This AU is my official apology for IF to the radioststic nation.... im sorry for trauma, it will happen again.

And - yes, this is a whole ass AU, where Alastor and Vox have healthy PLATONIC relationships and don't hate each other, and Vox accepts that Alastor is aroace, and Vox doesn't have instant boner when Alastor does something cute or hot wether on accident or not, and tootally nothing traumatic happened in the past. Absolutely.

Most narcissists don't just seek approval from everyone, since in their minds, most people aren't worth impressing. Instead, they often end up centering and idolising one specific person whose opinion matters more than anyone else's.

And the thing about a narc’s favourite person is that they don't have to be objectively superior.

In fact, by Vox's own standards, Alastor shouldn't be the one he keeps measuring himself against. Yet Vox constantly compares himself to him and feels the need to prove to everyone that he's better.

The problem is that Alastor never gives Vox the validation he's looking for.

It really doesn't seem like Vox has a problem with anything queer with anyone around him. Dare I say he enjoys seeing others be openly queer. I think it's really more really just with himself. I really do think a part of him is still ashamed of his bisexuality; even if he's more comfortable with it compared to the past. He just can't shake it off. Vox is not nearly as open and loud and proud as Velvette and Valentino are -- especially when you look at all the pride merch.

And if this is the case, this is such a unique and interesting way to explore a queer male character's internalized queerphobia. He doesn't have any problems with his masculinity, hell, he's even somewhat feminine with his body language and some of his mannerisms. He's even openly accepting and doesn't mind other queer people being loud and proud around him. He cheers them on, admires them, (and also sees it as a way to may profit as one of the leaders of the media company because capitalism)

Vox doesn't even shame the fact that Charlie brought a woman as her date-- instead saying that she brought an angel as her date and that he can "respect such a bold statement," which sure was intended to be sarcastic, but the fact that's the angle he went with to comment on Charlie and Vaggi's relationship, and the fact Charlie even BROUGHT her girlfriend, who is an angel, in a highly public setting with A LOT on stake, gives me the vibe that Vox, deep down, are being at least partially truthful when he said he respected the move, because it was absolutely was a super risky move on the Hotel's end considering their reputation at that point.

It's just when it comes to HIM and how he feels about himself... that's where the deep insecurity arises. He's struggling to accept that part of himself even despite the fact he's literally in a relationship with another man and it ends up causing problems in his relationship with his bf.

It's a super interesting way to explore internalized queerphobia if I'm onto something here.
