” You curiously asked.

“A new piece of technology.” He tells you.

“Can I watch?” You asked.

“Yes. Sit on the other side of the table and don’t touch anything.” He says, pointing to the other side of the table.

“Ok.” You say.

You walked to the other side of the table and got up onto the stool, watching with curiosity Tony build a new piece of technology.

“Is it for your Iron Man suit?” You asked.

“I haven’t decided yet.” Tony says.

As Tony continued to build his new piece of technology, you kept asking him questions out of curiosity. He answered every single one of your questions. From time to time, he asked you to get him a different tool. It was almost done, but he had to make a few adjustments to it before finishing it. As he was doing so, it slipped out of his hand and fell onto the table. It blasted you and sent you flying off of the stool and into the wall behind you. Tony’s eyes went wide when he saw what just happened. He quickly rushed over to you to check on you. When he did, you weren’t yourself anymore. Meaning, you’re a baby now. Tony stares down at you like he just seen a ghost.

“Is everything ok? We heard a crashing noise.” Natasha says as her and the Avengers entered the lab.

Tony whips his body around, staring at the Avengers with wide eyes. They stared back at him in confusion.

“Why do you look like you seen a ghost?” Wanda asks Tony.

Tony stammered with his words as he tried to answer her. They looked down when they heard the sound of a baby babbling. They’re even more confused now.

“Who’s baby is that?” Sam asks.

“It’s Y/N.” Tony says.

“How did she get turned into a baby?” Clint asks.

“I was working on a new piece of technology and she came in here and asked me if she could watch me work on it and I told her she could. It fell out of my hand and it blasted her, which sent her flying into the wall and then turned into a baby.” Tony explains.

Now, it’s the Avenger’s turn to have wide eyes.

“You do realize that Bucky is actually going to kill you when he finds out what happened to his little sister.” Steve says.

“Yea, I know that, Captain Obvious!” Tony exclaims.

The Avengers started talking over each other, trying to figure out how they should tell Bucky what happened to you. Their talking got cut short when Bucky came into the lab.

“Have you guys seen Y/N? I haven’t seen her in a while.” Bucky says.

The Avengers whipped their bodies around, staring at Bucky with wide eyes, which confused him.

“Why are you guys staring at me like that?” Bucky asks confused.

The Avengers, especially Tony, were scared to say anything. They know once they tell Bucky what happened to you, he’s going to freak out. It won’t be Winter Soldier mode he turns into. It’ll be worst than that. It’ll be overprotective brother mode. Like, way over the top overprotective.

“Seriously. Where’s Y/N?” Bucky asks.

Before any of them could tell him what happened to you, you crawled over to Bucky and tapped on his leg. Bucky looks down at you in confusion.

“Who’s baby is this?” Bucky asks.

“We have something to tell you and we want you to stay calm.” Steve says.

“Ok.” Bucky says, wondering what they have to tell him.

“The baby is Y/N.” Natasha says.

Bucky stares at the Avengers for a few seconds before he saying anything.

“That’s not funny, guys. Seriously. Where is Y/N?” Bucky says.

“That is Y/N.” Wanda says.

Bucky was beginning to believe it when he heard it a second time. His eyes go wide and he looks back down at you. He picks you up to get a closer look at you, which confirms you’re the baby.

“How did this happen?!” Bucky asks frantically.

Everyone turned their heads towards Tony. Bucky looked at him too.

“She was watching me work on a latest piece of technology and it fell out of my hand and it blasted her, which sent her flying into the wall and then turned her into a baby.” Tony explains.

Bucky didn’t say a word back to him. He was quiet. Dead quiet. It was the calm before the storm. The quietness kinda scared the Avengers. They were waiting for Bucky to blow up with anger. Bucky takes a deep breath before saying anything, which made the Avengers flinch.

“So, you’re telling me that this baby is my little sister?” Bucky asks calmly.

“Yes.” Tony says.

Again, it got dead quiet. Bucky was trying to process the fact that you got turned into a baby. He takes a sharp inhale as he processes it.

“How long is she going to be like this or is she going to be like this forever?” Bucky asks.

“It lasts for 24 hours.” Tony says.

“24 hours? What am I supposed to do till she’s back to her normal self?!” Bucky exclaims.

“It’s going to be ok, Buck. Just try to stay calm. We’ll help you get everything she needs.” Steve says.

Freaking out won’t get Bucky do him any good, because he doesn’t want to accidentally scare you and make you cry. He did his best to stay as calm as he could. While Bucky was watching you, the Avengers went to the store to get you everything a baby needs. They didn’t get a lot, because you’ll only be a baby for 24 hours. They got you enough that’ll last you 24 hours.

“We have baby stuff.” Natasha says, holding up a few bags.

Bucky rummaged through the bags and found a couple onesies, baby formula, a baby bottle, a pacifier, and a pack of diapers. He put a diaper on you, along with a onesie. Bucky got a bit nervous when you started fussing.

“I know you don’t want to be like this for a second time in your life, but it’ll only be for a day and then you’ll go back to your normal self.” Bucky says softly to you.

Although, the softness of his voice was soothing, it didn’t stop you from fussing. He was trying to figure out why you were fussing. You have a clean diaper on. That’s when it hit him. You’re hungry.

“You’re hungry. Let’s get you something to eat.” Bucky says.

Bucky goes to the kitchen to make you a bottle. He stares at the canister of baby formula in confusion.

“Are you guys sure this stuff is safe for babies?” Bucky asks, holding up the canister of baby formula.

“It’s safe, Barnes.” Clint says.

After making sure that it’s safe, he opened the canister of baby formula to make you a bottle. He stares at the formula inside of the canister for a second.

“This stuff looks like vanilla cake batter.” Bucky mutters to himself.

Bucky makes you a bottle and then made sure the temperature of it is at the right temperature before feeding you.

“You’re still a fast eater.” Bucky says, referring to the way you’re drinking the baby milk. “Slow down though. I don’t want you to choke on this stuff.” He says softly.

It didn’t take Bucky long to remember how to take care of a baby. Everything he learned from yours and his parents from when you were born came right back to him.

“Taking caring of a baby isn’t so bad. It came right back to me from when you were a baby.” Bucky softly coos at you.

The Avengers stared at Bucky. This is a different Bucky than they’re used to. Not the Winter Soldier. Bucky turned into an overprotective teddy bear.

“You look like a giant teddy bear compared to her.” Sam says.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Bucky asks.

“It means that we’ve never seen this side of you.” Natasha says.

“It’s sweet to see.” Wanda says.

Bucky rolls his eyes at the Avengers and turned his attention back to you. That didn’t stop the Avengers from playfully teasing Bucky. He ignored the teasing that came from his teammates as he took care of you.

Taking care of you was pretty easy, except for when you started fussing. He wasn’t sure what you wanted, because he’s holding you, he fed you, and you have a clean diaper. Bucky was racking his brain of what you possibly wanted. That’s when he completely forgot about the pacifier that he put in his pocket earlier. He took it out of his pocket and gave it to you. You stopped fussing when he gave it to you.

“You could’ve told me that’s what you wanted.” Bucky chuckles. “Oh, wait. I forgot you can’t talk at the moment.” He realizes.

You just stared up at your brother with the look of curiosity in your eyes. Bucky smiles at you.

“Speaking of talking, we’re going to have to talk about you staying out of the lab when Tony is working on something so this doesn’t happen again.” Bucky says.

You didn’t understand a word he said. You stared up at him for a moment before shifting yourself in his arms to get comfortable to go to sleep.

“Someone’s sleepy.” Bucky coos softly. “Let’s get you out to bed.” He says.

Bucky realized what he said as soon as he said it.

“Shit. I forgot that you don’t have a crib.” He says.

Bucky thought to himself for a moment. He can’t put you in your bed, because you could somehow get hurt and that’s not safe for babies.

“I have an idea.” He says.

Bucky goes to his bedroom and lays down on his bed with you on his chest. It’s something he used to do with you when he was younger. He covered you up with a blanket so you didn’t get cold and you were comfortable.

“There we go.” He coos. “This is what I used to do with you in the 1940s.” He says softly.

Bucky gently rubs your back as you drifted off to sleep. He felt you relax in his arms and heard how relaxed your breathing is. He smiles and kisses the top of your head before falling asleep himself.

Surprisingly, you slept through the night. You didn’t wake up crying once. Although, you did wake up Bucky with your crying the next morning. Bucky recognized that cry. It was a hungry cry.

“You’re hungry, aren’t you? Let’s get you something to eat.” Bucky says.

Bucky gets out of bed and goes to the kitchen to make you a bottle. Just like yesterday, the Avengers teased him, which he ignored yet again. After Bucky fed you and changed your diaper, he checked the time on his watch. You’ll be changing back to your normal self in a few hours.

“You’ll be changing back to your normal self in a few hours.” Bucky says.

Till then, he just held you and put on kid friendly cartoons on the TV in the lounge room. A few hours went by fast and you changed back to your normal self. Bucky is relived to see you back to your normal self. You frowned in confusion when you saw that you’re wearing a baby onesie and a diaper.

“Why am I wearing a baby onesie and a diaper?” You asked confused.

“Get changed and I’ll explain everything.” Bucky says.

“Ok.” You say.

You went to your bedroom and changed into your normal clothes and went back to the lounge room where Bucky is. You sat down on the couch next to him.

“What’s the last thing you remember before you got turned into a baby?” Bucky asks.

“I was watching Tony working on a latest piece of technology. I don’t remember anything after it blasted me.” You say.

“Here’s what happened, the piece of technology turned you into a baby for 24 hours.” He tells you.

You didn’t respond at first. You just blinked and stared at your brother in confusion at what he just said.

“What?” You asked, making sure you heard him right.

“Tony’s latest piece of technology turned you into a baby for 24 hours.” He says again.

“I was a baby for a second time?” You asked.

“Yes.” He says.

You definitely understand him the second time he said it. Not only are you confused, you were having a hard time trying to process it.

“Are you ok?” Bucky asks.

“I’m fine. I’m just trying to process the fact that I was a baby for a second time.” You say.

“You were completely fine the whole time you were a baby. I took great care of you like I did when I was younger.” He says.

“You did?” You asked.

“I did.” He says.

Hearing that made you feel better about the fact that you were a baby moments ago.

“Now that we got the baby part out of the way, we need to talk.” Bucky says in a serious tone.

That made you nervous. The only time Bucky talks to you like that is when you’re in trouble or he wants you to understand something.

“Am I in trouble?” You asked nervously.

“No, of course not. I want to talk about you going into the lab when Tony is working on something. Something even more dangerous could happen than being turned into a baby. I understand that you’re a curious kid, but you could get seriously hurt and I don’t want that to happen to you. I want you to understand that and not go into the lab when Tony is working on something. Ok?” He says.

“Ok.” You say. “I’m sorry.” You apologized.

“You don’t have anything to apologize for, kiddo. All I want is for you to listen to me and understand.” He says.

“I won’t go in the lab while Tony is working on something.” You say.

“That’s all I wanted to hear.” He says.

You moved closer to your brother and gave him a hug.

“You’re a good kid and I love you.” Bucky says softly and kisses the top of your head.

“I love you too, Bucky.” You say.

Tony happened to be walking by the lounge when he heard your voice. He was just as relieved as Bucky when he saw that you’re back to your normal self.

“Oh, good! You’re back to your normal self. I wanted to apologize for that piece of technology turning you into a baby. I promise it won’t happen again. I hope you can forgive me.” Tony says.

“It’s ok, Tony. I forgive you.” You say.

“I hope you can forgive me too, Barnes.” Tony says to Bucky.

“I do. Just don’t let it happen again. Got it?” Bucky says.

“Understood.” Tony says.

You’re always talkative when you get picked up from school. It doesn’t matter who picks you up from school, you always talk that person’s ear off. Most of the time you’re picked up from school by your brother or your mom. They love hearing you talk. It doesn’t matter what the topic is, they listen to every single word you say when you’re telling them something.

Today was different. When you got picked up from school, you were quiet. You’re never that quiet. It confused Sebastian. It made him wonder if something happened at school. He’s not going to pressure you into telling him. He knows that you’ll tell him when you’re ready to.

“How was your day?” Sebastian asks.

You just shrugged your shoulders, looking out the car window. That’s a sign that something possibly might’ve happened at school.

“Did anything interesting happen today?” He asks to get you talking.

Again, you didn’t say a single word. You shrugged your shoulders again. Sebastian took a quick glance at you. He can tell something did happen at school today just by looking at your face. You had a blank look on your face. That’s what he can see on the outside. On the inside, you were filled with nothing but sadness, but he doesn’t know that. For now, he’s going to leave you alone until you need something.

When you guys got home, you went straight to the living room to play games on your iPad since you didn’t have any homework. Sebastian thought maybe if he puts one of your favorite shows or movies on the TV, that’ll get you talking. It’s worth a try, right? That’s what he did. He put an episode of your favorite show on to see if you’ll start talking. He watched you for a few seconds, waiting for you to say at least one sentence, but all he got was silence. Nothing. Not a word. He just left the show on for you just in case you wanted to watch it.

Sebastian kept waiting for you to say something through out the rest of the day, but you still didn’t say a word. It’s not like you to be quiet for most of the day. He almost wanted to call yours and his mom to ask her what’s going on with you, but at the same time, he wanted to give you a chance to speak up, which is what he’s going to do. He let you know that after you got ready for bed.

“You know you can tell me anything, right? So, if something happened, feel free to tell me when you’re ready to.” Sebastian says.

Still, you didn’t say a word. You just nodded in response.

“Let me know if you need anything.” He says.

You nodded again. You fell asleep shortly after he left your bedroom. When the next day comes, you still didn’t talk. It wasn’t till afternoon when you finally decided to talk.

“I want to go home.” You say.

Even though you are home, it still can mean one of two things. Home with your brother or home with yours and his mom. Sebastian didn’t really think anything of it at first since you are at home with him.

“You are home.” Sebastian says.

“Home with mommy.” You say.

He would be more than happy to take you over to yours and his mom’s house, but he wants to know what’s going on with you first.

“I have to ask, did something happen at school yesterday?” He asks.

You didn’t respond. Instead, a rush of sadness hit you like a truck and you broke down in tears. That worried your brother and definitely told him that something happened at school yesterday. Again, he didn’t pressure you into saying anything right away. He just wants to know what’s going on is all. For the moment, all he can do is comfort you while you cried.

“Does mommy love me?” You asked after a few minutes.

Sebastian was caught off guard. He was not expecting you to ask him anything like that.

“Of course mom loves you. What’s making you think that she doesn’t love you?” He says.

“A girl at school kept saying that mommy doesn’t love me, because I don’t live with her.” You say.

“Just because you’re not at mom’s, doesn’t mean she doesn’t love you. She loves you more than anything.” He assures you.

“Are you sure?” You asked.

“I’m more than sure. Don’t listen to the person who said that to you.” He says.

“Why would she say something mean like that?” You asked.

“In my opinion, people don’t have anything better to do than to bully people.” He says.

“That’s mean.” You say.

“I know.” He agrees. “I don’t want you to think for a second that mom doesn’t love you. She would do anything for both of us.” He says.

“Ok.” You say.

“Do you still want to go to mom’s or stay here with me?” He asks.

“I’ll stay here with you.” You say.

“Ok. We’re seeing mom later anyway.” He says.

You felt better after being comforted by your brother. Also, Sebastian made a mental note to himself to tell yours and his mom about what that girl said to you at school.

“I love you.” You say, hugging him.

“I love you too, kiddo.” He says.

You and Bucky always make a grocery list a couple days before you two go shopping. He tells you what to write down. He always goes over the list to make sure you wrote everything down before you two leave the apartment.

“Put your shoes on. We’re going to the store.” Bucky says.

“Ok.” You say.

You love going shopping with your brother. You think it’s fun. Sometimes you try to sneak stuff that’s not on the list into the cart, but he always catches you.

“Do you know the rules?” Bucky asks as you two walk inside of the store.

“Stay with you and be good.” You say.

“That’s right.” He says, playfully ruffling your hair.

Most of the time, you sit in the cart as you two grocery shop, but this time, you didn’t. You walked next to Bucky and helped him put groceries into the cart. You found something you wanted and attempted to sneak it into the cart.

“Put it back.” Bucky says.

“You weren’t even looking! How did you know I want trying to put something in the cart?” You say.

“I know all of your tricks, kid.” He says.

It’s true. Bucky always knows what you’re up to. It’s like his superpower. You playfully narrowed your eyes at your brother before putting the item you attempted to put in the cart.

“You can get the cereal you’ve been talking about all week.” Bucky says.

“Really?” You asked.

“Yes.” He says.

Bucky followed you as you excitedly went to the cereal aisle. You found the cereal you’ve been talking about all week, but you also saw another cereal you really like.

“Can I get both please?” You asked.

Before Bucky could say yes or no, you gave him puppy dog eyes. You didn’t need to give him that face for him to say yes. He was going to tell you to pick one or the other, but he ended up giving into your puppy dog eyes.

“You can get both.” Bucky says.

You grabbed both cereals and put them in the cart. Then you two went to the snack aisle.

“You need snacks for preschool.” He says.

You got your two favorite snacks and put them in the cart. Bucky crossed everything off the list, except for the fruits you two want to get. While Bucky got some plums, you got the fruit you wanted.

“Looks like we got everything, but it can hurt to double check, right?” Bucky says.

“Right.” You agreed.

While back was double checking the list to make sure you got everything, you saw something interesting across from the fruit section. You knew better to walk away from your brother when you two are in public, but you wandered off anyway.

“We got everything, kiddo. Let’s checkout and go home.” Bucky says.

Bucky frowns in confusion when you didn’t respond. He looks down to see that you’re no longer next to him. His eyes went wide and his heart dropped.

“Y/N?” Bucky calls out for you, thinking that you were looking at the other fruits in the fruit section.

Bucky began to panic when you didn’t respond again. That’s when he realized that you wandered off.

“Shit.” Bucky mutters frantically.

As he was looking for you, you turned around to go back to the fruit section where Bucky is. Or where he was a few seconds ago. You walked over to the area of the fruit section where he just was and looked around for him.

“Bucky?” You say.

You kept looking around for him in the same area for another few seconds before panicking. You were beginning to think that he left you at the store. Bucky would never do that, but that didn’t stop your eyes from tearing up.

“Bucky?” You say again.

You whimpered softly before you started crying. Meanwhile, Bucky was going from aisle to aisle looking for you. People were giving him weird looks from the way he looked while he was looking for you. He didn’t care. All he cares about if you’re ok. His mind wandered to the thought of someone kidnapping you. Not just someone, HYDRA, but why would they take you from him while you’re standing next to him. That thought began to fade away when he heard the sound of a little kid crying. He stops walking and tries to locate the sound of the cry. As he was doing so, he quickly recognized the cry. It’s your cry. He follows the sound of you crying and found you standing in the fruit section crying.

“Oh, thank god.” Bucky says in relief.

Bucky walks over to you and crouches down in front of you. You immediately wrapped your arms around him before he could hug you. Your crying was muffled against his shoulder.

“I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to walk away from you. I saw something cool and I wanted to get a closer look at it. Please don’t be mad at me!” You apologized profusely.

“Hey, hey. Look at me.” Bucky says.

You sniffled and lifted your head up to look at him.

“I am not mad at you. I just got scared when I didn’t see you next to me. I thought someone kidnapped you. That’s why I tell you to stay next to me everywhere we go.” He says softly.

“I’m sorry.” You apologized again.

“It’s ok. Just don’t do it again. Ok?” He says.

“Ok.” You say.

Bucky gives you another hug and then wipes your tears away.

“How about we stop at that toy store you like on the way home?” Bucky suggests.

“Really?” You asked.

“Yes.” He smiles.

You smiled and gave him a hug. You two paid for the groceries and then went to the toy store you like. You got a stuffed animal and legos.

“I’m sorry for walking away from you.” You apologized once more as you two entered yours and his apartment.

“It’s ok, kiddo.” Bucky says.

“I love you.” You say, hugging his leg.

“I love you too, doll.” He says, playfully ruffling your hair.

You helped Bucky put the groceries away and then you two watched cartoons in the living room. You were cuddled next to him. You learned a lesson today and that’s to not walk away from your brother or any adult you’re with when you’re out in public.

Yours and Bucky’s mom not being around for Mother’s Day isn’t easy for either of you. Bucky knew Mother’s Day weekend was coming up, but you didn’t. You didn’t know that Mother’s Day was that Sunday until your preschool teacher said something about it at preschool today. It only reminded you that you don’t have a mom. While your friends were making homemade Mother’s Day cards for their moms, you just drew little doodles on a blank piece of paper. You drew a stick figure of what your life was like before HYDRA got their hands on you.

“Are you going to make your mommy a card for Mother’s Day?” One of your friends asks.

“I can’t.” You say.

“What not?” Another one of your friends asks.

“I don’t have a mommy. She died a long time ago.” You say.

“Oh.” Your friends say.

For the rest of the day at preschool, you distanced yourself from your friends. You didn’t mean it as a rude gesture. You only did it, because hearing what your friends are going to do with their moms on Mother’s Day made you sad. Your teacher noticed it too and walked over to you to check on you.

“Why aren’t you hanging out with your friends?” Your teacher asks.

“They keep talking about the fun things they’re doing with their mommies for Mother’s Day.” You say.

“You’re not going to tell them the fun things you’re going to do with your mommy on Mother’s Day?” She asks.

“I wish I could.” You say.

“What do you mean?” She asks.

“I don’t have a mommy. She died a long time ago.” You say.

“Oh. I’m so sorry to hear that.” She gives her condolences.

It upset you that you had to say that a second time today. Saying it makes it even more real than it already was. Your teacher made a mental note to herself as a reminder to talk to Bucky when he picks you up today.

At the same end of the school day, you didn’t run over to your brother like you always do when he picks you up from preschool. Today, he walked over to you when he picked you up. That’s when your teacher approaches him to talk to him about you distancing yourself from your friends and what you said about not having a mom.

“I would like to talk to you Y/N.” Your teacher says.

“Did she do something to get in trouble?” Bucky asks.

“No. It’s the complete opposite.” She says.

“What happened?” He asks.

“Today, the kids were making homemade cards for their mom’s for Mother’s Day. I noticed her distancing herself from her friends when they were making their mom’s cards and I asked her why she wasn’t making cards with her friends and she said something about not having a mom.” She tells him.

“Thank you for letting me know. I’ll talk to her when we get home.” He says.

On the way home, you didn’t say one word. You just looked out the window silently. You’re never quiet. You always tell him about your day, but today you didn’t know. He heard what your teacher said. He just wants to give you a chance to say something. If you don’t, then he’ll bring it up.

“Y/N, can I talk to you for a moment?” Bucky asks when you two got home.

You still didn’t say a word. You just went to the living room and sat down on the couch, wondering what he wants to talk to you about.

“Your teacher talked to me today. I heard what she said. I just want to give you a chance to tell me.” He says softly.

All you did was shrug your shoulders.

“I need a better answer than a shoulder shrug, kiddo.” He says.

You didn’t say anything. You gave him another shoulder shrug.

“I need you to talk to me so I can help you.” He says softly.

That’s when your eyes teared up and your bottom lip quivered. You crawled onto Bucky’s lap and started crying. Bucky wraps his arms around you, holding you as you cried.

“I miss mommy.” You finally say.

“I do too, doll.” Bucky says softly.

“I hate not having a mommy.” You say.

“So do I.” He says.

You cried and cried. Bucky wishes that he could do something to take the pain away for you.

“I just want to celebrate Mother’s Day like the other kids.” You say.

That’s when Bucky came up with an idea.

“Even though mom is no longer here, we can still celebrate Mother’s Day.” Bucky says.

“How?” You asked.

“We can buy flowers and take them to the cemetery to put on mom’s grave and I can show you pictures of her. How’s that sound?” He suggests.

“I like that.” You say and smiled.

“Me too.” He smiles.

When Mother’s Day came, you and Bucky bought yours and his mom’s favorite flowers and then went to the cemetery. He lead you to yours and his parents headstone. He let you place the flowers on the grave.

“Now what?” You asked, looking up at your brother.

“You can say something if you want.” Bucky says softly.

“I can?” You asked.

Bucky smiles and nods. You sat down in the grass in front of the headstone and started talking to it like yours and his mom was there. Bucky thought it was cute. You guys stayed there for a while before going home. Bucky searched for the photo albums so he can show you pictures of yours and his mom.

“What’s that?” You asked, referring to the photo albums.

“It’s photo albums. There’s pictures of us, Rebecca, mom, and dad in them.” Bucky tells you.

Bucky sat down on the couch and patted the spot on the couch next to him. You got on the couch and sat down next to him. The photo album he started with was your baby book.

“That’s mommy?” You asked.

“Yes.” Bucky says.

“Who’s the baby she’s holding?” You asked, pointing at the baby in the picture.

“That’s you, kiddo.” He says.

“It is?” You asked.

“Yes.” He says.

“I was tiny.” You say.

“You were. You also looked like mom. I used to call you mom’s mini twin.” He says.

“Really?” You asked.

Bucky nods and smiles. He saw you smile at every picture you looked at.

“I miss mommy.” You say.

“I do to. You know what? Mom would want us to be happy.” Bucky says.

“How can we be happy if she’s not here anymore?” You asked.

“She will always be in our hearts and memories.” He says softly.

“She will?” You asked.

“Yes.” He says.

You smiled and hugged your brother.

“I love you, bubba.” You say.

“I love you too, kiddo.” He says softly.

Every year going forward, you and Bucky made it a tradition on Mother’s Day to go to the cemetery to put flowers on yours and his mom’s grave and look at pictures of her.

Bucky triple checked the weather for today to make sure it’s not cold, raining, and snowing. You haven’t gotten outside much besides, going to and from school and running errands with your brother or one of the Avengers. The weather for today isn’t too cold or too warm. It’s cool outside, but not that cool. It’s warm enough for you to play outside. When he was done triple checking the weather, he decided that it would be a good idea to take you to the park so you can play and get some fresh air.

“Do you want to go to the park?” Bucky asks you.

“Yes!” You answered excitedly.

You were so excited that you ran straight to the main entrance without putting a jacket or a sweatshirt on.

“Woah, woah. Hold on a second.” Bucky says, stopping you.

“What?” You asked.

“You’re forgetting something.” He points out.

You frowned and confusion and looked down. You already have your shoes on. What are you forgetting?

“What am I forgetting?” You asked confused.

“A jacket of some kind.” Bucky says.

“Oh yea.” You say.

“Go out one on and then we can go to the park.” He says.

You ran straight to your bedroom and grabbed a hoodie. You put it on and ran back to the main entrance. You saw Sam on your way back down to the entrance.

“We’re going to the park.” You tell Sam.

“That’s cool. Have fun.” Sam says.

“You should come with me and Bucky. You can’t say no.” You say.

You grabbed Sam’s hand and pulled him towards the door before he could say anything else.

“Sam is coming with us.” You tell Bucky.

“That’s fine. He can come with us.” Bucky says.

Since the park is within walking distance of the compound, the three of you walked there. You were unable to contain your excitement. Bucky held your hand so you didn’t run away from him. Not that you would do that. He just knows how you get when you get excited about something.

“Alright, kiddo. Go have fun. Be careful and stay where we can see you. Sam and I will be right here. Ok?” Bucky says.

“Ok.” You say.

You ran straight into the playground area. Bucky smiles as he watches you play. Even with a lot of kids there, he never lost sight of you for a second. Then him and Sam started talking. You have no idea what they were talking about when you looked over at them. You assumed it was Avenger stuff. You smiled and waved at them. They smiled and waved back at you. You were standing by the swing patiently waiting for your turn.

Little did Bucky and Sam know that there’s a HYDRA agent on the sidewalk not too far from where the swings are. Due to a lot of kids being at the park, the HYDRA agent made his way over to you and grabbed you. He puts his hand over your mouth as you tried to scream for help. The HYDRA agent threw you into the back of a SUV. It didn’t take long for Bucky and Sam to realize that you’re no longer on the playground or anywhere in the park.

“Where’s Y/N?” Bucky asks, trying to stay calm.

“I don’t know. She was just here.” Sam says.

Bucky and Sam looked all over the park for you and asked people if they have seen you. They didn’t see you and the people they asked were clueless to you not being there. That’s when panic began to set in for Bucky.

“This isn’t happening.” Bucky says over and over to himself.

As Bucky was trying to think of where you could’ve possibly went, he heard the sound of a car starting. He looks over at it. His eyes grow wide. He immediately recognizes the SUV. It’s HYDRA. Not only was panic setting in, anger began to course through his veins.

“HYDRA.” Bucky says under his breath, loud enough for Sam to hear him.

Sam saw the HYDRA SUV too. Bucky ran after it as it began to drive off. Sam follows him. When they caught up to the SUV, Bucky uses all of his strength in his legs to jump onto the hood of the SUV. He punches his vibranium fist through the windshield and chokes the HYDRA agent. The HYDRA agent slams on the breaks to attempt to get Bucky off of the hood of the SUV, but it didn’t work. Sam opened the car door and pulled the HYDRA agent out of the car, pinning his arms behind his back like he’s about to get handcuffed. Bucky gets off of the hood of the car and rushes to the back door, opening it and getting you out of the car. You immediately cling to your brother and started crying.

“You’re ok now. I promise.” Bucky says softly.

The panic left Bucky’s body, but the anger didn’t. He walks over to the HYDRA agent who is still restrained by Sam.

“Why did you take my sister?” Bucky asks the HYDRA agent, almost gritting his teeth.

The HYDRA agent smirks evilly before saying anything.

“Your sister is going to be our next experiment. We’re going to turn her into our next Winter Soldier. She’ll be even more deadly and powerful than you ever were.” The HYDRA agent tells him.

Bucky’s jaw clenches and he cringes at the thought of HYDRA treating you like a science experiment.

“There’s no way in hell I’m going to let you assholes treat my little sister like a science experiment. She’s just a child.” Bucky says.

“You really think you can stop us, Soldat? You lost track of her at the park. What kind of older brother does that make you?” The HYDRA agent says.

Bucky couldn’t listen to another word that comes from the HYDRA agent’s mouth. He punches him with his vibranium fist, knocking him out instantly. Sam lets go of him and he falls to the ground.

“I want to go home.” You say.

“I know you do, doll.” Bucky says softly.

Bucky tries to hand you over to Sam, but you just cling to your brother tighter.

“I need you to go back to the compound with Sam while I take care of something. Everything is going to be ok. I promise.” Bucky says softly.

You stared at Bucky with teary eyes for a second before he put you into Sam’s arms. Sam watches Bucky as he takes the HYDRA agent’s gun out of the holster.

“Bucky, what are you doing?” Sam asks cautiously.

“I’m going to pay those bastards a visit and destroy their plan of what they’re going to do to Y/N.” Bucky says.

“You need backup. You can’t just go there guns blazing.” Sam says.

“I’m not going to kill anyone if that’s what you’re thinking. I’m just going to scare them and destroy the plan of they’re going to do to my sister. I’m doing this to protect her. I’ll be fine.” Bucky says.

Sam would much rather him and the Avengers go with Bucky, but there’s no way of talking him into that. Besides, someone has to keep an eye on you while he does that.

“Just be careful, man.” Sam says.

“I will.” Bucky says.

While Sam took you back to the compound, Bucky tracked down the HYDRA base, which wasn’t far. Bucky knocked out the guard that was posted at the entrance and then he cautiously enters the base with the gun held up in front of him. So far, everything is clear. Then he found a room that’s set up like a conference room with a few HYDRA agents in there. He didn’t hesitate to kick down the door with the gun aimed at them. They weren’t even phased one bit.

“Well, well, well. If it isn’t the infamous Winter Soldier.” The leader of the group says.

“Cut the shit. I know your plan to experiment on my little sister and turn her into a deadly and powerful soldier.” Bucky says, getting straight to the point.

“If you willingly hand your sister over to us, we can make her the deadly and powerful asset you once were. Remember those day, Soldat?” The leader says.

Bucky marches over to the leader, wrapping his vibranium hand around his throat and slamming him against the wall.

“You guys are fucking stupid to think that I’m going to let you guys experiment on my little sister. She’s just a child. You guys are fucking sick.” Bucky says, his voice sounding dangerous.

“Just hand her over and we can get started.” The leader says, completely ignoring what Bucky just said.

Bucky stares at the leader of the group with a murderous look on his face for a few seconds before knocking him out. That’s when the HYDRA agents aimed their guns at Bucky. He wasn’t intimidated by them one bit. He shielded himself with his vibranium arm when they started shooting at him. Bucky easily took each and every one of them down. Then he destroyed their plan of what they were going to do to you.

“Fucking assholes.” Bucky says under his breath as he left the base.

Meanwhile, you’re still pretty shaken up after what happened. The Avengers managed to get you to calm down by putting a movie on for you. Sam caught the Avengers up to speed of what happened to you when you were at the park and what HYDRA had planned for you.

“Bucky went to the base without any backup, didn’t he?” Steve says.

“I tried telling him that he needed backup, but there was no way of getting through to him. I get why he would want to confront them alone though. He just wants to protect his sister. That’s understandable.” Sam says.

“That is understandable, but he still should’ve had backup just in case it went sideways.” Natasha says.

“Let’s just hope that it didn’t go sideways. He would’ve called us if it did.” Steve says.

Moments later, Bucky gets back to the compound. The Avengers are wondering how it went.

“Where’s Y/N?” Bucky asks just to be sure.

“She’s watching movies in the lounge room.” Sam says.

“Good. That’s good.” Bucky says.

“What were you thinking, Buck? You should’ve called us. We would’ve been more than happy to help you.” Steve says.

“I was doing what I needed to do to protect my little sister. You of all people should know that. Actually, all of you should know that.” Bucky says.

“We understand that, Bucky, but you need to call us next time something like this happens.” Natasha says.

“There isn’t going to be a next time, because I eliminated their plan on what they’re going to do to Y/N.” Bucky says.

“What do you mean by eliminated?” Steve asks.

“I didn’t kill anyone if that’s what you’re thinking. I only destroyed their plans and fought them. That’s it. I only did it to protect my sister.” Bucky says.

You heard Bucky’s voice down the hall from the lounge room. You got off of the couch and ran out of the room and down the hall to Bucky.

“Bucky!” You say.

Bucky smiles when he sees you. He picks you up when you got to him and holds you close to him.

“I don’t want to be a weapon for HYDRA.” You say.

“That’s never going to happen, doll. I promise.” Bucky says softly.

“That was scary.” You say.

“I know it was. The good thing is that you’re safe now and nothing is going to happen to you.” He says.

“Promise?” You asked.

“Promise.” He promises.

“I love you, bubba.” You say.

“I love you too, kiddo.” He says softly.

No matter what the situation is, Bucky will always make it his mission to protect you.
