I terribly miss trimberly, can we please get some short trimberly ficlets for the pride month.
Hey, I'm sorry this took a bit. Since I am not taking prompts, I wasn't in the headspace to write anything, so I kept it just in case. The festivities in my area won't be until next month and we still have like 10 days of June so I am not late. Here you are:
Kim's face scrunched in a furious scowl as she watched the scene before her. The gathering was small, but large for Angel Grove. She figured people from surrounding towns came here as despite their quaint seaside town being no where near the size of a city, it was still larger than those in the surrounding area. Still, the turn out was great. Unfortunately, the same could be said for the anti-gay rally that took its spot at the end of their meager pride parade. Kim looked to Trini beside her. If possible, she seemed even smaller, her lip clamped between her teeth and a familiar look that told Kim she was about to run. Kim turned back to see that almost the full police department of Angel Grove there, half behind the 'God Hates Fags' signs, and others nonchalantly watching the proceedings and shrugging at those asking them to keep the group at bay, stating their rights to free speech. Useless assholes. What are they even being paid for, really, when it is the Power Rangers who do all the work for nothing at all?
And that was when the rage set in.
This was Trini's first pride as an out, semi-nonbinary lesbian. It had taken years of her questioning and hiding for her to even agree to come with Kim to the parade, if only to support Zack's drag show since he was doing some interesting pseudo goth number for the smallest Ranger. She also knew that it would make Trini feel better. She didn't want Trini to see this, to become afraid again and feel validated by the time she spent in hiding. No, Kim wanted more for Trini, knowing she could only be her best self if she stayed out and proud like she had been the past few months.
"Please stay here," she said to Trini, "I will be right back." She knew she was about to get in massive trouble for what she was about to do, but she walked as far away from the crowd as possible and utilized the newest tech Alpha 5 and Billy had worked together to recreate from the ship's database: the teleporter. She touched the side and was gone in a wisp of pink, only to stand next to her Zord. "Want to join the party, sweet girl?" she asked. Her Zord flapped its wings as Kimberly morphed into her suit.
A few minutes later Kimberly was above the pride parade, and she had her pterodactyl make a screech before she put it in auto pilot and jumped from the cockpit to faced the large anti-gay group. She placed her hand on her hip. Words weren't needed as the parade from the back half halted, those behind Kim turning to look at the sound of the screech. Kim turned to the crowd and saw Trini watching her. She wished Trini could see the wink sent her way. She then turned to the group again and stood tall, her posture sending the clear message: You can go no further.
Kim stared down the group through her helmet, making a mental note of the people she could see in the group. She was disappointed in many adults in her school even who were supposed to protect kids, the so called good people of her town who were right then showing their true colors. She was not surprised by the librarian she saw front and center, the woman who supervises the school's young republicans club at Angel Grove High. Kimberly sneered at the woman and though it wasn't seen through the helmet, she hoped her posture was enough to convey her disgust. It seemed to work if the slight step back was any indication.
Kim looked away from the group at the sound of a familiar trumpet. Down cam Zack's black mastodon as it bound the side of the parade and did what Kim could only describe as a sploot next to Kim. The pink pterodactyl landed on the mastodon's back. Then came the green dragon of Tommi, the newest ranger's Zord. Before the green Zord even got to a stop, Tommi was out of it on its head before she dropped down beside Kim. Then came the red T-rex and blue triceratops. They formed a line with the exception of Zack, who sat next to the pterodactyl on his Zord's head, looking down at the group. Kim was happy to see some of the members slowly breaking from the group and leaving their position. Police finally looked interested in what was going on as people began to raise their phones towards them. Then, Kim's favorite sound came from out of nowhere. The yellow sabertooth tiger let out its yowl before it seemed to pounce in front of all of them. She exited her Zord and stood next to Tommi.
Kim noticed their positions and realized, whether this was done on purpose or not, that they formed their own rainbow of sorts, with Jason next to her, and then Trini, Tommi and Billy. Zack stood tall behind them, and they kept their positions. Slowly, Kim reached next to her, turning her head slightly to look at Trini. The Yellow Ranger was looking back, and she took her hand. They stood closer together, and Kim turned to tap her helmet to the side of Trini's in a way she hoped looked like a kiss to the cheek.
Eventually, having realized they could advance no further, the group disbanded, and Kim smirked at the retreat. Then the Power Rangers turned towards the front half of the parade only to see every eye on them. It seemed to go as hushed as a couple of hundred people could get before Zack raised his metallic black hands and shouted 'HAPPY PRIDE! LET'S PARTY!!" There was a blast from his mastodon, followed by the roars and stomping claws from the other Zords before shouts and cheers resumed. The marching band struck up and the parade began to move again to the one outside stage, where Zack would later do his drag number. Kim and Trini, or rather, the Pink and Yellow Power Rangers stayed side by side and hand to hand the entire time except to take pictures with people.
"Thanks Kim," Trini said through the comms inside their helmets. Kim brought Trini's hand to her helmet as if to kiss it.
It was voted across the planet as the best pride festival of the year.
