Congratulations on completing 85% of our Week 2 goals! But will it be enough to keep Mallory from micro-managing?
Q barrells into Moneypenny’s office. “He knows!”
“Eve, he knows about the double-ohs!” The boffin flops into a chair, looking like he’s on the edge of a breakdown.
“Q, luv, for the last time, what are you talking about?”
“He finally saw Mallory’s email from Wednesday about the double-oh’s involvement with the Games,” Tanner clarifies as he enters carrying a bag of muffins and closes the door behind him. “And he doesn’t believe me when I told him you took care of it.”
Q looks back and forth between his colleagues in disbelief. “But Mallory instructed us to keep them on a tighter leash and now there’s a second challenge!”
Eve digs into the bag of muffins and all but shoves one in Q’s mouth. “Bill,” she says, nodding at the kettle on the sideboard, “would you please make up some tea before we need to sedate him?
“Now Q,” she turns back to the younger man who was thankfully chewing on the mouthful of muffin. “I have already handled the situation. I pointed out that participation has gone up since our resident troublemakers decided to get involved. Yes he still wants us to keep our eyes on them, but after what happened in Kyiv that one time, who can blame him? Besides, I’m up today and you know I can handle things.”
Unnoticed by the others, Bill slips a flask from his pocket and upends some of its contents into his own cup. The less said about “that one time in Kyiv” the better.
Heels click like the snap of an opening switchblade as Eve takes her place at the podium. She looks over the crowd, pulls out her phone, and presses a button. The opening lines to the Beatles "Revolution" blare over the speakers, startling the two resident cats out of their half doze.
“Alright people,” she declares as the music fades out. “We’ve passed the halfway point for the month and it’s time to shine! This week’s theme is creativity and while you have all shown that in spades, I think you’ve been playing it safe. So let’s let it all out this week. Go crazy, take risks, do that thing you didn’t think you could! For once, the double-ohs have the right idea and I say we show them exactly how amazing we all are. So find your spark and polish it til we all need sunglasses to look at you!”
Unobserved, 004 smacks Alec on the chest. “See - this is how you get people involved! Hook ‘em in with something to spark that competitive spirit.”
