There are many adjectives that apply to James Bond, the vast majority of which he has neither wanted nor particularly cared for: lethal isn’t fully a compliment, even in their line of work, though Bond admits, most days, it’s better than dead. Handsome, to be sure, is a superlative that has sometimes made him feel vain, though never proud—it would make as much sense to be proud of not having the gene that makes coriander taste like soap. Disarming is true, in both a literal and figurative sense, but it’s an adjective where he himself is almost incidental: the primary focus is on what he’s taken from someone; from what was there, and then gone. None of these are words he has ever especially wanted to be called.
