my korrasami roots <3

This is why we create, this is why we don’t hide even in the face of great adversity. Our stories are beautiful, and moving, and remember how much it means to people. I love being queer, I love being a lesbian, I love being trans, I love us. I love our joy, our stories, our hearts. I love the way we love.

Don’t loose sight of that, in all the discourse, in all the inter community fighting, don’t loose sight of The Reason™️. Remember how far we’ve come.

Look at where we are, look at where we started. Your love, your joy, your story, your visibility MATTERS. The art you create matters.

So a while back, I made a CaitVi comic similar to this and @lokfinest wanted so see a korrasami version and I couldn’t refuse.

i cried at the finale for a long time, hiccuping sobs and everything to which i didn’t understand. i came to realize at that time that i was attracted to women and had felt so much shame after religious and societal indoctrination. i remember being so enamored with asami sato as a child. i thought she was so beautiful.

korrasami was my first representation that being gay is okay, that me being attracted to members of the same sex is okay and not just okay – it’s beautiful and differences should be celebrated!

( not just that, but korra really helped me with my mental health issues and was my first introduction to the world of mental health – even if it’s just physically shown with chains and the literal poison in her body. to go along with that, it was so cool to see fellow asians on screen as a kid?? )

since then, i’ve been out to my parents and all my friends since 2018 and all are supportive. i’ve since left my old religion last year and things are better with therapy and time. i’m here, i’m alive when at one point i didn’t want to be because of how i felt about other women.
